Sorry, didn't expect such a quick answer! So the line breaks in JCIDS at the end of the sentences are ignored? I went through the 'Actors' Section and removed all the line breaks, was that a waste of my time? Thought it might look 'ragged' on a wide screen?
• Wikis OK. Recently updated an article about a Finnish bridge that had sagged, but the article didn't mention it had been demolished since! Also fiddling around with articles about Radio-controlled helicopters, Miniature helicopters and similar. Getting a bit more active after going a bit quiet a week ago (one edit a day!) Only double line breaks actually register. My screen's under 12" anyway, so I wouldn't be able to tell :P But certainly not a waste of time, as it would be a pain for me or anyone else to have to adapt to that while editing the article, and it breaks some formatting.
(Meh? See here.) Pics? I didn't have my camera, and am still attempting to wrangle photos from my friends! The six of us liked each other's company so much we're organising another two tramps, one in Sept and one in Oct. Should be good.
I have quite a full performance schedule and a tonofpaperwork to complete between now and the end of November, so I'll likely be a little less active than usual. Yes, really, truly! I'm the cello on the outermost just above the audience as well, so I had to fake it convincingly. Most interesting performance I've ever done, I tell you. Love Macbeth. Shakespeare in general, but Macbeth's my favourite of the tragedies, the Merchant of Venice for the comedies. (We just found out we won an award for that particular performance, so apparently breaking a string was good luck!) About Mr. Hellcat, most obvious socking ever. He obviously hasn't got very much experience with trying to cause trouble... quite surreal, really. Also: I went to see Inception with a friend (it was his second time seeing it), quite enjoyed it. Two of my favourite topics- the subconscious mind, and the possible existence of parallel worlds underneath this one (and maybe even above!) Hi Sonia. Aha! od='outdent' Where on Earth Prime are you learning these obscure magicks? I am looking forward to Tomorrow When the War Began (film), which begins, tomorrow actually here in Oz. Parallel worlds hm? There is a novel set in NZ about such a thing, cannot think of the name, not a major work/author/publisher AFAIR. Farnhams Freehold + The Door into Summer are good and excellent stories respectively by Robert Heinlein on this subject, mixed with time travel which is practically the same thing, ie. altering the time line so unpleasant future does not occur, at least in you own time-line. Worldwar: In the Balance and others from the Worldwar series are acceptable, alternate History novels but not up to Heinlein IMHO.
• As for some RABid editors, I was surprised it took so long to block em! Actually saying we are gonna 'get' you or screw around with WP? Bang, instantly blocked I would think!

I remember reading Tomorrow when the War Began years ago- loved the title at first sight when the school library acquired the series. (Dating myself here, aren't I?) There hasn't been too much hype here over the movie, but I do intend to see it at some stage. Time travel = fantastic plot device if done properly. Sometimes it's been absolutely butchered. I'll take your advice re good reads- you have pretty good taste.

I noted the comments re Adminship on your talk page. I would strongly suggest; 1) Not seeming too eager to be an admin, 2) Getting a lot more editing experience, including in areas such as anti vandal work and reporting, Username reporting ie wp:UAA (You can wp:welcome new users too when checking for username violations) 3) Wait for an established editor to nominate or suggest you for Adminship. They'll probably start suggesting it, when they think you are ready. 4) Look at a few RfA's to see what even well known editors go through, it can be harsh! 5) Try to create some good articles or other content creation. 6) Use edit summaries! Strike that!, you've created a load of articles! Sorry I didn't check! (I haven't actually created any, though I have greatly expanded a few biographies! nb. putting a : at the start of your post 'tabs' or spaces it out from the left side. You'll have to take my word for it that the men's interior is very colourful. I do have a picture of the women's interior, which seems just as bold ;-) The advantage of liking black flags is that at dusk all flags are black. Right, I'm stopping whispering because Sonia's clearly not studying ;-) Sonia, I kind of agree about Hundertwasser's flag: I like the koru symbol, partly because it's a bit fractal-y, but I'm not keen on the colours. Kyle Lockwood's flag is better, but again I'm not completely keen. I'd like something black, or black and red - I like the Tino Rangatiratanga flag, for example (actually, I love it). But there's no way most of New Zealand would accept it, as it's so heavily part of Maori identity. (I'd lovethis flag, too, but suspect most of New Zealand wouldn't... pity!) I think we need red to keep Maori happy, but NZ could probably get away with a largely black flag with some red.
On the subject of lemon, I prefer whiskey neat, but honey-and-lemon in cheap whiskey goes well when I have a cold! Apart from that - alcoholic lemonade! It's great!

