Crossing the Quality Chasm[edit]

I just wanted to drop by and tell you that your edits look great so far. The only concern I had was the lack of a reference for this [1] edit. I'm sure you had a reason, but I just wanted to let you know! Cheers! Ronk01 talk 04:43, 7 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for dropping by. I need to watch a tutorial or something about the citations. I understand the internal links to other wiki articles but I am not clear about external links and references. Any suggestions?AC19 (talk) 00:41, 10 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The simplest way is to use the ref tags like this :<ref>SOURCE HERE</ref>. There are other ways that the tutorials describe, but for a one time reference to a work, it works out well. Otherwise, you would use the citation button on the edit interface, choose the appropriate media type, enter the pertinent information into the fields provided, ensuring to provide a refname, as this allows you to use the reference multiple times without having issues with ref numbering. To do this, simply type the first name of the author in the "refname" field, and when you want to use it, simply use the <refname=NAME HERE> tag. Hope this helps! Thanks for the good description. I will fix that over the weekend. Is WikiCrazy a word? Or maybe WikiNuts - as in this topic is making me WikiNuts!! It is really challenging to condense a huge complex topic to a few paragraphs - I am getting out the graphic organizer program and see if I can get everything in buckets of information. Will let you know when I get the content in my sandbox.AC19 (talk) 18:15, 10 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I apologize for getting back to you so late, but you might be looking for WP:Wikistress! (P.S. It's generally a good idea to thread comments using colons, i.e. if you comment on a message, use a colon to indent it to make it easier to read. Always use one more colon than the previous commenter. Hope this helps!) Ronk01 talk 23:25, 11 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the suggestions. My original article was based on the US but Richard changed it completely. I agree that this article covers too many topics and is more geared around debate than anything. I will see what I can do. Suzanne10 (talk) 23:39, 31 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
