Abani79, in your recent set of edits on Semitic languages you removed a large number of in-line citations from the lead section, as you wrote with the objective to "avoid fill up the lead with unwanted, unreliable sources". Much as I agree with your desire that unreliable sources should be removed from Wikipedia wherever possible, I don't see how you want to reach that goal by removing the only citations in the article from facts that clearly need to be referenced, such as population figures that happen to be only presented in the lead. So in that sweeping de-sourcing you removed references to, for example, Owen's Oxford Handbook of Arabic Linguistics, which, as far as I can say, is neither fulfilling your criterion of being unwanted (as this figure of 300 million speakers is not referenced anywhere else in the article, but was in fact quite contested at some stage), nor is it by any reasonable standard an unreliable source. Please revisit your edits and make sure that all facts from which you removed the references are sourced at least once somewhere else in the article, in order to fulfil Wikipedia's much more important requirement to provide reliable sources, which trumps any beautification efforts according to the MOS. BTW, I don't really see any reference in the MOS amounting to a justification of your desire in the note you left behind. Here a relevant citation from the MOS: "The lead must conform to verifiability, biographies of living persons, and other policies. The verifiability policy advises that material that is challenged or likely to be challenged, and direct quotations, should be supported by an inline citation. Any statements about living persons that are challenged or likely to be challenged must have an inline citation every time they are mentioned, including within the lead" and "there is not, however, an exception to citation requirements specific to leads". With this is mind, I believe that your edits are overshooting the intended goals. I'll give you some time (until after Christmas) to rework it to accomplish what you want in an acceptable manner (meaning: adhering to the Wikipedia citation requirements), before I need to revert your edit as a whole. Secondly, Amharic, since last year, is no longer the sole national language of Ethiopia - it has been joined by Tigrinya, Oromo, Somali and Afar.
