Understood, Thank You. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.66.163.150 (talk) 16:07, 1 April 2009 (UTC)

I am a member of Tennessee Methamphetamine Task Force, much of the information I have on this group is not published on the internet, am I allowed to refernce TMTF intel and reports as well as other law enforcement agencies? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.66.163.150 (talk) 16:23, 1 April 2009 (UTC)

Also, local newspapers such as The Commercial Appeal and The Shelby Sun Times have had articles on this topic but again these are not available on the internet. FOX13 (local news) also had a story on this topic but the video clip is no longer on FOX13 website. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.66.163.150 (talk) 16:33, 1 April 2009 (UTC)

In general, the TMTF would be considered a primary source, and as such wouldn't be allowable, as encyclopedias use secondary and tertiary sources: i.e., we aren't a publisher of original research. However, the newspapers certainly are acceptable sources, as is the TV station, provided you can reference it to date, title, etc.: it doesn't have to be available on the Web. If you have clippings, that would be enough, as long as you can credit the newspaper to date, writer and title. I'm somehwat skeptical about the gang's notability, but if they've been the subject of significant criminal investigation in a city the size of Memphis, I think that's probably good enough (well, not good, but you know what I mean). Acroterion (talk) 19:55, 1 April 2009 (UTC)

I added some more specific references, please make sure I have done this correctly. Also, are mugshots allowed? Gang member's mugshots can be refernced to (http://shelbywarrants.org/) as well as FOX13 Memphis. —Preceding unsigned comment added by TnMethTaskForce (talkcontribs) 23:32, 1 April 2009 (UTC)

In general, I think that mugshots would run afoul of our notability policies and biographies of living persons policies. Unless the person's made the national news, I'd suggest that mugshots are inappropriate. Also, any images posted to Wikipedia or Wikimedia Commons would be freely licensed, which I doubt would comply with Tennessee or Shelby County policies or Wikipedia's, since you personally don't own a copyright on the images (the county/city/state does), and they aren't yours (personally) to post for unrestricted use by anyone for any reason. Acroterion (talk) 00:33, 2 April 2009 (UTC)

Apologies.

Yes I can provide such things, and thank you for being sympathetic to the arts. When and if I try this again, I'll remove the 'placeholder' content. Sorry about that. I take for granted how "live" it was. I need a sandbox or something.

Go ahead and edit, learn how to improve articles, participate in the community, and accumulate experience, so that after a while and a few thousand edits, you can make a request for administratorship. Administrators are volunteers: read WP:ADMIN for details. Being an admin is mostly boring work, keeping the wiki swept out, and occasionally it's pretty dreary. Temporary injunction and your use of my monobook script

Hi Acroterion,

I am pleased to see that you have used my monobook script in the past; I hope you've found it useful.

I have to let you know on your talk page that ArbCom has announced a temporary injunction against the "mass delinking of dates". You can still delink dates on an occasional basis; however, you may wish to be cautious and use the script only for its non-date functions until the issue is resolved by an RFC poll. You may wish to express your view on autoformatting and date linking in the RFC at: Wikipedia:Date_formatting_and_linking_poll.

Regards Lightmouse (talk) 18:10, 7 April 2009 (UTC)

I've just used it here and there, consistent with my comments on the poll (where I seem to be in agreement with the majority of commenters, so far). Thanks for the note. Acroterion (talk) 19:00, 7 April 2009 (UTC)

You are welcome. Lightmouse (talk) 21:30, 7 April 2009 (UTC)

RfA

Thank you for taking care of several CSD's that had been sitting in wait. I am considering putting in an RfA, but it would look better if I can find someone to endorse/nominate me. Please, look through my history (nearly a year, twinkle/friendly/rollback).... I would still use a CSD tag when I am not sure, but it would be great if I could delete the obvious CSD A7/G3/G11's that I deal with every day. Just let me know what you think, thanks! Deletion and my recreation of Gillian filan

While I was browsing the CSD category I came across this article. While I agree that she's not notable enough for her own article I thought that the fact that someone had created the article meant that it was probably a viable search term so was in the middle of redirecting to her husbands page, where she is mentioned, when you deleted the page. Have now recreated the page as a redirect. No point in undeleting as I'm not re-using anything that was there. Hope this is OK with you. Dpmuk (talk) 22:04, 8 April 2009 (UTC)

Sure, that's fine with me. Acroterion (talk) 22:07, 8 April 2009 (UTC)

The article did not indicate that the organization was notable in accordance with our requirements. I rather doubt that an organization less than a month old has received multiple non-trivial notices in independent media. Acroterion (talk) 02:01, 10 April 2009 (UTC)

Centrifugal Force

Acroterion, I'd be grateful if you could keep an eye on the centrifugal force page again. There isn't going to be an edit war, but I'm going to make an attempt to tidy up a section on that page. Any sign of an edit war and I'll pull out, but I'd be grateful if you could monitor it to see if certain persons are maliciously undoing any edits that I make. A polite complaint

why the hell did you delete my page! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Salrovella (talkcontribs) 11:39, 12 April 2009 (UTC)

Because Wikipedia is not for promotion, and because the term predates World War II, possibly WWI. It most certainly did not originate with CoD. Acroterion (talk) 11:42, 12 April 2009 (UTC)

Hi. Why did you delete the article about XSitePro? It seems odd when there are articles on all of the other HTML editors. Please refer to the following:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_HTML_editors

It seems odd that there are articles on all the HTML editors listed EXCEPT for XSitePro. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Frankbenny (talkcontribs) 12:26, 12 April 2009 (UTC)

Please rewrite article

You deleted the article on XSitePro which is referenced by the following page.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_HTML_editors

Can you please add the necessary article on XSitePro as now this page is going to be inaccurate. I'm still mystified as to why you 'delete' an article rather than add to it, when it is a perfectly valid article and one that adds to the completeness of Wikipedia.

If you are to delete the XSitePro article I feel you should also, for fairness sake, be deleting all of the following:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freeway_(software) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adobe_Dreamweaver http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microsoft_Expression_Web http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RapidWeaver http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SeaMonkey

I was going to get going on adding the other editors that are missing from the following page:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_HTML_editors

but it seems like I will be wasting my time if people like you just go around deleting pages for no VALID reason, rather than adding to them, which is what I think you should be doing. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Frankbenny (talkcontribs) 12:41, 12 April 2009 (UTC)

I deleted the article because it made no assertion of significance and consisted almost entirely of links back to the company: in other words, it looked a lot like spam. I have no objection to its re-creation, provided documentation is provided of its notability in non-trivial references in independent media. You were the editor who added it to the list of HTML editors, so your argument that "it's on the list" is invalid. Not every HTML editor is necessarily eligible for inclusion. I have copied the content into you User:Frankbenny/sandbox for you to work on. Acroterion (talk) 15:52, 12 April 2009 (UTC)

Congrats on your special day ... a well deserved tribute! Can you take a look at the text added to NRHP entry Mount Harmon by user User talk:Enchanted Forest? It is totally unattributed and I want to know what you think. Thanks in advance.--Pubdog (talk) 01:39, 14 April 2009 (UTC)

I fear that it's been copied from a text somewhere; nothing turns up on Google. In any case, it needs to be extensively pruned, wikified and and formatted. I've left a nice note on the editor's talkpage and a welcome; we'll see what they say. See also St. Stephen's Episcopal Church (Earleville, Maryland). Deletion of Levels of Awesome

Hello Kind Sir,

I am curious as to why my Levels of Awesome entry was flagged as G3:Vandalism and deleted from Wikipedia. I fail to understand how my entry includes blatant or obvious misinformation. There are levels of awesomeness and anyone that has watched the television show on CBS "How I Met Your Mother" can attest to this fact based upon the repeated wisdom of Barny Stinson as played by Neil Patrick Harris (see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barney_Stinson#Catchphrases).

