Wikipedia and copyright[edit]

Control copyright icon Hello गहराई, and welcome to Wikipedia. Your additions to Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. (To request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission.) While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • We have strict guidelines on the usage of copyrighted images. Fair use images must meet all ten of the non-free content criteria in order to be used in articles, or they will be deleted. All other images must be made available under a free and open license that allows commercial and derivative reuse to be used on Wikipedia.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into the public domain (PD) or under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. Such a release must be done in a verifiable manner, so that the authority of the person purporting to release the copyright is evidenced. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps in Wikipedia:Translation#How to translate. See also Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Meters (talk) 00:44, 23 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

You cannot upload an image you scraped form the web and falsely claim it is free use. Meters (talk) 00:45, 23 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Deceased[edit]

This user was active on Wikipedia for 2 days and now they are dead? This looks suspicious. Can you provide more evidence of their death? -- GreenC 15:21, 1 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

You both use visual editor. You both edit Hindu topics. The "dead" account was clearly experienced with Wikipedia and a sock of someone. The "dead" account was focused on the article Rana Sanga which has a history of many sock editors. -- GreenC 15:30, 1 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Brother I personally know him his name is Kamlesh bhati and sadly he died due to brain stroke.गहराई (talk) 15:41, 1 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Your edits in the German wiki de:Pratap Singh[edit]

Dear Gahrāī,

we are grateful for providing us more books on Maharana Pratap Singh. However, you gave me a lot of work by simply copying the English template and not recognising the German format. The German format does not employ a template. Please add more books in the future in the form of

  • Author: Title. publisher, place year, ISBN.

Please understand that publisher, place and year are mandatory to be valid as a scientific citation of literature in a German publication. The standards of the German Wikipedia are considerably stricter than those of the English Wikipedia. More on de:Wikipedia:Literatur, especially more rules for citing articles, miscellanies etc.

Thank you for your consideration, --Curryfranke (talk) 12:25, 9 December 2020 (UTC), German Wikipedia quality control[reply]

Bajrang Dal[edit]

You've added a book made up of our articles as the source - the clue is the word "Wikipedia" in the reference. You also added a protection template, please don't do that, it does nothing but confuse people. Only Administrators such as myself can protect article. You need to remove it. Thanks. Doug Weller talk 06:37, 10 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Doug Weller I have added becaUSE when it was the admin ( User:Ruslik0) protected to prevent socks from editing it.गहराई (talk) 06:56, 10 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
That was 12 years ago. I've unprotected the article. See WP:INDENT for posting on discussion and talk pages. Doug Weller talk 12:43, 10 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Doug Weller:, the decision to unprotect the page was not good. It led to a massive vandalism burst and wasted everyone's time. Akhiljaxxn reported the page and another admin had to protect it again. गहराई (i.e. User:Gahrai in English script) first made a frivolous edit to remove the protection tag. and then made another frivolous edit to re-add the removed protection tag. it seems to have caused the confusion. गहराई has been making more frivolous edit and another editor has complained below. Please see the thread at the bottom of this page where I have documented some of the problems that I found due to the frivolous edits made by गहराई. --Walrus Ji (talk) 12:46, 16 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Walrus Ji, yes, the test justified the semi-protection which I was planning to do today if the problems continued. But 12 years is an unusually long time to keep a page protected, so I still think it was important to show whether or not protection was still needed. --Doug Weller talk 13:30, 16 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Doug Weller:, understood. Thanks for the response. The protection is necessary, even that talk page appears a battleground. Reading the comments on the talk page, it seems people are making attempts at censorship. Walrus Ji (talk) 13:52, 16 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

No unnecessary edit[edit]

