Marnus Labuschagne[edit]

You would need a reliable source discussing Labuschagne. There have been a lot of players over the last ten years making their debuts with an average of around the same mark (e.g. Nic Maddinson, Alex Doolan). Mitchell Marsh had a much lower average. Hi @StAnselm, thanks for your message. If I remember correctly, Alex Doolan was averaging just under 40 and Nic Maddinson was averaging around 36 (which is close to Labuschagne) when selected (I know Doolan's average has since dropped). Also, Mitchell Marsh was selected as an all-rounder so isn't relevant. While those are good examples, I don't think there were a lot of players as you say, I'm pretty sure Labuschagne was the lowest in at least the last 10 years, maybe more. How exactly would you source a statement like that though? Could I just link to a list of the recent test caps for Australia? An examination of (the batters on) that list would prove that statement. 66.180.180.73 (talk) 13:01, 10 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

But that doesn't give the average at the time of debut. And in any case, it would still be original research. We would need a reliable source saying this about Labuschagne. StAnselm (talk) 18:18, 10 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