I will grant you that I cannot 100% verify the capacity of bears to recognize rawksomeness, but then again, Wikipedia's entry on Human-Bear interactions (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bears#Relationship_with_humans) is not very thorough and therefore does not disprove nor dispel the idea that bears cannot. (I would certainly contend that a certain, smarter-than-your-average bear would have the ability to communicate with humans, but his ability to recognize rawksome would still be questionable [1].)

So, besides the potentially unsupportable hypothesis about bears' speech capacity, which can easily be removed, I do not believe my entry so flagrantly violates Wikipedia's standards as claimed.

Could you please reinstate my entry, or at least produce for me peer-reviewed studies that show my entry to contain other erroneous (blatant and/or obvious) information?

Thank you. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Gibreal (talkcontribs) 17:32, 16 April 2009 (UTC)

Sadly, no. Amusing as it is, it is up to you to provide sources that comply with Wikipedia's requirements for verifiability. Acroterion (talk) 17:51, 16 April 2009 (UTC)

GeekDad deletion?

This is a particularly relevant blog receiving well over 20k hits per day and has won multiple awards as a top blog. What more do I need to do to get it un-deleted? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Batman88 (talkcontribs) 21:21, 17 April 2009 (UTC)

See WP:WEB for notability criteria for web content. You'll need to find coverage by independent media of some significant standing, apart from Wired, obviously, that indicates that the blog has received notice in the wider media. Can you document those awards? Also, it's best to use a sandbox, like User:Batman88/sandbox to construct the article before putting it out in article space. Fuel TV sysop unprotection request

I filed a report on WP:RFPP but they said contact you directly. Please remove the sysop protection on Fuel TV. The content dispute and flame war were both resolved. I see no need for the sysop any longer. Part of my early unblock was I promised to stay away from it for a few weeks until it cools down, and I will. I also promised not to exceed 1RR and I have apologized to delicious carbuncle and I won't bother him any more. TomCat4680 (talk) 16:50, 19 April 2009 (UTC)

Done. I'm glad to see that you've sorted things out. Thanks for working through the issue and making peace. Acroterion (talk) 16:54, 19 April 2009 (UTC)

The article has been recreated. The user appears to have a very limited understanding of what Wikipedia actually is. J Milburn (talk) 21:26, 20 April 2009 (UTC)

Oh, you beat me there. I would support a block, this user really isn't helping. J Milburn (talk) 21:27, 20 April 2009 (UTC)
That's where we're headed if this keeps up - I note his comments re: you. Acroterion (talk) 21:27, 20 April 2009 (UTC)
He was responsible for the terrible state of Manu Sharma fairly recently, and was happy to edit war to keep his preferred version (BLP-vios, serious POV issues, copyright violations etc) and is now back to editing the article, complete with legalese, a self-professed conflict of interest and refusal to cite sources. I've warned him for 3RR and pointed him to various policies, but I really don't want this. I think the article should have been deleted a long time ago, and the last thing I want to do is block/protect/delete myself. Long story short- could you do something about this, if need be? Do you think it's worth bringing up on a noticeboard? I really don't think this editor is adding anything to the project. J Milburn (talk) 21:38, 20 April 2009 (UTC)
There we go, 3RR- fourth revert. No attempt at discussion anywhere, dispite my attempts to contact him on his talk page. Will you block, or should I report it? J Milburn (talk) 21:39, 20 April 2009 (UTC)
Bloody hell, you're quick. Thankyou. You've beaten me to dealing with everything I've reported. J Milburn (talk) 21:40, 20 April 2009 (UTC)
He can't say he wasn't warned, and I was sitting on it waiting for 4RR. I can see that there's a lengthy history of blocking which gives me little faith that matters will improve. His talk page is littered with copyvio notices as well. You were correct to avoid use of admin tools in this matter, although the copyvio+personal opinion+BLP stuff gives you a pass on the reverts in my opinion. Acroterion (talk) 21:45, 20 April 2009 (UTC)
Thanks a lot for your help in this issue. J Milburn (talk) 21:50, 20 April 2009 (UTC)
You're welcome, but I doubt it's the last we see of this. You don't see edit-warring/copyvio/BLP/personal attacks/COI in one package like that very often. Acroterion (talk) 22:00, 20 April 2009 (UTC)

I left a longer message for J Milburn on his talk page a bit ago but... You two BIT this editor rather than assuming good faith - and, rather annoyingly, he was factually right on the status of the appeal, AND in the right under WP:BLP regarding defamatory information on article subjects.

I'm going to follow up with more after I get done with his OTRS complaint, but jeez, guys, please don't do this sort of thing. I agree he didn't play nice, but you two escalated this all rather than AGFing and this wasn't helpful. Georgewilliamherbert (talk) 03:28, 21 April 2009 (UTC)

Looks like I owe an apology. Acroterion (talk) 11:49, 21 April 2009 (UTC)
I've explained why this was a rather simplistic view on George's talk page. This user is far better off blocked. J Milburn (talk) 21:50, 21 April 2009 (UTC)
I understand, but I am concerned about the apparent fact the the editor was, in fact, correct on the BLP issue. I was concerned about that at the time, and didn't pursue my own inquiry - shame on me. On the other points, the editor's attitudes toward copyright, civility and edit-warring are self-evident. There's no cost to unblock, and if the editor shows a willingness to do as I asked, to use the talk page and appropriate edit summaries, then fine. If it continues as before, then it's easy enough to re-block. Acroterion (talk) 22:34, 21 April 2009 (UTC)
I can accept that, but I think the user has had enough second chances, and has shown no improvement after any of them. I am waiting for George's advise regarding the issue- I may take it to the noticeboards yet. J Milburn (talk) 20:21, 22 April 2009 (UTC)
Don't let me get in the way of a noticeboard discussion - I came in because of the OTRS complaint, had to dig the sources he was pointing to, and responded to what I found. Him being factually right on the latest point is not relevant to a history of disruption, if there's one there. I was trying not to get too tangled up in the other aspects of it, sorry if it seemed like I was holding things up. Feel free to file a note on ANI. Georgewilliamherbert (talk) 21:32, 22 April 2009 (UTC)
I've been waiting to see what the editor's next move is, and will base my reaction on that. He hasn't edited since being blocked, and I left him some advice on unblocking. We'll see if he takes it. Acroterion (talk) 21:51, 22 April 2009 (UTC)

Proposal to add new content to WTC7

I propose to add details from the new NIST report[1]. There, the collapse is described in three phases: (Cite page 87)

  • In Stage 1, the descent was slow and the acceleration was less than that of gravity. (until t=1.75s)
  • In Stage 2, the north face descended at gravitational accelaration (between t=1.75s and t=4.0s)
  • In Stage 3, the acceleration decreased somewhat as the upper portion of the north face encountered increased resistance from the collapsed structure and the debris pile below. (between t=4.0s and t=5.4s)

Also Fig.3-15 of pdf page 88 should be included in the article for a better understanding. As far as is saw is the new report not yet included in the articles references.

