Avoiding premature deletion[edit]

First, good work on the Tuna Canyon Detention Station article, it looks great! I'm sorry I tagged it for deletion, but it certainly didn't look like that at first. When you put an article into the main article space, you should be prepared for it to receive immediate attention from other editors. This means you should already have the basics of your article: a statement clearly describing the subject of the article, an assertion of its importance, and at least one citation from an independent, reputable source to back it up. If you cannot provide those initially, there are several ways to build an article so that no one else will look at it while you are working on it:

put it in the Drafts space
put it in your own user space
work on it in a sandbox

With all of these, once you have the article the way you want it, you can either move it or cut and paste it to a page in the main article space.

At the very least, if you are not ready for other editors to review (and possibly tag) your work, you can place an Under construction tag at the top. But note that the description of the template says "In general, this template should not be used for new articles with little content. Instead, the sandbox should be used to develop the article so that it has reasonable content when it is copied into namespace."