Refrain from doing unnecessary editing otherwise ur account will be blocked Ama975193 (talk) 12:31, 13 December 2020 (UTC) Pls let me know about the unnecessary edit, you are talking about.Ama975193गहराई (talk) 03:06, 14 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@गहराई: please explain why you are removing these sources [1]? Also do not create redundant WP: CFORK, I just merged the Bibliography of Tulsi Gabbard for the same reasons. FYI, @Ama975193 and Doug Weller:. Walrus Ji (talk) 03:25, 14 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Walrus Ji This was done as Doug Weller has removed protected so I have removed the template of गहराई (talk) 03:46, 14 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@गहराई: I am asking about your removal of these 2 references listed below. Why did you remove them without explaining your removal in WP:Edit summary. Walrus Ji (talk) 03:51, 14 December 2020 (UTC)[1][2][reply]

Here in this edit #1, You added a newspaper The Hindu and removed the [citation needed] tag. I see that this source does not support any content in the article. So why did you add it there?
Here in this edit #2 You have moved the templates below. May I know why you made this edit? it looks totally frivolous to me. I have removed all these edits.Walrus Ji (talk) 09:33, 14 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Here in this edit This edit was right, see the above discussion.Walrus Ji गहराई (talk) 11:26, 14 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
In that second edit. I am asking about the template "Use dmy dates", why did you move it its location. What purpose does moving it serve? Please respond about Edit#1 Walrus Ji (talk) 13:34, 14 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Changing usernames[edit]

Hi, it's sadly not possible to have different usernames on different Wikipedias. If you want to change your username everywhere you can go to Wikipedia: Changing username/Simple, but if not you could for example go to your settings and change your signature to "Depth" – Thjarkur (talk) 09:52, 17 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thjarkur So what should I do now.गहराई (talk) 11:28, 17 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
You don't have to do anything, using a non-Latin username is fine, but if you want to sign your posts as "Depth (गहराई)", you can do so by changing your signature in your settingsThjarkur (talk) 11:31, 17 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The article Tulsi Gabbard bibliography has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

The books published by the subject are not notable. This is a WP:REDUNDANTFORK article. See discussion on the talk page.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.

You have shown interest in India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan. Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions is in effect. Any administrator may impose sanctions on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, or the page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.

For additional information, please see the guidance on discretionary sanctions and the Arbitration Committee's decision here. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.

December 2020[edit]

Stop icon You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you disrupt Wikipedia, as you did at Template:Jawaharlal Nehru. Walrus Ji (talk) 01:52, 18 December 2020 (UTC) Stop icon You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you disrupt Wikipedia, as you did at Subhas Chandra Bose. Please stop making specious and frivolous editing. You are adding redundant templates on pages that already have a similar one and spamming it on multiple articles. You are removing content and references for specious and trivial reasons. Other editors have already raised concern on this page and others like this one at Talk:B._R._Ambedkar#गहराई_is_a_fraud.. I will be forced to report your disruptive editing to the administrators for detailed review. Walrus Ji (talk) 01:32, 18 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Nomination for deletion of Template:Narendra Modi navbar[edit]

Template:Narendra Modi navbar has been nominated for deletion. You are invited to comment on the discussion at the entry on the Templates for discussion page. Walrus Ji (talk) 01:44, 18 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Template:Jawarlal Nehru requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section T3 of the criteria for speedy deletion because it is an unused duplicate of another template, or a hard-coded instance of another template. After seven days, if it is still unused and the speedy deletion tag has not been removed, the template will be deleted.

If the template is not actually the same as the other template noted, please consider putting a note on the template's page explaining how this one is different so as to avoid any future mistakes.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Neha Kakkar[edit]

While this is not exactly a "day by day event". Infos like these are written in many BLPs but this particular case seems a 'publicity stunt', so yeah, it should not be kept in the article, unless it is an important part of a song or skit. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 16:56, 22 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Fylindfotberserk (talk) Ok I don't know this but that was a misassumptions actually.

Rest is your choice. गहराई (talk) 03:06, 23 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not adding it since it was a stunt. Typically I do not add content on 'pregnancy' and stuff even if the news is real, but do not delete it either if sourced properly. OTOH, birth of a child is definitely important, that I add. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 06:46, 23 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