Is it possible to include this information, or are there any reasons why it can/should be excluded? Johninwiki (talk) 02:06, 23 April 2009 (UTC)

You should make this proposal on the article talkpage so the involved editors can discuss. I'm not sure that the figure's in the public domain (although I suspect it is). Acroterion (talk) 02:09, 23 April 2009 (UTC)
Thank you for the quick answer. I added the proposal to Talk:World_Trade_Center#WTC7 yesterday (and now a revised vesion), but without any response so far.. After I saw that you are also one of the editors, I was interested to hear your opinion. Is there any "Editor in charge" for WTC7 which I may ask ? Johninwiki (talk) 02:38, 23 April 2009 (UTC)
These things take some time to develop unless it's a highly-trafficked article. I have taken no significant role in editing that article, apart from dealing with vandalism or poorly-considered/undiscussed edits. Since it's a wiki, there's no "editor in charge" for any of the 2.8 million articles here. You must convince the community at large that your edits are worthwhile. Most of the time that's not hard, but as WTC 7 is a featured article, editors will demand more, especially since it's in the 9/11-related category and attracts some interesting ideas. Acroterion (talk) 02:47, 23 April 2009 (UTC)

Plagiarism question

Hey Acroterion, you know your way around Wikipedia better than I. I found an article whose lead paragraph is directly taken from a copyrighted work without attribution. I don't have the time right now to rewrite the paragraph properly and wonder if there is some way to flag this for the wiki community for another editor to correct it? pmcyclist (talk) 21:31, 26 April 2009 (UTC)

I think your simplest option is to post about it at Wikipedia:Copyright problems, and others will address it. If you want to go further, you can yourself tag the article with {{copyvio}}, which is more extreme, as it blanks the article. There are more instructions about notifications and listing on a central work-page you should follow, too, at wp:copyvio. There certainly is a centralized process to handle these. You can contribute the info that there appears to be a problem, but you don't need to take on the entire solution by yourself. Hope this helps. doncram (talk) 21:47, 26 April 2009 (UTC)
Thanks so much, peanut gallery, for your advice. I will do that! pmcyclist (talk) 22:45, 26 April 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for the talkpage stalking, Doncram, your advice is better than I would have managed, since I wasn't necessarily aware of the Copyright problems page. Short of personally rewriting it, that's your best option. Acroterion (talk) 23:53, 26 April 2009 (UTC)
Glad u dont mind my butting in. :) Plagiarism is a topic that interests me, otherwise i wouldn't have been likely to come visit. I was deceived, this was about copyvio, tho, which is different. (You can plagiarise from a public domain source, for example, where there is no copyvio possible.) About plagiarism, vote for a guideline at wt:plagiarism, an open RfC ... doncram (talk) 00:39, 27 April 2009 (UTC)
Thanks to both of you. I found out that the publishing house was in fact copying from wiki rather than the other way around. Case solved, Watson! pmcyclist (talk) 23:59, 26 April 2009 (UTC)
I've discovered other instances of circular attribution (a nicer term than a crib straight from Wikipedia) that trace back to a Wikipedian origin - it can get pretty confusing (and it's amusing when it appears in a broadly-circulated publication). Acroterion (talk) 02:49, 27 April 2009 (UTC)

Sslota

Hiya,

Sslota (talk · contribs) put a help request on your page; I've moved it over to User_talk:Sslota#Help_request and answered it there.

Just a small point, but please note that when you welcome people (as you did here), please;

  • Put the welcome in a new section on their page ( == Welcome == ) - even if it's a brand-new page. This gets the new user off to a good start in learning how talk pages work, etc.
  • Please use {{subst:welcome}} instead of just {{welcome}} - so that the code itself is put onto their page instead of a transclusion. Again, this helps to make things more understandable to our new users.

There are policies on this, but I can't be bothered to dig them out right now :-) I hope my explanations will suffice.

Cheers, and keep up the good work helping new users.  Chzz  ►  04:28, 29 April 2009 (UTC)

I am aware of those policies, however I find that I can't be bothered to follow them with 100% consistency. Acroterion (talk) 12:05, 29 April 2009 (UTC)

Brian Olsen Art in Action Page

Good morning. I apologize again. I truly am not trying to create an advertisement - I added my external links in a way to show allowable use of similar information. I thought this was needed for reference. I would be glad to remove them, but could use your help to understand how not to get flagged with copyright violations - perhaps the copyright notice without links to the site are enough?

I am simply trying to create a real connection between Brian Olsen and Denny Dent on wikipedia. Many other artists are trying to draw a connection between themselves and Denny and Brian is the only person whom Denny ever worked with.

I apologize - I truly am trying to understand and follow the copyright pages. Your assistance is sincerely appreciated.

Help changing the source on an uploaded photo?

Hey Acroterion, you know most things wiki... A photo I uploaded last year has been tagged as unsourced. It appears on the article USS Sangay (AE-10), and the photo is the ship's motto Sangay.jpg. I think I incorrectly attributed the source of the image as "self" because I took the photo, when it really is a derivative photo of a work of the US Government (Navy to be specific). My question is this: is it possible to edit the source and copyright information on an already-uploaded photo, or is the best way to make a change to simply upload the photo again with the correct information. I believe the image is free to use as a government work product and I think it adds to the ship's article and would like to keep it if possible. What's you're advice? Thanks in advance! pmcyclist (talk) 14:08, 4 May 2009 (UTC)

If "by most things wiki", you mean 51% of what I ought to know, you're in the ballpark, but this is actually in my area. Yes, you can always change the license/attribution. You ought to back it up with a correct source URL if you can find one. It certainly is a charming illustration, and since the original picture was done on Government time, as was, presumably the original photograph, I think you're safe. You took a picture of a picture? You should probably describe it in the comment field. You should be reasonably satisfied that the picture whose picture you took is, in fact, public domain, and substantiate it. Acroterion (talk) 14:29, 4 May 2009 (UTC)
You're just being modest. On the street you're known as the Wiki Wizard! I couldn't figure out how to edit the image page to change the copyright and description. Noting that it was requested to move to the commons anyway I have uploaded the image to the commons with the correct information. The image residing on wikipedia can be deleted now. Thanks for your help! pmcyclist (talk) 18:55, 4 May 2009 (UTC)
Now that I look at it again, you're right; I do all my image work on Commons, where you can edit all of the information. Here, you can't. There's that 49% ignorance creeping in. Acroterion (talk) 19:21, 4 May 2009 (UTC)

