Your contributed article, 2017 Formula One Season[edit]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, I noticed that you recently created a new page, 2017 Formula One Season. First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page – 2017 Formula One season. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at 2017 Formula One season – you might like to discuss new information at the article's talk page.

If you think the article you created should remain separate, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. ...William, is the complaint department really on the roof? 13:02, 28 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on 2018 Formula One season, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion debate, such as at articles for deletion. Under the specified criteria, where a page has substantially identical content to that of a page deleted after debate, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". Drafts[edit]

Hi, AC9900. To avoid having your articles speedily deleted while they're under construction or for other reasons (before you begin an article, make sure the topic isn't covered already), it's a good idea to write it as a draft in the Draft namespace or as a subpage of your user page rather than in mainspace (the encyclopedia itself). WP:DRAFTS has helpful advice. All the best, Miniapolis 16:53, 28 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Motorsport Defending World Champions[edit]

The article Motorsport Defending World Champions has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

no indication of being an encyclopaedia entry. Wikipedia is not a personal webpage for you to list your favourites. You can do that on facebook

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. noq (talk) 22:08, 29 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Ways to improve Renault eDams[edit]

Hi, I'm Seba5tien. AC9900, thanks for creating Renault eDams!

I've just tagged the page, using our page curation tools, as having some issues to fix. Please don't remove the tags from this article until you have finished making edits or another editor has contributed. Thanks!

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, you can leave a comment on my talk page. Or, for more editing help, talk to the volunteers at the Teahouse. Seba5tien (talk/contribs) 12:38, 30 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Seba5tien what changes do I need to make to my page? AC9900 (talk) 12:47, 30 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, thank you for your message. Please refer to the Your First Article page for an extensive collection and advice and tips to help you develop the article. It is important to contribute articles with sufficient detail, making sure that the topic is notable ("it should have some detailed coverage in good references from independent sources"). This is a key principle of Wikipedia articles. If you're interested in contributing further, take a look here. There are many useful links throughout the Your First Article page which should prove useful. The tags help other users contribute to the page too, please leave them on for now. Thanks! Seba5tien (talk/contribs) 12:51, 30 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Seba5tien Can you help me with editing the page? AC9900 (talk) 12:54, 30 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

After looking at the article, I don't see where there's enough material about the e.dams team to warrant a separate article, especially since it's already covered in the main DAMS article. As a result, I've turned the page you created into a redirect to that already-existing article. —C.Fred (talk) 12:58, 30 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

C.Fred Will I be allowed to edit the DAMS page then? AC9900 (talk) 13:01, 30 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

There's no technical reason you can't edit the article. However, other editors who edit that article will see your edits and may modify or undo them if there are problems with sourcing or formatting. So, I might suggesting going in slow, small, incremental steps with any edits you want to make. —C.Fred (talk) 13:06, 30 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion nomination of FSAC[edit]

A tag has been placed on FSAC requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. Re: Help[edit]

I will help you. A couple of things first, though:

  1. Don't try and bullshit me. You said "This is the real ITCC championship page. But, when I wrote this article, you may have thought it doesn't look like the real ITCC Championship". I am telling you now, your article has NO relation to the real championship. Your teams, drivers, circuits and race formats are all fictional.
  2. This is not acceptable. The notice explicitly states "do not remove this notice from pages that you have created yourself". However, as you seem to want to make an effort the article, I will refrain from restoring the notice at this point.
  3. As I have said already, I do not think the ITCC is sufficiently notable to warrant a Wikipedia article. However, if its creation can help you learn some things about Wikipedia, I am okay with that.

Now, some advice:

  • Firstly, have a read of Wikipedia:Your first article and some of the policies linked to on that page.
  • Do some research on the real ITCC. Here are a couple of links that could help: ITCC's official website and ITCC's page on the Motorsport Ireland website. Try and find some news reports from sources not associated with the series.
  • Look at other series' articles, such as British Touring Car Championship, to get an idea on how championship pages are usually laid out. Obviously, the ITCC page will not be that detailed, but you can take the section titles to use as a template. Take note: you are creating a page for the ITCC, not an ITCC season, so team/driver tables and calendars will not be included. I do not think ITCC season pages should be created as there just is not enough information available. I would set the page out as follows:
    • Introduction
    • History
    • Regulations
    • Race formats
    • List of champions
    • References
    • External links
  • Move the page to Irish Touring Car Championship (the real series uses the singular "car"). This will introduce you to Wikipedia's Move function. Look for categories that the article could be included in, such as Category:Touring car racing series, to familiarise yourself with the use of categories.

Happy editing. – Kytabu 01:14, 16 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, AC9900. I wanted to let you know that I’m proposing an article that you started, 2017 TCR International Series, for deletion because I don't think it meets our criteria for inclusion. If you don't want the article deleted:

  1. edit the page
  2. remove the text that looks like this: {{proposed deletion/dated...}}
  3. save the page

Also, be sure to explain why you think the article should be kept in your edit summary or on the article's talk page. If you don't do so, it may be deleted later anyway.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. CGM 20 (talk) 08:36, 18 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The article Adam Cleary has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no reliable references. Under Wikipedia policy, this biography of a living person will be deleted unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp/dated}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within seven days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. Flash snooker and snooker players[edit]

You making mostly productive edits on motorsport articles but then you keep introducing articles about flash snooker tournaments and players. Flash snooker is jjst a Facebook app and totally non-notable. You also include text like "won the league because his opponent did not arrive to the snooker club". If you and your friends play a snooker game on Facebook and want to dress it up as an international tournament then fine but they are not notable topic and do not belong on Wikipedia. Asking Something[edit]