I try and keep my talkpage unprotected as much as possible - if it is ever protected it tends to be for very short periods - but I'm much less of a target than HJ. Most of the serious stuff I do at the moment is at WT:BISE, and that doesn't attract idiots to my talkpage. (The WT:BISE folk are all long-term editors, by-and-large). Incidentally, don't think I was warning you off Ireland or anything related - most definitely not, just that it's an area that scares me ;-)
I don't think I've been kicked that hard, I deserved what I got, and learnt from it. HJ seems to be living proof that "no good deed goes unpunished". As far as I can see HJ followed policy, did something beneficial, and now gets abused for it. I take on board the idea that HJ should have run it past, say, WP:AN first, but really - there's a list of pages that are highly used yet unprotected, and then we complain that HJ protects pages on the list? I've finished my last two compositions for this semester- I just have to get into the studio to record them. (Haven't been well enough to sing yet for the one with words, so I'll have to wait.) Now it's just a flurry of performances, and what they call "immersion"- critiquing tons of different music as a group and individually, drawing from the historical context. I heard Douglas Lilburn's Nine Short Pieces a week or so ago and was quite taken by it, I'm looking to buy a CD to add to my "study music" pile. Right now I'm listening to this. Have you heard it? :)

(see "What a comedy page!" above) • It's a shame the 'great powers' of Wikipedia can't (or won't?) transfer my edits to an account. I mean if it simply can't be done, fine. But they can transfer edits between registered accounts? Maybe there are a lot more long term Static IP editors than we think and it would simply be too difficult? I mean if it has to be done manually and registered accounts can be done with 'tools' then I would understand. If you or anyone(tps) knows the technicalities, I'd be interested to know! I also recall that up to mid 19952005 it was being done. (can't locate the page right now) Perhaps the workload/server load was just too much? • Suppose I could just copy everything over and redirect the IP talk etc to my new pages? Afaik, the software doesn't allow for IPs to be "renamed" the way accounts are, because they are technically not registered and thus don't already possess a unique id to rename. Reassigning used to be done but I think it was done manually which is a bit of work for the devs. Up to mid 1995?? You mean 2005? ;) It's not an issue to leave a note that this IP is/was yours on your userpage, a good number of us will already know you and vouch for that. There's a few sysops who used to edit under different accounts and didn't rename but started over, it wouldn't be the first time. sonia♫ 04:21, 10 September 2010 (UTC)

As I said to Bugs, if I redirect these pages (if that's allowed), it seems unlikely any other persons will be using this IP or even a very similar IP (apart from a certain sockpuppeteer). It seems there are only three 220.101.x IPs that have ever edited WP. It's just as simple to log off and say "Yes this is me" as an IP I suppose? After being around a year it should become pretty clear If it's not me? ♦ Then again, there is a bit of a kerfuffle over Admin. Note: Hello Journeyman IP, I'd just like to note that the eventual wikilink to "The Great Frost" was not the on you initially gave, due to another editor stating it was a different "The Great Frost". It now points to a section on the 1940 Famine article describing the apparently-Great-Frost-without-a-unique-name. This reminds me of a good scene from the Vicar of Dibley...

Hope you had a good lie-in, sleep is important man. The situation is sorted. Changing slots, unsurprisinly, had no obvious effect. I caught the tram back to the shop and part exchanged for a Hauppauge hybrid pci tuner. Funny thing is is that when I booted up there was no indication from windows that new hardware had been installed. Dejected but hoping for the best, I proceeded to install the supplied drivers, ran whatever tv watching software they bundle it with and picked up 2 (out of 4) analogue stations. At this stage I was just relieved the thing actually worked. I messed around with the aerial and ms media center for a bit- I was trying to see if I could get it to at least pick up the four terrestrial channels we have here. After scanning for additional channels for maybe a third time, a whole load of digital channels showed up. Digital terrestrial isn't even meant to be available here yet! I'm trying not to get too comfortable because I think they might be just testing the network; the thing might be gone tomorrow and I'll be left with 2 analogue channels with rubbish reception. Stranger still, my new card seems to be only mp2 compatible, whereas I was led to believe that Ireland was going down the mp4 road.
Anyway, that's how I spent my saturday- was meant to be cleaning the apartment, my house-mate's coming back to the apartment tomorrow, she's been away most of the summer. Got mired in pcdom for what seems like the first time since I tried to get frontier elite to work on my da's 486- memcheck and all that nonsense. I think it's me that's waffling now :).
Thanks again for your efforts; if nothing else they kept my morale up. I don't know how old you are but if you're not aware of it, have a look at working holiday visa; it might be time to root out your passport! Blimey, I've been channelling my ancestors again! I believe my ancestors came from Great Britain, by and large, so "FOWR" is likely to refer to the fine, sunny, tropical weather we're blessed with on this island. ;-) The "T" I gather stood for "Truly", a common name back in those days. My research is incomplete, but I gather that while most "private sailors" left these shores in search of "adventure" (i.e. gold) this particular sailor had an aversion to water, and felt that a life afloat had to be better than a life under water, which is what most folk in Britain are blessed with. Apparently this isn't unusual, hence the following joke:

What it won't do is tell you who's watching who. That would be a significant security breach. I was genuinely pleased & impressed by your efforts as Gaeilge, not many people on this island even attempt it! Turning to Polarego - that's a real shame. There's a smart-arsed quip about "climate change claiming its first casualty", but I can't bring myself to make it. I actually took it off my watchlist, I was finding it so depressing - though what I should have done, obviously, is visit the enthusiastic editor and explain the difference between encyclopaedic prose and "exclusive, compelling" journalistic prose... Nah, you can get good chocolate here - just not Whittaker's. There's plenty of Belgian chocolate which is nice, and Cadbury's is no better/no worse than back home. The UK is getting good at stocking some Kiwi stuff - wine is easier to get these days. A few years ago Sav Blanc was the only Kiwi wine you get in the UK; recently they seem to have discovered that New Zealand does reds as well. "Your wine" has been here forever ;-) Wine is expensive, though - they take the NZD$ price and just change the symbol - $15 becomes £15 pounds. My local Woolworths used to sell an Australian wine for $5 - you wouldn't find wine that cheap in the UK. GST was 12.5% when I was last back home - Sonia will have a better idea what it is now (I think it was due to go up?) GST in the UK ("VAT") is 17.5% (but it's cheaper on electricity and gas, and water - in Scotland - is covered by water rates paid to the council. England and Wates pay for their water, I think. NZ also has council water, I think, you pay for sewerage so you can't just install your own rainwater-collection system). Wasabi Kit Kats! Awesome! Sorry about delay, I Am Legend (film) and Armageddon are both on TV. Not first time I have had a message sent almost as I sat down! (see this). I think me sleeping is a myth! If you look at me on WikiChecker, my edits are all over time-wise, where yours have well defined cut offs.

Ah, we've played the WikiChecker game before - your editing habits truly terrify me, leading me to believe that (a) you never sleep, or (b) you are, in fact, an android. Your fine taste in food and drink leads me to believe the former, but I'm open to arguments for the latter. You need to run WikiChecker with the "all" parameter: this is me. It does show some apparent insomnia, but that's almost certainly down to editing in two different timezones - UTC+0 and UTC+12. The times I were least active translate to times I was either in NZ, at work - or in the UK, asleep.
I found this interesting: I've not yet tried an American Milky Way but I'd have to say I'm not a big fan of (British) Milky Ways. I seem to recall Mars Bars being available in NZ, and being basically identical to British Mars Bars. This page gives me real hope for Canada, and also suggests that more research is needed on regional variation within the US. I discovered you still get Violet Crumbles in Australia - I encountered them about 25 years ago in Singapore, and thought they were great, but my tastes were less mature back then. They're an Aussie invention, and I was surprised not to find them in New Zealand (I think you get Crunchies, though - but they're not as good). Oh, and the comment about dark chocolate Mars Bars: spot on. Dark chocolate anything is better. About 20 years ago Britain brought out ice-cream Mars Bars and flirted with various similar products - the best one was the "Red Bounty Ice Cream" - dark chocolate, coconut-filled goodness. British tastes don't tend to extend to dark-chocolate nearly enough, so the product (a) flew off the shelves, and (b) stayed off the shelves (any successful product that I like won't survive long - apparently big business measures success in a different way to me: it's not enough to sell out quickly). Movie plot: Annie is staying in Connecticut to see her friend Joan, and she stays at the "creature in hotel", which is rumered to be haunted. When she stays at the hotel in room 203, she notices really wierd stuff going on. There is a figure that keeps going near her, and she often hears crying or singing in the night, coming from near by the window. Annie goes to the front desk and is directed to Elizabeth Jones in room 204, who tells her about the ghost of Catherine Jones, who died in 1910 at age 13. it is unknown how she dies, but Annie then calls in her ghost hunter brother (Sean Desman), named norman who finds Catherine near the heater in 203. Annie, Norman and the other ghost hunters must help Catherine realize that the people who used to tease her are not there any more, and she can rest in peace.