Autumn —Preceding unsigned comment added by Autopritts (talkcontribs) 21:30, 9 May 2009 (UTC)

Please refer to Wikipedia's requirements for the notability of individuals. All content must be sourced and must pass that threshold for notability. Wikipedia is not MySpace, Facebook or a personal webhost. Also, autobiographies are strongly discouraged. Acroterion (talk) 21:34, 9 May 2009 (UTC)

Hi, I noticed that you deleted this per A7. While the article didn't make any claims of importance or significance, I assume you agree that the last section also clearly makes it an attack page (or negative unsourced blp). Regards, decltype (talk) 01:45, 11 May 2009 (UTC)

Either way, it's deleted, although perhaps I'm jaded - it's mild as attack articles go. I don't worry too much about fine details of deletion categories for obviously doomed articles. Acroterion (talk) 01:57, 11 May 2009 (UTC)

Freedom of Speech and Adverts

Chief,

I do not promote anything. What i am doing is offering players a chance to play the game. I have had hundreds of emails from members of my BBS thanking me that i posted the link here. Even for nostalgia sake, i dont care, i dont run a pay BBS i dont care who logs in, but i want people to experience the game. I dont see that as a terms of service violation from your website. I have forwarded this to my attorney who happens to be a top attorney in new york city and will evaluate your website and practices and if he finds malice i will go ahead and sue for freedom of speech.

Have a nice day. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Tonicfan (talk • contribs) 08:36, 14 May 2009 (UTC)

On another note: to advertise or to promote means you're selling a product. I am not selling anything. Tonicfan (talk) 08:42, 14 May 2009 (UTC) Tonicfan (talk) 08:46, 14 May 2009 (UTC)

Nevertheless, it's an inappropriate external link, and you're spamming it. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a forum for free speech, and it has editorial standards. Also, you need not sell a product to be advertising or promoting. Please stop adding the link. Acroterion (talk) 11:31, 14 May 2009 (UTC)
And by the way, you're blocked for threats of legal action per the note on your talk page. No doubt your attorney will advise you that the First Amendment applies to the government, not private websites which do not wish to host free advertising for you. Acroterion (talk) 16:20, 14 May 2009 (UTC)

Please help, trying to meet correct criteria/ standards for my article

Regarding deletion of Animetubez.com

Following protocol, I promptly added a "wait" stop to postpone marked speedily deletion within 5 minutes of creating the article. I then added History, References, Sources, notable relevance and External links.

What else are you looking for exactly? I researched all that I could before making my first article and I wanted to make it about a website that I have been frequenting over the years and have really enjoyed. The site is huge and consists of two duplicate sites which are merging together (www.vidberry.com)(www.animecrusade.com) as redirects to a new domain name (www.animetubez.com). I figured I would try to be the first person to post an article about it.

If there is more protocol or red tape that needs to be worked out before such an article can be displayed I would be more than willing to work on making it meet your standards providing you let me know what else you require. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Purpleisugly (talkcontribs) 00:22, 16 May 2009 (UTC)

Purpleisugly (talk) 00:43, 16 May 2009 (UTC)

We're looking for evidence of notability for the website, as evidenced in non-trivial coverage by multiple, independent third-party media outlets with a reputation for fact-checking. The notability criteria for websites are discussed at WP:WEB. See also WP:V and WP:RS. The article made no particular case for notability, and many of the references went back to the site, which doesn't establish independent notability (and Wikipedia itself is not a reference). Were either of the two websites notable before the merge?Acroterion (talk) 14:29, 16 May 2009 (UTC)

User names and history can't be "erased." They are permanent. You were indefinitely blocked, and you may not edit, with a username or an IP. You may request an unblock on your named account, but in doing so you must acknowledge the behavior that led to the block and undertake to edit productively. That means that you must stop edit-warring, as you have continued to do by IP and alternate accounts. Acroterion (talk) 14:18, 7 June 2009 (UTC)
The last post on your XMORPHEUSX account was not a useful request for an unblock - it showed no indication that you were willing to change, or that you understood the behavior that led to your block. I find it encouraging that the message above was written in standard Englsih - that's one thing we were asking for. As for the other account, edit-warring and editing while blocked will result in a block. regardless of the validity or motivation of the edits. I missed the discussion on PaPiRiCoSuAvE, but I suggest that you post to XMORPHEUSX, mostly because the name can be typed reliably, and ask for an unblock. Acroterion (talk) 15:09, 7 June 2009 (UTC)

Maine

Hey, sorry for leaving my opinion but is that not what the discussion page is for? I suppose I should mention everybody elses opinions on the dicussion page. When it comes to the cites for the Battle of Brazos, go ahead and help. I am still new at wiki so I have not figured out how to use wiki exactly correctly. Thanks for the message and offer of help.

PS I hate hearing the of the so called conspiracy of the Maine. I am not entirely convinced the Spanish sank our tub but the idea that Capatain Sigsbee sank his own ship to start a war is rediculous. Especially since Sigsbee lost his credibility as a good sailor and was never again put in command of a battleship. Why sabotage your career? —Preceding unsigned comment added by TJ13090 (talkcontribs) 21:37, 16 May 2009 (UTC)

The talk page is supposed to be strictly for the improvement of the related article, not for general commentary on the subject. That's not to say that people strictly observe it, but we try to keep it under control. I deal with a lot on 9/11-related issues, so my patience with those who see a conspiracy around every corner is a bit limited, for my own part.
Formatting references is one of the hardest and most arcane aspects of Wikipedia, and I wish I was better at it. In-line refs are best, once you've got the reflist tag. There are scripts that can help. Unless you used every one of those refs, you might want to prune them down a bit. Take a look at an article I made yesterday - National Harbor of Refuge and Delaware Breakwater Harbor Historic District - you'll see how I used named references with the full cite the first time and the subsequent cites just use the name with a / at the end.
Also, please sign your comments with four tildes ~~~~ Acroterion (talk) 21:43, 16 May 2009 (UTC)
By the way, I should tell you that you did very well for your first try. I'd suggest that you create a sandbox to develop articles before transferring them to article space, to save you from over-zealous newpage patrollers: like User:TJ13090/sandbox. Take a look at some of your earlier articles - others have formatted them.Acroterion (talk) 21:48, 16 May 2009 (UTC)

Would you be interested in joining this project? We need more editors who share a burden for rescuing promising editors who have gotten into serious trouble because of behavioral issues. IF (a fundamental condition!) they are interested in reforming and adapting to our standards of conduct, and are also willing to abide by our policies and guidelines, rather than constantly subverting them, we can offer to help them return to Wikipedia as constructive editors. Right now many if not most users who have been banned are still active here, but they are here as socks or anonymous IPs who may or may not be constructive. We should offer them a proper way to return. If you think this is a good idea, please join us. I Seek To Help & Repair! (talk) 05:09, 18 May 2009 (UTC)

Regarding yourdeletion of article on Rhian

Rhian is a village in Sutherland, Highlands, Scotland UK. According to the notations, you deleted an article about Rhian the person which would be understandably, but that also blocked creation of an article on the township.

