Re Message[edit]

Hi 08maxwell, I got your email and I'll try to have a look at the article tonight after work. No need to apologies we all have had to learn sometime and in the draft area you can do no harm while learning. Help:Referencing for beginners might be a good page to look at, also I'm added a standard welcome message above with some key links to help. Lastly we have a friendly place for new editors to ask for help/advice called The Wikipedia:Teahouse where lots of experienced editors and admins help out. All the best KylieTastic (talk) 14:46, 12 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  • Hi, I think I've added the two bits you tried to add. The problem you were having was with ref names. A standalone ref needs no name i.e. <ref>....</ref> you then can add a name so it can be re-used thus <ref name="myrefname">....</ref> note the name in inside the <ref> tags end angle bracket. You can then just use the named version to mark other section in this case with <ref name="myrefname" /> note the /> ending indicates a standalone tag. Or see the explanation in Help:Referencing_for_beginners#Same_reference_used_more_than_once. Cheers KylieTastic (talk) 20:23, 12 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, I'm Toddst1. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Robert Redford, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at the tutorial on citing sources, or if you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Toddst1 (talk) 00:09, 18 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Please read WP:RS/IMDB which notes that the site cannot be used as a ref. There are other sources ut there like AFI and TCM. Your cooperation in not using that site will be appreciated. MarnetteD|Talk 16:59, 19 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
