"To A Squirrel"
Come play with me;
Why should you run
Through the shaking tree
As though I'd a gun
To strike you dead?
When all I would do
Is to scratch your head
And let you go.
William Butler Yeats

¿Quién es?[edit]

My username is Yllosubmarine, but you can call me María. Yes, it's my name.

I'm a librarian by day and a recovering internet addict by night. Wikipedia is a hobby that I try not to take too seriously. What do I take seriously? Cooking, snuggling my Olde English Bulldogge, dissecting films/books, yoga, and napping.

What else? Why "Yllosubmarine"? I'm obsessed with these. I'm an anglophile and a bibliophile. I currently live in Florida, but like most others I'm just a transplant. My favorite city is Edinburgh, with Savannah and Asheville at a close second and third, respectively. I need to travel more. I do not have a favorite film or novel, but I do have top ten lists. I have a fascination with Gender studies, the grotesque, and historical fiction. Oh, and I like bears. ("Like" is putting it lightly; I'm fairly obsessed.)

Accomplishments[edit]

I have been reading Wikipedia far longer than I've been editing. My first edit was on January 25, 2006. The first article I created was The Thirteenth Tale on January 9, 2007. My first article to achieve both GA and FA was Knut (polar bear). I have a number of academic interests, but for the most part I concentrate on 19th- and 20th-century American and British writers and their works; classic and contemporary films and actors; and the history of the conservation movement in the United States. Oh, and bears.

I am a major contributor to the following articles:

Literary
Conservation
Misc.