18:28, 16 January 2009 Acroterion (talk | contribs) deleted "Rhian" ‎ (A7: Article about a real person, which does not indicate the importance or significance of the subject)

Among other topics, Rhian was the home of the grandson of Sir John Charles Rodgers, 1st Baronet of Groombridge so seems this geographical location would warrant at least a stub if not full article. We see promotion of free things all the time. Money does not make advertising, promotion does. You even include a download link: Wikipedia is not a place to promote your mod. Also, Wikipedia is not a game guide. A plain, factual account of the mod (assuming it meets Wikipedia's notability criteria and is, as you say, significant) is welcome, but please condense and avoid the use of the first and second persons, and all promotion. David McArdle

Hi there. I have been trying for quite a while to create a page of my friend whose name is David McArdle. I got his permission so how come I am not aloud to make the page? It doesn't do any harm does it? I'm mostly talking about his interests and school career. He was the first winner of a major award in secondary school and i think it is worth mentioning it to everyone. I am only new to wikipedia so if you could tell me if i'm doing anything wrong that would be great. Thanks.

In effect, yes. Unless you can provide several non-trivial references to the person in major publications of preferably national standing, it is unlikely that the article will survive one of the deletion processes. Acroterion (talk) 01:04, 28 May 2009 (UTC)

Hannah Montana cast pictures

Why were these three images deleted?

  1. "File:Miley Stewart.jpg"
  2. "File:Oliver Oken promotional.jpg"
  3. "File:Jackson Stewart.jpg"

You cited deletion rules 6 and 7 and none of these images violated either of those rules. They all had the proper tags for their fair-use and they all had rationale, unless of course someone else altered them from how I uploaded them.

Furthermore, rule 7 says imediate deletion applies to photographs with a logo tag, which was not the case here.

Help me out please? Thank you!

Pigby (talk) 02:57, 29 May 2009 (UTC)

They were edited by Ceauntay59 (talk · contribs) who has been dumping copyrighted images onto the wiki; I mistook them for more of his copyvios. I apologize for the misundertanding. Restoring now. Acroterion (talk) 03:03, 29 May 2009 (UTC)
I am, however, doubtful that the images meet fair-use standards. Generally, high-quality professional photographs are not suitable for fair use, and if a free substitute exists (however crappy), they should not be used at all. I believe you're leaning too heavily on the "charcter depiction" justification and using images that are larger than necessary. Acroterion (talk) 03:10, 29 May 2009 (UTC)
I've been curious about that. Is it necessary that fair-use images only be lower resolution from the originals, even if the originals were stunning quality? A fine image could be slightly lower resolution from the original and still look pretty great and technically be considered "low resolution."
With these images I have seen higher quality copies, so I am certain they meet the standards if that is the criteria. But is it also necessary for them to be "low quality" as well as low resolution? (However that should be defined.)
For myself, I used other images as guidelines. For example, the fair-use image used on the Liz Lemon article is the same size and quality and has been used for over two years. So I had thought these images were pretty safe.
Pigby (talk) 03:29, 29 May 2009 (UTC)
The thing I notice about the Liz Lemon image is that the source is no bigger than the image as used; i.e., no bigger than it absolutely has to be to be used in the article. Your images seem to be larger than the end use on the page. I don't think "low quality" should be a goal, just low resolution. We're not doing Miley Cyrus or Tina Fey a favor by using a bad picture of them because it's crummy. Acroterion (talk) 03:34, 29 May 2009 (UTC)
Looking further, they're the same size as used; I think they're too big on the page, but that's a layout objection. Acroterion (talk) 03:39, 29 May 2009 (UTC)
Oh, I see. I thought you meant that they should be cropped or something. Back when I uploaded them I displayed them full size on the articles on purpose, thinking I was being nice by saving people a click. If you think it's better to make them smaller that's fine.
Other than that, everything is all set?
Pigby (talk) 03:52, 29 May 2009 (UTC)
For my part, yes. I've avoided fair use, as you can tell, and this only comes up because the user I was dealing with made no effort at all to comply with fair use. Others' mileage may vary, so don't consider it a seal of approval, I just believe you've made a good-faith effort to comply. Acroterion (talk) 03:55, 29 May 2009 (UTC)
Thank you! I'm glad this conversation was not unpleasant... as I thought it would be. lol!

Hi Acroterion. I was puzzled by the AfD closure. Why a redirect to the MiG 1.44, which was a real aircraft? If a redirect is appropriate, it would seem better to me to redirect it to the game it initially appeared in. Anyone looking for the MiG-42 in the MiG 1.44 article isn't going to find anything on it there, since it has nothing to do with the real world. Askari Mark (Talk) 19:12, 31 May 2009 (UTC)

"Public Domain" on National Register of Historic Places link

Thanks again for giving me that cool NRHP link for the Woolworth article. On that page before the pictures it says the following: "Publisher: National Park Service, Published: 01/02/1987, Access: Public access, Restrictions: Public domain". (I can't give you a link to that page but you can see it if you go to the search page and choose "Woolworth" in Delaware.) I'm not that familiar with all the copyright issues in Wikipedia, but that means I can copy those pictures into WikiCommons and stick them into the various NRHP articles I'm working on, correct?RevelationDirect (talk) 12:18, 31 May 2009 (UTC)

Actually NO, i think not. Coming in from elsewhere, I don't know exactly what link you're referring to, but I believe it is an incorrect database display of that message in the NPS Focus system. It is incorrect and I do not believe that the National Park System's error in their database puts the photos into the public domain. The Focus system holds many photos that the NPS does not have copyright for, so its incorrect label cannot change the copyright status of the photos. doncram (talk) 11:19, 2 June 2009 (UTC)

NPS photos

Hi, it's nice to see you've been developing Wyoming NRHP articles. However, I'm not clear on whether the pic used at U.S. Post Office (Douglas, Wyoming) which you uploaded from the NPS Focus system, and then perhaps other pics, is actually public domain and available for us to use. I see that you meticulously credited very specifically to a H. M. Kilva, and that is properly represented, but is it public domain? I have kept some notes at Wikipedia:WikiProject National Register of Historic Places#some but not all National Park Service photos are public domain. It would perhaps be public domain if it were not credited to any specific photographer or organization that could hold copyright. It could also be public domain if H.M. Kilva was then a Federal employee. But there are many photos in the NPS Focus system that are not PD, which the NPS is clear enough about in its general copyright statement, explaining that it uses photos itself with permission. For this one, i wonder if you need to get an OTRS release from the NPS, perhaps specifically from the NPS Western Region HQ, which could possibly speak for Kilva. Do you see what I mean, from the copyright statements linked? Regards, doncram (talk) 11:15, 2 June 2009 (UTC)

