Policina IP sock

Moved sock tag to talk, as IPs do not get user pages (they can be dynamic). It is possible to delete the user page of the IP? 4thfile4thrank (talk) 04:00, 11 December 2020 (UTC)

It's been blanked so no need for it 5 albert square (talk) 11:10, 11 December 2020 (UTC)

Revdel

I believe this BLP violation is worthy of a revdel. – 2.O.Boxing 01:57, 16 December 2020 (UTC)

Thanks. I'll take a look at the whole article-- 5 albert square (talk) 01:58, 16 December 2020 (UTC)

Thank you

Hi 5 albert square. I've got no idea that was all about, but thank you for stepping in. Perhaps you can blank their userpage as well? I wonder if it might be related to MarchjuIy. -- Marchjuly (talk) 06:38, 16 December 2020 (UTC)

Update: It seems to have been already taken care of by Zzuuzz; so, I guess nothing further needs to be done. -- Marchjuly (talk) 06:43, 16 December 2020 (UTC)
You're welcome! It may be that the accounts are related, however, due to the age of the one you've mentioned above, we'll never know. Best to just revert, block, ignore with socks sometimes 5 albert square (talk) 08:28, 16 December 2020 (UTC)

Requesting block.

Hello! In this case Shinyedit please warn the user. If the user carries on vandalising after they've been sufficiently warned then you need to file a report at WP:AIV-- 5 albert square (talk) 20:03, 17 December 2020 (UTC)

I'm not sure this person is notable. Please fix the issues or the page risks being deleted. Bearian (talk) 17:14, 18 December 2020 (UTC)

Hello, I would agree Bearian but I'm afraid you have the wrong person as I didn't create the page. I only know about the page because when this edit happened it knocked this Peter O'Brien off. I've done a quick google search on the film maker though and I wouldn't say he's notable. Unfortunately it doesn't look like the person who created the article has edited Wikipedia in a good 10 years.-- 5 albert square (talk) 17:32, 18 December 2020 (UTC)

Hi, 5 albert square! I've just indeffed OmarBritoDeJesús as an obvious sock of the above, and am wondering if he should be added to the SPI page for the record – yes, I ought to know if that's our usual practice, and if so how to do it, but I don't ... so I thought I'd ask you. Regards, Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 15:41, 19 December 2020 (UTC)

Hello Justlettersandnumbers, yes they can be. You would just need to raise a new SPI for it as the current one is already closed. See here for how to open an investigation.-- 5 albert square (talk) 18:05, 19 December 2020 (UTC)

Sock

Hello – the ZestyLemonz sock has just dumped their Joe Warren-Plant article onto my talk page via an IP. Informing you and pinging @RoySmith: so that they can be blocked, and hopefully I won't be dragged back into this mess in future. – DarkGlow () 22:55, 8 January 2021 (UTC)

@Sro23: Also pinging you since you were involved in the SPI DarkGlow () 22:57, 8 January 2021 (UTC)
I see Sro already took care of it. Thank you both. -- RoySmith (talk) 23:28, 8 January 2021 (UTC)
DarkGlow, If you like, I can semi-protect your talk page to prevent future occurrances. Your call. -- RoySmith (talk) 23:30, 8 January 2021 (UTC)
@RoySmith: Yes please Is there a chance they'd drop it onto my user page itself? – DarkGlow () 23:32, 8 January 2021 (UTC)
DarkGlow, Done (both pages). Oh, and 5 albert square, I just realized this conversation was happening on your talk page. My apologies for that. -- RoySmith (talk) 23:35, 8 January 2021 (UTC)
@RoySmith: Thank you – I'd also like to add that Messinwithbruce (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) is worth you keeping an eye on, I've noticed a pattern of behaviour in the pages that they and ZestyLemonz edit on. – DarkGlow () 23:39, 8 January 2021 (UTC)