Everyone there is a a volunteer, and they do not have to answer a question if they do not want to. Also do some (more) editing, that is make a contribution back to WP. I am not impressed by editors (not you personally) who only ask RD questions, but don't 'pay' for it by giving back to WP. I may be outside policy here, but that is my personal feeling on the issue. First one looks OK - so long as "British Isles" isn't involved it's all good. Adding/removing "United Kingdom" is another issue, and one that's been going on forever - does "England" suffice, or should we say "England, United Kingdom". My view is that the edits here are sometimes less than ideal - I'd like to see more than just [[Place-in-England]] - I'd like to see either [[Place-in-England, England|Place-in-England]], [[England]] or [[Place-in-England, England|Place-in-England]], [[United Kingdom]] - i.e. I'd like to see a link giving an idea where "Place-in-England" is (most English place-names aren't so obvious as the made-up one I've chosen...) - "Place-in-England" on its own isn't sufficient (in my view). [[Place-in-England, England]] isn't ideal either, as there's only one link. [[Place-in-England, England]], [[United Kingdom]] would be OK (in my view). I haven't looked at the other editor yet... I blocked the second editor - definitely a vandalism-only-account. First edit used the term "school nigger" - and it went downhill from there... You don't need to hang about with VoAs - head to AIV early, no need to warn them all four times. Sorry I missed your reply. That is certainly a lot of hits. At the present time I would assume most readers are looking for eruptive information and would explore the main article for background rather than the other way around. I was a little worried when the 2010 eruptions article was started up due my own concerns that it would either split the benefits or double the workload. It seems to have worked out OK though. I guess we will need to pay attention to thinning down the Merapi articles 2010 eruptions content soon and start clarifying the 2010 eruptions content. The two articles seem to be hanging together pretty well under the circumstances and there has been a lot of effort put into them. I notice a few editors have done a lot of cleaning up and refining of the main article over the last couple of weeks. There will need to be some serious broom work done when the eruptions finally stop. I think I have fixed my signature link now. Maybe I left something half done a couple of weeks back, I only noticed it recently and fixed it. Nice to hear from someone in Sydney. I am in Indonesia and here we are getting some quite dramatic thunderstorms lately. When the winds start up we will probably have a bit of exciting weather I think, currently we still seem to be having LaNina influenced rains. I live at the base of one of Indonesia's active volcanos and I often wonder if it is really such a good idea. Those people in Yogya must be having a pretty interesting time. Thanks for all you ongoing tidy ups on the refs. I really must learn how to do them in a more concise manner myself. When have some time I might need to ponder over the appropriate WP guide for quite a while.Thanks for saying hello. Hey 220.101 :) I like your "manual archiving" notice; I do it that way myself. Gives me more control over exactly how my talk looks at any time. As for infoboxes, hmm. I'd say go to the talk page of the relevant wikiproject; if it's a minor tweak (perhaps, I'd venture, even adding one field), then WP:BRD applies. If it's not, (especially if you're completely restructuring it) then certainly discussion beforehand is due :)
Life has been spitting on me in general, with a host of medical and legal problems piling on top of end-of-year deadlines, so you won't see much of me over the next month either... my primary commitment to Wikipedia at the moment is this, and it's about all I can handle right now. I'm hoping that the deluge will subside relatively quickly and I'll be able to get back to writing content by Christmas, although with the way things have been I really don't know if that's possible. There appears to be presumption that surfers never die!! I think I do not need a reliable source to assert that this is highly improbable! In fact the ever useful Plastikspork (talk·contribs) reports it as fixed, and surfers may now depart for the 'Place of Endless Tubes' like the rest of us. Cowabunga!

I have strained something above my hip, making bending etc difficult, which is a big problem when I have today started a new job! 2010 eruption of Mount Merapi

Hello there Originalwana! I imagine that the picture would have to be downloaded, cropped with a graphics program and uploaded to Commons again. See also this link: Edit this file using an external application from the Commons page. My concern was that the section of interest was very small compared to the overall size of the picture.
Keep your eyes open for a 'free-use' picture of the current eruption we can use, perhaps Flickr may have some?

Sorry about whinging about the Merapi eruption article - you're right I could update it myself. I was just trying to highlight that I thought it wasn't getting the attention it deserved but perhaps I have no right do to this if I too can't give it the attention I think it deserves! Whinging is a basic human right (so far!). The article was eventually linked to "current events" on the front page, for about a week I think? (which is quite long!). It has also been updated very regularly since, which some actually object to as "WP is an Encyclopedia, Not a Newspaper" (see Recentism - Some updates I did to Borobudur got reverted! by editor Merbabu!. Merbabu is also a mountain peak very near Merapi! See preceding post above ↑.) • Wikinews probably needs to be updated more often too! I think they had ONE article on the eruptions. • As you say, if this was happening in North America or Europe it would very likely "be getting bombarded by updates", but also its' effects would likely be felt much more worldwide. In Australia it got a lot of media coverage when it kept erupting. Actually from the page view stats, not as many readers as I thought would be are interested!
