Consensus process[edit]

Hi. I see that you have become involved in a dispute at List of One Tree Hill characters. I can see that you've put a lot of time into working on that article, but I'm afraid that the regular contributors there feel that your changes are against "consensus." Consensus pretty much governs all of Wikipedia. Wikipedia:Consensus explains how it works.

I've asked one of the contributors to explain his concerns about your changes at Talk:List of One Tree Hill characters. Would you please read his explanation and, if you disagree, talk about why there? This will help you avoid "edit warring", which could lead to your IP being blocked from contributing. Please note that the three-revert rule (3RR, we call it) prohibits making more than three reversions on a single page within a 24-hour period. Additionally, users who perform several reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring even if they don't technically violate that rule. You're already on the brink of violating 3RR, and I have to tell you that if you revert the article again you may be blocked from editing without further notice.

At this point, you really need to talk to the other editors about how to develop the article from here. Maybe once you explain your motivations they'll agree with you. If not, maybe you can reach a compromise. If talking there proves unsuccessful, you can seek dispute resolution. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 13:33, 7 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I apologize if I didn't give you in depth information on why I have been reverting your edits. For this you go to "view history" at the top of the page, this will tell you who has reverted your edit and hopefully why. A List of Characters on Wikipedia has "Main characters (In credit order)" "Former main characters (Order they left the show)". Those two come first. The next three Recurring, Guest and Special guest can go in any order, but they have to be separate. The box you put at the top of the page is good, yes, but on here those boxes are used for the main show pages see: 90210 characters on main page. 2 other people have reverted your edits so it's not just me who sees this is what's best for the page. So please speak to your other edits and get involved rather than just keep re-making the edits and ignoring them. Also when you make an edit above "Save page" theres a white box please fill it with reasons that's called an "edit summary". I will bring this up for discussion if you feel that after that explanation you still disagree. Jayy008 (talk) 14:05, 7 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

July 2010[edit]

You have been blocked from editing for a period of 55 hours to prevent further disruption caused by your engagement in an edit war. During a dispute, you should first try to discuss controversial changes and seek consensus. If that proves unsuccessful you are encouraged to seek dispute resolution, and in some cases it may be appropriate to request page protection. If you would like to be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|your reason here}} below. Moonriddengirl (talk) 12:41, 8 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

One Tree Hill[edit]

Hello, I'm glad you're making the effort to get involved, it's a step in the right direction :). Before you make edits again, you should take the time to see why you've been blocked in the past and if there's a discussion you could get involved in to voice your opinions on the matter, we're here to listen. This is the reason why your edits get blocked: Having the page with characters bolded ruins direct linking to the page from other pages. A character box shouldn't be on the page as well, they go on the main show page. Also all characters should be included on the List of page... even if they have they're own pages. Please just read this, it's Wikipedia, we can't make up rules based on what we think looks good or whatever. Thank you. Jayy008 (talk) 20:53, 16 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Blocked[edit]

You have again been blocked for disruption. Please review your prior note about how to achieve consensus. Repeatedly restoring the article to your preferred version without ever discussing it with those who disagree is not in keeping with Wikipedia's model and will not be permitted. When other editors object, you must convince them of your approach through conversation. If you should decide that you would like to engage in conversation at the talk page instead of repeatedly ignoring all input, you may request unblocking here by adding the text {{unblock|your reason here}}. If as you have done in the past you simply return to the article from another IP, that IP will also be blocked and the article may again be semi-protected to prevent your editing it at all. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 11:54, 18 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
