American Mafia

The text you added to American Mafia is problematic, in particular the reference. The form for the reference is improper, which can be fixed, but there are more details needed. When you cite a book, you need to cite where in the book the information comes from. This particular book seems to published in the last couple of weeks, but an author I've never heard of, giving a conclusion that seems somewhat overblown. For future reference, in general, you should respond to a talk page comment on the same talk page as the comment was made. If you want to make sure the other user is notified, you can either place a {{Talkback}} on the user's talk page (see the top of my talk page for description of how it should be used), or start your response on your own talk page with {{Ping|username}}. They both provide an explicit notification to the user that his attention is desired. Also, always end any comments on a talk page with the quadruple tilde ("~~~~"), which Wikipedia will replace with a signature derived from your username or IP address and the date/time. This is necessary for both people and automated tools to be able to track which comments were made when and by whom. In any case, responding to your query:

Hi Tarl, I received it as a gift and read the original version in the original language (the thesis). I did not see any COI just be cause I read it before the english version. MOreover what is wrong with the reference?

The worry about WP:COI came from your geographic location being in close proximity to the author's, in conjunction with the pattern of edits matching WP:SPAM. The edits looked like they were put in place solely to attract attention to the source, rather than to improve the articles. Please discuss the changes you want to make on the article talk pages before reinstating them. The American Mafia change, in particular, seemed to have WP:PEACOCK language, perhaps not conforming to WP:NPOV. The term "essential", in particular, jumped out at me.

As to the form of the citations, generally, the form of the citation isn't critical. Most of us are more likely to fix an errant citation format than revert it, unless there are other problems. Properly made, they should be done according to Template:Cite book/doc. Something like:

producing: . Although I may be incorrectly parsing first vs. last name - wouldn't the last name be Gomes da Costa? I'm familiar with Mexican surname conventions but not Brazilian ones.

To be honest I dont know if is "Gomes da Costa" or "Costa" and Gomes is another name. As far I know, depite he is Brazilian and the original text froma Brazilian University, I understood he does not live in Brasil, as the books says he is a researcher in Virginia, I think but not sure.

Regarding the Mafia page, I will edit the text without the peacock language.

By the way, I'm rather puzzled by your comments above. His last published research shows him as an associate professor of Geography at University of São Paulo. He was at Virginia Commonwealth University for the spring semester of 2015. Your own IP address shows you are editing from the immediate neighborhood of São Paulo, so I'd assume you'd be familiar with Brazilian naming conventions. Tarl N. Further - his researchgate information is misleading. He was a student at USP, he is currently employed at Faculdades Integradas Rio Branco (Rio Branco). His CV lists bibliographic citation as: COSTA, DE LEON P. G. ; COSTA, De Leon Petta Gomes da ; DA COSTA, DE LEON PETTA GOMES ; PETTA, De Leon. I am from Paraná, south State of Brazil. State University of Maringá (UEM). 179.217.195.136. As far I know "Gomes" and "Costa" may be different names, not the same one.
