Here is an excerpt from a letter which I am posting to Cardinal Vincent Nichols tomorrow. I actually wrote the letter before I discovered that you have been lying about me on a public message board to Wikipedia administrators and hence to the world:

On 26th July 2023 I wrote to Fr Peter Yates - whether he is related to the wife of the Archdeacon of Canterbury I know not. On that topic, yesterday morning I was reading Chris Oyakhilome's devotional for April 2016. On Wednesday 13th he told us:

'The Bible says, The wicked borroweth and payeth not again." God describes the one who doesn't pay his or her debt as wicked. God wants you to serve Him with wholehearted devotion, and willingness of mind, but at the same time, with honesty. Your integrity should be impeccable.

'...The word "wicked" in our opening verse describes one whose ways are perverse; someone who isn't walking in the light of God;' 

  "Thou shalt not steal" is one of the Ten Commandments.

In lunar terms, that date Wednesday, 13th April 2016 is 5 Miri. The Paschal full moon fell on the 14th, Friday 22nd April. The following Wednesday was 27th April and Orthodox Easter was the following Sunday, 1st May, or to put it another way, Easter falls between the 19th and the 25th day of Miri (in the 21st century) on whichever day is Sunday - thus on the 23rd (1st May). The devotional for Holy Thursday (28th April) begins with the words "There're those who ask if it's possible for people to sell their souls to the devil;"

Rather than go down the dangerous road of broadcasting unsubstantiated allegations to the world I suggest you ask the Archbishop to mediate. This doesn't stop you making these allegations but it means you have to justify them with evidence. Given that you hold high position in the Anglican Centre in Rome, your behaviour will be closely scrutinised. It doesn't help that the Anglicans recently conducted an unauthorised Eucharist within the Basilica of St John Lateran. If you ignore this post conclusions will be drawn.

Change of direction[edit]

In 2020 Adam surrendered the editorship of the Ecclesiastical Law Journal because his "burgeoning oecumenical brief" meant he would have insufficient time to devote to the role. Then in February 2021 he was asked to leave Lambeth Palace, tweeting when he collected his belongings on 16 April "Saying au revoir, rather than goodbye to Lambeth Palace as I shift all my stuff out."[2] The same month (February 2021) he was appointed Deputy Secretary General of the Anglican Communion, based at the Anglican Communion Office (ACO) adjacent to Portobello Road market.[1]

Following the departure of the Very Reverend Jo Kelly-Moore, who was made Dean of St Albans, the post of Archdeacon of Canterbury and Residentiary Canon of Canterbury Cathedral was advertised in November 2021, with a closing date of 6 January 2022 and interviews to take place on 2 and 3 February 2022.[3] The prospectus opened by stating that the post would receive the "Archdeacon's Stipend." The detailed Recruitment Pack (page 11) stated "The Archdeacon receives a stipend at the level recommended by the Central Stipends Authority (subject to annual decision by the Archbishop's Council)."[4] The post therefore offered a stipend of 39,058 pounds per annum compared to Adam's previous salary of 60,000 pounds plus free housing. Accommodation would continue to be free but Adam's wife would lose her stipend. There is a laid down process for appointments in which application forms are scrutinised by a committee.[5][6] In March 2022 Adam's appointment was announced. Dr Adam and Canterbury Cathedral confirmed that he had been "invited" to leave his previous position.[7][8] He was installed at Canterbury during Evensong on 18 July 2022,[9][10] but seconded back to the ACO for the Fifteenth Lambeth Conference between 27 July and 7 August 2022.[11]

Disciplinary investigation[edit]

In September 2021 it was alleged under the Clergy Discipline Measure that Adam had, inter alia, abstracted Church funds. Such allegations are normally referred by the Bishop to his diocesan registrar for investigation. As his registrar was involved, the Bishop of Chichester asked an independent solicitor to prepare a report.[12]
