Image question[edit]

I see that File:AJ Foyt dirt car 1961.jpg looks too good to be true. It was almost certainly taken by a professional photographer -- 1961 looks like the right era. I'm concerned about the likelihood of flickr washing. Have you asked if the flickr account holder if he was the photographer? Royalbroil 15:56, 11 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hadn't really thought about it, but I agree it could be; the resolution's quite high for a fan's snap. Although of course some professionals do put stuff on Flickr... I'll ask, but if the poster says it's their pic, and licenses it as such, it's a bit difficult for us :) 4u1e (talk) 21:32, 12 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with everything that you replied. If the flickr contributor says they took it then it's fine to use. If not, then it can be deleted. I'll speedy delete it as a known copyright violation. I know some professionals put on flickr. A bunch of Wikipedia's NASCAR images are from the first official NASCAR photographer (of the NASCAR truck series) who I met on flickr while asking about an image. I have another flickr friend who photographed for Circle Track magazine (used to be huge here in the United States). Royalbroil 03:33, 13 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

WP Motorsport in the Signpost[edit]

The WikiProject Report would like to focus on WikiProject Motorsport for a Signpost article. This is an excellent opportunity to draw attention to your efforts and attract new members to the project. Would you be willing to participate in an interview? If so, here are the questions for the interview. Just add your response below each question and feel free to skip any questions that you don't feel comfortable answering. Multiple editors will have an opportunity to respond to the interview questions, so be sure to sign your answers. If you know anyone else who would like to participate in the interview, please share this with them. Have a great day. -Mabeenot (talk) 16:00, 15 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

WP:FOUR RFC[edit]

There are two WP:RFCs at WP:FOUR. The first is to conflate issues so as to keep people from expressing meaningful opinions. The second, by me, is claimed to be less than neutral by proponents of the first. Please look at the second one, which I think is much better.--TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 06:08, 20 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Main Page appearance: Brabham BT19[edit]

This is a note to let the main editors of Brabham BT19 know that the article will be appearing as today's featured article on February 19, 2014. If this article needs any attention or maintenance, it would be preferable if that could be done before its appearance on the Main Page. If you prefer that the article appear as TFA on a different date, or not at all, please ask Bencherlite (talk · contribs). You can view the TFA blurb at Wikipedia:Today's featured article/February 19, 2014. If it needs tweaking, or if it needs rewording to match improvements to the article between now and its main page appearance, please edit it, following the instructions at Wikipedia:Today's featured article/requests/instructions. The blurb as it stands now is below:

Brabham BT19

The Brabham BT19 is a Formula One racing car designed by Ron Tauranac for the British Brabham team. The BT19 competed in the 1966 and 1967 Formula One World Championships and was used by Australian driver Jack Brabham to win his third World Championship in 1966. The BT19, which Brabham referred to as his "Old Nail", was the first car bearing its driver's name to win a World Championship race. The car was initially conceived in 1965 for a 1.5-litre (92-cubic inch) Coventry Climax engine, but never raced in this form. For the 1966 season the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile doubled the limit on engine capacity to 3 litres (183 cu in). Australian company Repco developed a new V8 engine for Brabham's use in 1966, but a disagreement between Brabham and Tauranac over the latter's role in the racing team left no time to develop a new car to handle it. Instead, the existing BT19 chassis was modified for the job. Only one BT19 was built. It was bought by Repco in 2004 and put on display in the National Sports Museum in Melbourne, Australia, in 2008. It is often demonstrated at motorsport events. (Full article...)

Scuderia Coloni[edit]

Hi. Just letting you know the merge you commented on a few years ago at at Talk:Scuderia Coloni has finally been done. The merge brings in material from Enzo Coloni Racing Car Systems which is now a redirect. The page move to Coloni Motorsport has not been done as it is a separate issue to the merge discussion - views welcome on whether to pursue this as well.

I did the merge but make no claim to any expertise in motorsports, so apologies for any accidental inaccuracies I may have introduced. If you have a spare moment do please have a quick look at Scuderia Coloni and correct any errors I've made. Regards, Euryalus (talk) 06:21, 4 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Global account[edit]

Hi 4u1e! As a Steward I'm involved in the upcoming unification of all accounts organized by the Wikimedia Foundation (see m:Single User Login finalisation announcement). By looking at your account, I realized that you don't have a global account yet. In order to secure your name, I recommend you to create such account on your own by submitting your password on Special:MergeAccount and unifying your local accounts. If you have any problems with doing that or further questions, please don't hesitate to contact me on my talk page. Cheers, —DerHexer (Talk) 09:56, 18 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