I've asked the Park Service exactly that question. - whether it's a default public domain notice in their database, or whether upon assimilating it into the database they consider it PD (per the second part of their disclaimer). I'll let you know what develops, and have no problem with deleting the images if needed. In effect, I'm asking for an OTRS release from them. Acroterion (talk) 11:51, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
Just checked mail - here's the response - it appears to have been their intention to release them, but they don't have releases:
We had originally thought this default would be appropriate for photographs but have since found out it is apparently the responsibility of the user to verify whether or not a photograph is in the public domain before using it. We have never requested releases. This makes it quite difficult on your end to use these images.
Ergo, they'll have to be deleted. Oh well. Acroterion (talk) 11:54, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
Technically, we could do a fair use rationale and host them here on WP, but I've never resorted to that and don't intend to start now. Acroterion (talk) 12:02, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for getting back to me so quickly, and with solid info. And I am sorry that you've lost some time and work due to this issue, and that the photos will have to be deleted. The "public domain" label that appears for all photos within NPS Focus system is particularly unhelpful, isn't it? I heard also that they were going to change that, but they haven't. Thanks, doncram (talk) 12:29, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
If nothing else, I had a good time working with B/W image cleanup in Photoshop, so I don't count the time wasted, and I will get around to writing fuller descriptions of the buildings now that I've had a good look at them. I had much the same concern as you, and shouldn't have posted them until I had The Word. As I said, I think I'll try a direct approach: Richard Collier is or was a Wyoming state park employee, and might be willing to release if asked nicely. Acroterion (talk) 12:36, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
I'm sure fair use rationale plays a useful role in other media. As a practical matter, claiming fair use on Wikipedia just invites endless discussion and takes away time from actually improving articles.RevelationDirect (talk) 02:03, 3 June 2009 (UTC)
Well said. In the case of buildings, they're right there waiting to have their pictures taken, so it's a matter of logistics, not unavailability. Acroterion (talk) 02:07, 3 June 2009 (UTC)
Maybe I'll focus more on local Wilmington NRHP listings (over an abandoned department store in Texas) so I can take more of my own pictures. Thanks again for your help.RevelationDirect (talk) 02:38, 3 June 2009 (UTC)

Attack pages

Hi... this is just a casual note, a talking point rather than a criticism. I noticed you deleted as an attack page an article I'd tagged as an A7. The page consisted solely of the claim that its subject was the gay lover of someone else. I just wanted to make the point that if we delete articles like this as attacks we seem to be agreeing that it's necessarily a horrible slur to be described as gay, which I don't think is our intention. I absolutely agree that the article creator's intention was to attack the subject, but it sort of makes me uncomfortable when we seem to agree that ugh, gay, what a horrid thing to say about somebody. Just some food for thought. Gonzonoir (talk) 13:54, 5 June 2009 (UTC)

I tag them by the author's apparent intention. I agree with your sentiment in principle, but most of the gay and lesbian editors I've corresponded with tend to take the position that it's one thing to use various terms within the LGBT community (or to self-describe) and quite another for someone else to do so. In this case, it's probably a 14 year old male in the throes of the usual identity insecurity. I'm not consistent, I'll admit, but as it was intended as an attack, I tagged it as such. Acroterion (talk) 14:21, 5 June 2009 (UTC)
That seems fair - thanks for the response. All the best. Gonzonoir (talk) 15:07, 5 June 2009 (UTC)

Cuss words

I am protesting your deletion of the list of cuss words article and the category:cuss words as unformal deletions. They should have been deleted through at least a formal process, rather than just deleting it right away. If whatever i said is "not the encyclopedia's concern", then why delete it unformally?. It may be almost a month late to act, but i finally decided to. Why were they deleted the way that they were instead of having a formal discussion? Why? Isn't the world cruel enough? I'm not saying that cuss words are bad nor that i'm for censoring, which i'm not, but still, why have them deleted? Please answer back on my talk page. Ryanbstevens (talk) 23:33, 7 June 2009 (UTC)

It was deleted because it duplicated pre-existing content on profanity, and appeared to be a random, contextlesss list of American profanity. As such, it was speedily deletable. I will not bar the recreation of the topic, but you should be prepared to justify the content fork. Acroterion (talk) 23:37, 7 June 2009 (UTC)

Deletion Review

I was advised to take something up to the deletion review in the past when i re-created a category after it was actually deleted through a formal process. Ryanbstevens (talk) 03:58, 8 June 2009 (UTC)

For speedy deletion, it's normally taken to DRV only if the discussion with the deleting admin has been unfruitful. Since I told you I wouldn't object (via a speedy deletion) to a re-creation, and that any initial discussion was best handled at AfD, that condition hasn't been met. I suggest you re-create the article (this time with some context concerning why this particular list is useful and distinct from "profanity") and we can see where it leads. Acroterion (talk) 11:30, 8 June 2009 (UTC)
I would advise you that neither AfD nor DRV are likely to achieve the result you desire, apart from having a "process." Can you explain why this content fork is needed? The term "cuss word" is an Americanism, but since WWII globalized American terms, I can't think of any uniquely American cussing (and none of the items you listed are in any way unique to the US). Acroterion (talk) 11:35, 8 June 2009 (UTC)

I believe this article is nothing more then a self praise article. Cewen Nan, is a one sentence article saying the above is a professor for some university. That's it, no sources or anything like that, I have nominated ity under 2 criteria of deletion and was grejected the frist time because subject claims to be notable. Can you look and maybe write what you think on the talk page or talk with reviewing admin as they do not wish to address teh issue with me. Any help for a consensus for or against my opinion would help solve this. Hell in a Bucket (talk) 14:58, 8 June 2009 (UTC)

Regarding the Aedas page

Hello there

I have made changes to the Aedas page in line with the comments made by you the other day. I have just made the changes in my sandbox for now but will upload the page when I am happy with it. I was wondering if you would be kind enough to have a look and let me know if I have it back on track. I have further edited the two new sections that appeared and obtained some new images with permission to add to the page. I would welcome any advice you have to give regarding the style and content.
with regards.

Deevincentday (talk) 16:58, 9 June 2009 (UTC)

I have now finished my edits and have transferred the revised page from my sandbox. Please feel free to review and comment/edit as you feel appropriate. I noted your comment about white space but this is an accessibility issue for me as I have very poor vision for reading so therefore need sections to be clearly defined.
with regards.

I have responded to your excellent feedback on my talk page.

