Welcome![edit]

Hello, A14costa, and welcome to Wikipedia! My name is Shalor and I work with the Wiki Education Foundation; I help support students who are editing as part of a class assignment.

I hope you enjoy editing here. If you haven't already done so, please check out the student training library, which introduces you to editing and Wikipedia's core principles. You may also want to check out the Teahouse, a community of Wikipedia editors dedicated to helping new users. Below are some resources to help you get started editing.

Hi Ali,

My name is David Alves and I was born in Rhode Island. My parents found out that I am deaf when I was two years old and they decided to sent me to the Rhode Island School for the Deaf. I traveled to Portugal often to visit my grandmother and other family that are still living there. I graduated from Gallaudet University last May 2017 with BA in Deaf Studies and minors in Education and ASL. I am currently a part time student at Boston University. I am also currently working at the Rhode Island School for the Deaf as a Job Coach under the Transition Service program and also employed as a Substitute Teacher.

Ali, hope you are doing well. I am unsure if this is the correct place to post an introduction of myself. Hopefully I am doing this the right way. See you this Monday!

Response to your message from Shane[edit]

Hi! Thanks for your post on my talk page! I am still figuring out how to communicate through this project too. I am currently a PhD student in Linguistics at Gallaudet, and I majored in Deaf Studies at BU a long time ago (graduated in 1999)! I think most of the recent edits you see on the page are from me. I added a paragraph to the "Role of input and the environment" section, wrote the "Early stages" section, and did some editing on the intro paragraph. The intro paragraph is still problematic, but since it is supposed to reflect the content of the article, I figured it would be better to leave it until you had finished with your editing. My class is done with our work on this project now, but please feel free to be in touch if you want to talk about any of the issues with this page. Also, please feel free to edit any of my additions. Glad to know that you and your class are working to improve this content! Shane.blau (talk) 21:48, 8 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Notifying someone[edit]

Hi A14costa! A good way to let someone know that you're responding to them is to ping them by writing one of the following:

  • {{u|Shalor (Wiki Ed)}}
  • {{ping|Shalor (Wiki Ed)}}
  • [[User:Shalor (Wiki Ed)|Shalor (Wiki Ed)]]

Any of the above will give them a notification at the top of the page via the bell image. If they don't respond, a good alternative is also message them on their talk page to let them know that you responded. Cheers! Shalor (Wiki Ed) (talk) 14:44, 3 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
