Hey there. Welcome to Wikipedia. When you get a chance, feel free to drop us a note at Wikipedia:New user log to introduce yourself. As a Tacoman myself, I hope you stay around and help to improve the article.

There's a lot of information out there, and we can't collect it alone, Hope to see your contributions in the future!

If you want a little help (and we all do sometimes), any one of these articles could be of use.

Welcome is a good place to start.

Wikipedia:Tutorial runs through all the basics.

Wikipedia:How does one edit a page gives editing help.

Wikipedia:Manual of Style gives formatting info.

Wikipedia:Policies and guidelines tell about the principles we operate on. It's important, but don't try to read it all now.

Wikipedia:Help covers a broad range of useful topics.

Wikipedia:Help desk is a place to ask questions.

Wikipedia:Show preview explains how to double-check your edits before saving.

You can sign your name on talk pages by using "~~~" for your username and "~~~~" for your username and a timestamp. Thats only needed for talk pages though, not main articles.

You should also feel free to drop me a question on my talk page. I'll answer if I'm here.

Happy editing -- Dragoonmac - If there was a problem yo I'll solve it 21:35, 1 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No, I don't work for wikipedia, I guess you could call me a volunteer, but I don't think thats quite it. I left you a message because I saw you had improved the Tacoma article, an article on my watchlist, and an interest of mine. I saw from your signature that you had neither a userpage, nor a talkpage, meaning no-one had welcomed you yet (It's tradition to welcome new editors). I took the liberty to do so. Glad to have you with us. -- Dragoonmac - If there was a problem yo I'll solve it 22:55, 2 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. The Tacoma page is interesting and is getting better. Hope it doesn't become a tug of war. The best I can figure is that Wikipedia represents a consensus of knowledge for better or worse.

Yeah, on wikipedia thats called an Edit War or sometimes a Wheel War. They don't happen very often though. To answer your question on my talk page (which I'm going to move because I'm a bit anal about digital organization) someone might want to delete an Article or Image for a variety of reasons. WP:CFD should halp clarify wht, but WP:BJAODN has some examples of deleted pages and pictures, and why they were deleted. If a person reverts/reuploads content that was deleted by vote (thats kinda how things are done, as we are a English (in language and culture) Wikipedia. Hope that little mess of stuff I just wrote helps you out. On a side note please remember to sign your comments, It's kinda tedious, and we all forget sometimes, just go back and sign em retroactively (I think about half my talk page edits are forgot to sign edits). -- Dragoonmac - If there was a problem yo I'll solve it 00:25, 3 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