This article is now at AfD. Given our conversation yesterday, it occurred to me that you might care to express an opinion. I hasten to add that, far from this being meant in the spirit of canvassing, I want to urge you to express your opinion regardless of what it happens to be. If your opinion is opposite to mine, I will still welcome its addition to the dialogue. I know you're working in good faith and have a knowledge of the relevant policies, and may have something useful to add regardless of how this turns out. Indeed, feel free to express your opinion or not, as the spirit moves you. I only thought that since you were interested yesterday, you might be interested today. If I've erred, I apologize in advance and hope that you'll ascribe any error to me rather than to the article. Accounting4Taste:talk 17:30, 9 June 2009 (UTC)

If you can't see that he was being satirical then you are, as a matter of fact, completely clueless... the 'snack crackers called Goldfish' are obviously not modeled after the lowercase letter alpha. His saying so was mocking my suggestion of the addition of a section on the nabla symbol which was the original personal attack. BethelRunner (talk) 20:16, 9 June 2009 (UTC)
Drop it. Acroterion (talk) 20:19, 9 June 2009 (UTC)
Why should I drop it and not you? His comment was as much a personal attack as mine.BethelRunner (talk) 20:23, 9 June 2009 (UTC)
You should drop it and read this as the reason. WP:TROLL Hell in a Bucket (talk) 20:34, 9 June 2009 (UTC)

Pelf's Slang

You're the biggest jerk in the world. I spent forever on that article. It's not made up. It's not "vandalism". Just because you've never heard of it doesn't mean it's not real. So, what's the point of being a carrot top and deleting people's articles? That's just stupid. —Preceding unsigned comment added by ErikheartsBrady (talkcontribs) 21:25, 9 June 2009 (UTC)

It's unsourced and defamatory. Acroterion (talk) 22:18, 9 June 2009 (UTC)

Thanks.

Thanks for fixing my userpage!--gordonrox24 (talk) 22:09, 9 June 2009 (UTC)

Yeah it took me a mintue to get it fixed. There may be one or two moreout there but if I catch them i will add the steps. Still learning lots to remember lo. Cheers, happy troll hunting Hell in a Bucket (talk) 22:26, 9 June 2009 (UTC)

Wikipedia formatting language?

Hey Acroterion, I thought I would spiff up my user page so I copied some of the formatting from your user page on to mine, (without copying over your material, so don't worry). As I looked at it, though, I thought I would like to tweak it a bit. My question is this - what language does wikipedia use for formatting and is there a SIMPLE book for learning some of it? I'm not talking about article issues, such as references and citations, I'm talking about making the user page look really nice. I have Wikipedia - The Missing Manual, but don't think there is a section on this topic in there. Thoughts? pmcyclist (talk) 18:21, 10 June 2009 (UTC)

You've asked the wrong person, and maybe chosen the wrong page. My page displays all sorts of ways depending on the screen size and shape, and is effectively unplanned and accidental. You're, of course, free to use it, but the formatting's an embarrassment to Wikipedia, principally because I am not competent in that area. I'm not sure who to recommend that would be able to help - a lot of the people with nice pages borrowed them from others. You're free to tweak my userpage if you want; it's been on the list of things to do, like cleaning out the attic and rotating tires. Acroterion (talk) 18:41, 10 June 2009 (UTC)
I hear you... you should see OUR attic! Well, compared to the white field with three sandbox links that constituted my page, yours was the Mona Lisa!!! I'll poke around some and see what I can find out. Either that or I'll recruit my 16 year old daughter whose nickname is Tech Support! Best, pmcyclist (talk) 21:10, 10 June 2009 (UTC)

The Men's View page

hey you just deleted the men's view page that some fans of our show spent a lot of hard work creating. Thats not right. We are #19 on itunes we don't need to advertise on Wikipedia. Why don't you go ahead and delete Adam Carollas wikipedia page he is #1 podcast he must be advertising too. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.196.181.26 (talk) 04:59, 13 June 2009 (UTC)

Please don't advertise on Wikipedia. Your position on iTunes is irrelevant; coverage in third-party media is, and you gave no indication that the podcast had received any. Adam Carolla is independently notable. Acroterion (talk) 13:04, 13 June 2009 (UTC)
Also, it's bad form to vandalize in a fit of pique, as you did at Charles Center. Acroterion (talk) 13:05, 13 June 2009 (UTC)

The page of mine's should not be deleted.

Hi there, administrator

The page i have created should not be deleted because the texts i have written is about a person but it is not written in hundred percent full information.

Plus I have full permission to write an article about my best friend and other's, I have completely took my time and i didnt want to waste it, but you have deleted for no reason.

Please Acroterion, I have used alot of my time's to make this article in my frist time in my life and i worked really hard on it,

I have full hundred percent to write an article, and i have also read the Guideline's privacy policy and terms of use and also the copyrigh's, i understand them and i understand the "Your first Article".

I would like my article to be restored on this amazing website, Thanks. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Midsouth John (talkcontribs) 01:05, 14 June 2009 (UTC)

Please review Wikipedia's requirements for the notability of individuals; the article was deleted because it doesn't comply with notability requirements (which are also mentioned in WP:YFA. We appreciate your enthusiasm and encourage you to contribute, but an article on you and your best friend isn't really appropriate. Biographies are about people who have been covered in the newspaper or historical works. Is there a subject you're interested in where you could help us improve existing content? Acroterion (talk) 01:12, 14 June 2009 (UTC)

The article has been protected for 2 months already. Why not to unprotect it and allow anonymous users to contribute to the article? SkyBonTalk\Contributions 11:00, 14 June 2009 (UTC)

CSY - boat page

When you have time please look at the [5] page and let me know if it is more scholarly.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Also, how do I get this out of the sandbox? I have several other owners who would like to contribute information to the site.

Thanks, Peter CSYguy (talk) 18:21, 15 June 2009 (UTC)

Thank you for the Hyart Theater article

Hello! I was doing New Page Patrol and I saw your new article on the Hyart Theater. I was very happy to see that funky old theater is still standing -- so many older theaters from that era got smacked with the wrecking ball. Thanks for bringing that article and that great photo to Wikipedia. Pastor Theo (talk) 13:14, 16 June 2009 (UTC)

Thank you! We were driving across northern Wyoming a couple of years ago and were stopped cold by this big turquoise thing on an otherwise deserted Main Street. I'd really like to see the interior, or the outside with the lights turned on, but I settled for taking lots of pictures of it as it was. Supposedly the Villa Theater's still standing in Salt Lake City; I'm going to do a little research and see what turns up. Acroterion (talk) 13:21, 16 June 2009 (UTC)

Mamta dhody

Can I ask what the "OTRS resolution" you discussed with Mamta dhody (talk · contribs) that you refer to in your unblock message actually was? He's back to his usual tricks- edit warring, uploading copyvios, ranting about Islam/US presidents/Jews/Jesus (or whatever strikes his fancy) and being generally insulting- all that having made only around thirty edits since the unblock. I cannot see what possible positive this user is having on the project. J Milburn (talk) 16:20, 18 June 2009 (UTC)

I was taking Georgewilliamherbert's OTRS discussion as the basis for the unblock. Since I don't have OTRS access, I don't know what was discussed or what terms might exist, but they're certainly contingent on good behavior in general; GWH's comments mainly dealt with the article and the veracity of the edits, not editor behavior. As I said when I unblocked, he has to behave, so I'll have a look at it. Thanks for letting me know. Acroterion (talk) 16:24, 18 June 2009 (UTC)
Warned, more or less duplicating your own warning. Acroterion (talk) 16:37, 18 June 2009 (UTC)

The Russell Agency

I'm just not really sure why you deleted it? I'm really trying to make a page for this company and get the information out there. Can you just tell me what I'm doing wrong? —Preceding unsigned comment added by BonnieLumley (talkcontribs) 20:24, 18 June 2009 (UTC)

The company does not meet Wikipedia's guidelines for the notability of corporations. Wikipedia requires that articles on companies show evidence that the company is eligible for inclusion by virtue of having received multiple, non-trivial mentions in independent media known for fact-checking, and that this coverage should preferably indicate notability of more than purely local standing. This keeps Wikipedia from being flooded by companies and organizations that simply want to appear on a highly-trafficked website that tends to appear at the top of Google search lists. Since Wikipedia is not a business directory or a free webhost, this allows Wikipedia to focus on its core purpose, writing an encyclopedia, which is a task requiring some discrimination in content. I do not see the end result changing - you aren't doing anything wrong, the company, like many, just doesn't meet the inclusion criteria. A simple question to ask one's self: would you expect to see an article on this organization in an encyclopedia, even a very broadly-based one? Acroterion (talk) 20:41, 18 June 2009 (UTC)

I have not included a single copy -material in my edits-there are my own contributions from original source!

