Hi A21sauce; you asked for some guidance to help improve your copy-editing. Thank your for showing a willingness to do this; it shows you care about the quality of your edits. Firstly, I recommend reading some of the advice linked from the page here; the Guild's how-to page is a good place to start.
When you asked about reviewing other editors' work, I didn't recognise your user name so I checked some of your work during the Guild's April Copy-editing Blitz; amongst these:
- Although you made some good edits at Aquaman; your edits were reverted because they introduced far too many wikilinks into the article. We don't normally link common terms; most readers will understand words like 'critics', 'visual effects', 'pirates' and 'lava'; see MOS:LINK. Here is the reversion.
- You also changed

- In Villain, you wikilinked common words like 'motivation', 'catalyst', 'instinct' and 'English actor'. You also introduced a couple of typos ('readers of viewers' and 'Other have pointed out'), and missed several chances to improve the text.
You've also made lots of helpful changes to the articles, and the point of Blitzes is to improve articles, not to make them 'perfect'. I think you need to slow down and take your time to read and understand what the article is telling you before making changes. Check references if you're not sure what the text means (I do this quite often and it's often enlightening!); if you're working on a page from the Requests page, it's often helpful to ask the requester what the text means.
My concern about reviewing was that if you hadn't realised you made the above mistakes, you wouldn't have spotted them in copy-edits you were reviewing. I see you've been around WP for over ten years and I hope you don't think I'm pulling you down; nobody is perfect—I still make silly typos for time to time. Please continue copy-editing at the Guild; there are plenty of experienced editors who will be happy to give advice and help you out. Once you've worked on a few drives and blitzes, you'll feel more confident and if you still want to do some reviewing, please ask again; reviewers are always in short supply!

- I agree with Miniapolis. In this edit, for example, duplicate links were added, which contradicts the MOS:DUPLINK guideline. In this edit, citations supporting specific claims in a BLP were removed; it is a common practice in BLPs to source individual statements immediately after each statement, which helps with maintenance if information is added, removed, or reorganized. I recommend that you read the guideline linked above; it has some subtlety to it, so it is worth returning to periodically. Also please read MOS:OVERLINK; your edits linked common English words like "volunteer" and "divorce" used in their normal contexts, which is contrary to that guideline.
- I also recommend reading the second sentence at WP:PERSONAL: "Comment on content, not on the contributor." Addressing a fellow editor as "dude" may be interpreted as disrespectful communication, especially if that editor is female. Maybe "dude" is an acceptable form of address toward people of all genders in your local culture, but Wikipedia is a global community, where words may be interpreted differently by people who come from cultures that are different from yours. I have found that it is best to adopt a neutral, albeit sometimes boring, tone when commenting on editors' contributions, and to avoid addressing other editors in the second person (i.e. "you", "dude", "sir", etc.) when making comments that are critical of that editor's contributions.
- To be clear, I have made all of the mistakes that you have made in the edits above and in your recent conflict with multiple editors. We all started somewhere. The key things, in my view, are to learn, and grow, and become a positive contributor to the Wikipedia community. We are here to support you if you are willing to do those things. Completely valid criticism: I feel like I've been spending my time batting away the skeptics of the second page, the Japanese woman. I feel like those editors would also use similar arguments about these other women because there's even less documentation about them but they *are* university-level scholars!
