The power plant is developed by Lokmangal Mauli Industries Ltd. a company owned by Lokmangal group. Lohara co-generation power plant is a part of the Lowara sugar mill having capacity of 6000 TCD.[1] The power plant has a high pressure 135 tbh boiler operating on bagasse and other biomass. 30 MW extraction cum condensation steam turbine is used for electricity generation.[2]

The sugar mill produces around 1800 MT/day of Bagasse, 240 MT/Day of Molasses and 240 MT/Day of Press-Mud. The Bagasse generated during the sugar production is used to power the boiler with daily requirement of 1472 MT/day during sugar production period[1] while excess Bagasse stored and Bagasse from other sugar mills is used during off season.[2]

The company provides 17 MW power to the state electricity grid during sugar production period and provides 27 MW during rest of the year.[1]