Sorry to have offended one person at the cost of saving so many lives.

I have nothing against any religion in particular and it is you who are saying these things.Whatever I have said is from the religious books of the culprits themselves and the wrong knowledge that they have put to use in these modern times for criminal activities. As far as I know the general tone of Wikipedia is aginst heinous crime. If someone uses their religion to perpetrate crime on a mass scale ,it has to be brought to the notice of the general mileau and are termed as crimes against humanity and human rights violations. My edits to Subhash Chandra Bose are genuine and enriching and you have only served to deprive the readers of genuine knowledge.Sorry to have offended one person at the cost of saving so many lives.Mamta dhody (talk) 09:11, 19 June 2009 (UTC)

One question...

Why'd you remove the article for the MMORPG Wizard 101?
~~LDEJRuff~~ (see what I've contributed) 20:25, 20 June 2009 (EDT)

Because its entire content was, and I quote: "c". That was more than a year ago. Now there's a proper Wizard101 article. Acroterion (talk) 00:54, 21 June 2009 (UTC)

Your attention...

...would be appreciated here. User:Future Perfect at Sunrise (and today User:Taivo) are deleting my comments giving vague and insulting excuses as an alibi ([6], [7], [8]). Spis Ikke Gul Snø (talk) 15:20, 23 June 2009 (UTC)

I think that whole page is a bad idea. Otherwise, what A Man in Black said - I have no interest in draining that particular swamp. You do not appear to have anything to contribute to the discussion otherwise, and you clearly have other wiki experience. I'd suggest you use the account that provided that experience and make substantive contributions. Acroterion (talk) 17:09, 23 June 2009 (UTC)
You don't get the chance to contribute when what you write is getting deleted. That's why I asked for your help.
I can go around deleting what the above two users write too, you know. Spis Ikke Gul Snø (talk) 17:15, 23 June 2009 (UTC)
As I said, I see no point to the page. Either contribute substantively, or don't. I see nothing worth arguing over, especially when it's in a subject area that's rife with the most pointless arguments ever made. Acroterion (talk) 17:20, 23 June 2009 (UTC)
So is it OK deleting the comments of users I perceive to be sockpuppets of a shadowy, unnamable user? Spis Ikke Gul Snø (talk)
Do you expect me to give you permission to edit disruptively? You appear to be trying to make a point, and I'm uninterested in assisting you in doing so. Acroterion (talk) 17:30, 23 June 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, that's exactly what I'm expecting, unless there's one law for the rich and another for the poor. Spis Ikke Gul Snø (talk) 17:43, 23 June 2009 (UTC)

From (none) to Autoreviewers

Thanks for this. I will try to live up to your faith in me. Emargie (talk) 17:41, 24 June 2009 (UTC)

You're welcome. I noticed you'd done a lot of new, referenced articles, the kind we like to see. Have fun! Acroterion (talk) 17:56, 24 June 2009 (UTC)

What are Autoreviewers? --Una Smith (talk) 14:37, 1 July 2009 (UTC)

Found the answer: Wikipedia:Autoreviewer. Thanks, this will be helpful. When I have just begun a new article, sometimes a zealous new page patroller has come by and wasted their time and mine too by slapping tags on it. --Una Smith (talk)

WP Mills

Thanks for your message, I'll leave the Wall Street mill article tagged for now. It can always be reassessed at a later date. Mjroots (talk) 19:08, 25 June 2009 (UTC)

If the projects remit extends to ore mills, then there's a lot of scope, provided they're not limited to water or wind power. Interesting project! Acroterion (talk) 19:11, 25 June 2009 (UTC)

Deleting Pages

My partner and I have been living apart for almost 6 months now. we see each other one a month is we're lucky. As a really cute gesture and to try really hard keeping the spark alive, my partner wrote a wiki page about me. AND U DELETED BEFORE I EVEN GOT TO SEE IT. I don't suppose however you would know what that is like. Someone that sits there and sifts through people pages.....can't exactly be the brightest soul.

As a female I need a little bit of romanticism to survive a long distance relationship. Women out there would be frothing to get there hands on a boy that did this for them and I'm a lucky one and you ruin his one shot at really trying.

To delete the website that fast........well actually I don't need to say anymore do I.

A pity such sad individuals are out there. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 219.90.183.25 (talk) 12:32, 29 June 2009 (UTC)

In general, encyclopedias aren't a very good way to maintain a relationship. Wikipedia, romantic? Acroterion (talk) 12:37, 29 June 2009 (UTC)

hahahaah and you consider wikipedia an actual encyclopedia. In Australia we get marks removed from our assignments at uni if we use wikipedia in any shape or form......thats how much creditability it gets. Oh and you work for it......No surprise there

It's even worse as a place to post love notes. Acroterion (talk) 12:40, 29 June 2009 (UTC)
I posted a warning regarding the comment above, because I felt calling a Wikipedian "not bright" was an ad hominem attack in violation of WP:NPA --Mysidia (talk) 12:52, 29 June 2009 (UTC)
I generally ignore that sort of thing, as it's mild and pretty much goes with the administrative territory. My question is, why would a love note posted in such a disreputable publication be so "romantic"? One would think that Uncyclopedia would do, or even Encyclopedia Dramatica, but apparently only WP is sufficiently prominent. Thanks for warning the lovelorn. Acroterion (talk) 13:02, 29 June 2009 (UTC)
I think the general public doesn't know much about Uncyclopedia or Dramatica, they're specialized sites known about primarily by their members and active users of Wikis. Wikipedia on the other hand, has been commonly mentioned in popular media, and is much more well known by the public. A note on Wikipedia would probably be seen by a lot more eyeballs. --Mysidia (talk) 13:07, 29 June 2009 (UTC)
Absolutely. It's more of a rhetorical question, I suppose; it's also the first time I've fielded such a complaint from a girl; usually it's some lovestruck boy who complains about the deletion of their article concerning the most beautiful girl in the world. By the way, congratulations on your longevity around here, not many people are left from the pioneering days when you could write an article on blue. Acroterion (talk) 13:11, 29 June 2009 (UTC)
