Warp and weft in plain weaving

Grain line denotes the orientation of warp yarns in woven textiles. Some properties of woven textiles like elasticity can vary extremly whether measured parallel or orthogonal to the grain line. Knowing the grain line is necessary to plan a cut. The grain line is generally parallel to the selvage.