Warning templates/levels

Hi, I'm Johnnyconnorabc. An IP user (84. 62.89.161) recently added a statement saying 'Jews should die' at the Jewish version section the page about blinis. (To be exact, they changed the section header from 'Jewish version' to 'Jews should die'. I've reverted their edit, but I'm not sure what warning level or even warning template I should give them. Can you help me? This was their only edit. Johnnyconnorabc (talk) 01:07, 10 January 2021 (UTC)Johnnyconnorabc

Hi, as they haven't edited before it should be level 1 for vandalism. If we make it more severe at this stage we could discourage a potential good faith future editor. I've already warned them. 5 albert square (talk) 02:12, 10 January 2021 (UTC)

I inadvertently deleted those two paragraphs under the "Stock sales during COVID-19 pandemic" section while trying to add some text. I assure you that it was not vandalism.

I would, however, like to raise an issue with you:

I was trying to add two paragraphs. They have been deleted by at least two editors. The first paragraph was a quote taken from reference 14 in the article. It was taken down for copyright issues. But the second paragraph in the section (starting On March 20, 2020, the consumer advocacy group . . ) uses the exact same article and yet it remains? And my second paragraph was a quote from Politico.com. It, too, was taken down for the same reason. However, this very article is reference #6 in the article about Kelly Loeffler. What is going on? The Stock sale section leaves the impression that Mr. Sprecker and his wife are under investigation. But nothing is further from the truth. This not fair nor impartial to them. Fgbwashdc (talk) 16:43, 14 January 2021 (UTC)Fgbwashdc

I'm afraid I have no knowledge of this article. This sounds like a content issue, like I said on ClueBot NG's talk page you'll need to take this up on the article talk page. Editors that are familiar with the article will then be able to help 5 albert square (talk) 17:08, 14 January 2021 (UTC)

Stop it with the script

Time is short so I'll be emphatic. Stop it with the scripted changes. Among other things you're changing titles of works, URLs, and (I'm pretty sure) the established date formats of some articles. YOU are responsible for understanding the reviewing edits you make, whether or not a script is involved. And go back and fix everything you've messed up. This kind of mindless gnoming is not only not helpful, it's hugely wasteful of the time of other editors, who have to clean up the messes you're making. EEng 00:07, 21 January 2021 (UTC)

Sorry, people make mistakes. If you'd left me a message I would have rectified it. I didn't particularly appreciate the edit summary-- 5 albert square (talk) 00:12, 21 January 2021 (UTC)
Yeah, well, I don't appreciate having what is probably our highest-profile article for the next week screwed up by a script kiddie searching for a way to feel useful, and other editors shouldn't have to be pointing out these problems to you. I saw instantly that URLs and source titles and direct quotes were being changed, and you should have too -- and you should have immediately stopped using the script. In order to not be a net negative this kind of work needs to be 99.9% accurate or better. A script that makes errors like that should not be used under any circumstances. Now, what's your plan for cleaning up your mess? I am not joking. EEng 01:02, 21 January 2021 (UTC)
Ohconfucius This is your script, it's been changing the titles of works, URLs, established date formats of articles etc.The edits have been reverted but making you aware.-- 5 albert square (talk) 01:14, 21 January 2021 (UTC)
And filenames too. Ohc, I'm really surprised. EEng 01:15, 21 January 2021 (UTC)

No. You've been changing the titles of works, URLS, etc. You used a script to do it. The hammer didn't bend the nail, you bent the nail, using a hammer. This is not splitting hairs: you are responsible for every edit with your name on it, regardless what tool you use to make it. Of course you should notify someone of an error in their script, if there is one (on the script-user Talk page, not here). If the script is incorrect, notify them and/or press the panic button to stop it, if it has one. Mathglot (talk) 01:57, 21 January 2021 (UTC)
That's not what I meant and I've already done that. Thanks.-- 5 albert square (talk) 02:01, 21 January 2021 (UTC)
@EEng and Mathglot:The changes to the article were due to the use of the "slash dates" module within the script which users have been warned in the script documentation about, principally of its light protection mechanism. This protection has since been upgraded and I believe most of the issues have now been addressed. -- Ohc ¡digame! 10:10, 23 January 2021 (UTC)