Nthep (talk) so you are telling me, I should stick to Motorsport edits and all motorsport stuff? AC9900 (talk) 10:03, 28 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Not at all, you're welcome to edit whatever you like. All I suggest is that if you create new articles they are about genuinely notable topics and not about things of no significance to anyone but you. Nthep (talk) 10:54, 28 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

(talk) Ok.. was just wondering.... Could you give me a topic that I could test for "A" article on wikipedia? AC9900 (talk) 11:09, 28 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

There re thousands of topics you could create and article on but you need to read up on notability, sourcing and verifiability before creating one and then either start it in your sandbox User:AC9900/sandbox or via Articles for creation. Nthep (talk) 13:09, 28 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Nthep (talk) could you name a specific Topic to write about? Maybe a Racing Championship? AC9900 (talk) 19:12, 28 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

You know what subjects interest you and what you can lookup and write about. Nthep (talk) 19:15, 28 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Nthep (talk) I would only have one problem.... The subjects that interest me will probably already be on wikipedia. AC9900 (talk) 19:17, 28 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Then look to improving or expanding those. It's all the same guidelines. Nthep (talk) 19:19, 28 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Nthep (talk) I could write about the BRSCC Fiesta Junior Championship.... AC9900 (talk) 19:23, 28 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Well before you do, answer these questions:
  • Is it a notable subject? (See WP:NMOTORSPORT for the guidelines for individuals participating in motorsports and you can extrapolate those to cover the competition itself.
  • Is there widespread cover in reliable third party sources i.e. not just the championships own website. For example does the competition get regular coverage in the mainstream motoring press, not just result listing but reports of meetings/races and the drivers in the competition?
If the answer is yes to both then it is probably a notable topic but you need to establish that straight off not start something with minimal content and no references. Hence my original suggestion to use WP:AFC here you have time on your side, not like you have done at 2017 Premier League Darts - one line (in the wrong tense) and nothing to indicate why it is a notable sporting event. Nthep (talk) 19:42, 28 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Nthep (talk) Question 1: I do think the subject is a notable subject. Question 2: It has its own website and the Motorsport gets shown on Motors TV.

I will be trying to write the article on Google Docs first to see how it looks....

The answer to both questions will be a Yes... AC9900 (talk) 19:48, 28 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Nthep (talk) are those answers good enough? AC9900 (talk) 20:50, 28 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The only way to tell is to draft an article that shows that the answers are yes. Nthep (talk) 21:04, 28 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Nthep (talk) How do I find my draft article? AC9900 (talk) 20:30, 31 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Just click on Contributions at the top of any page. Nthep (talk) 20:55, 31 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Nthep (talk) How much INFO does the article have to have before I send it for verification? AC9900 (talk) 15:49, 1 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

As much as possible. What have you got so far? A couple of sentences that tell us what it's called, who it's for and that it's a single vehicle event. Good start although the link to Ford Fiesta sales site is irrelevant as it's doesn't verify the statement that the championship only uses that make of car. Everything else is useful information but unreferenced - that needs resolving. Also the only other references is the championship's own website so although you have established that the championship exists you need the coverage from reliable third party sources to show that's a notable event.

Nthep (talk) Ok.... I am having trouble finding the champions of it.... only found the 2014 and 2015 champions. AC9900 (talk) 18:00, 1 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

If you can't find what you would think is fairly basic information about a championship, doesn't that start to suggest to you that the championship isn't as notable as you thought? Nthep (talk) 18:58, 1 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Nthep (talk) could you tell me how much more work needs to be done on it? (So I can get it started) AC9900 (talk) 18:19, 1 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Look at other motorsport articles and see what information they have in them. Nthep (talk) 18:58, 1 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Nthep (talk) good tip.... will have a look! AC9900 (talk) 19:01, 1 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Nthep (talk) how do I make the writing on articles small like what they do on other articles? AC9900 (talk) 18:06, 4 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The easiest way is to use the <small> </small> tags around the text you want to be small but I would concentrate on content not formatting at this stage. Nthep (talk) 21:28, 4 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Nthep (talk) Ok.... Cool! Any other tips you could give me about writing articles? AC9900 (talk) 15:29, 5 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

once you have decided on a topic, find the sources to establish not ability before writing anything. Nthep (talk) 09:25, 6 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Nthep is the amount of info on the article good enough yet? AC9900 (talk) 20:12, 7 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

IMO, no Draft:BRSCC Ford Fiesta Junior Championship tells me what? It exists, who can enter, how many races in a season and some previous champions, but that is all factual stuff - there is nothing there to indicate this is a notable motorsport event. There are only three references, two of them to the championship's own website - so not independent and one to the ford.co.uk page on the Fiesta which is irrelevant. Where is the coverage in the motorsport press about meetings, how the championship is helping develop a new generation of drivers at higher levels? That's the type of coverage you need not information about getting involved or how much it costs that looks like it was copied directly from their website. Knowing that it is not a cheap sport to get involved in is intersting but needs critical commentary about it to be included. For example I've no idea from reading this whether the cost is cheap or expensive in regards to other motorsports, is the cost discussed anywhere? Nthep (talk) 21:05, 7 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on 2016 Hong Kong ePrix requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organized event (tour, function, meeting, party, etc.), but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator.
