Patent nonsense? Discuss. —Preceding unsigned comment added by N3ptun0x (talkcontribs) 07:40, 1 October 2008 (UTC)

Wikipedia is not for something you made up one day. Acroterion (talk) 11:30, 1 October 2008 (UTC)

Interesting as its played by many, many people...most of whom I do not know personally. In any event, I bow to your logic. Ciao. N3ptun0x (talk) 13:55, 1 October 2008 (UTC)

For a game made up in the last four weeks, it's spreading like wildfire. I therefore await its inevitable coverage in third-party sources. Acroterion (talk) 14:07, 1 October 2008 (UTC)

Much obliged to you. N3ptun0x (talk) 14:11, 1 October 2008 (UTC)

On zzuzz talk page aggression

Sorry, bloke, this ain't gonna happen again. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 189.68.83.254 (talk) 19:23, 1 October 2008 (UTC)

Really? How do you explain this [1] and this [2]? Acroterion (talk) 19:35, 1 October 2008 (UTC)

Pardon

Pardon, mais je ne vais pas faire cette vandalism une autre fois.

How come do you know every single movement of mine, pal?

Yet again, I am disappointed by your insincere promises. Therefore, you're blocked. And I have magical powers, that's how. Acroterion (talk) 19:50, 1 October 2008 (UTC)

Why was the Melissa Roll atricle deleted?

What was blatent advertising about it? Thanks. —Preceding unsigned comment added by MeHhappy44 (talkcontribs) 21:58, 1 October 2008 (UTC)

You are using Wikipedia to promote a non-notable, unsourced Internet meme. Acroterion (talk) 22:00, 1 October 2008 (UTC)

Why was my page deleted.

I am pissed that my page was deleted. It was not for promotional use. It was on http://www.applefox.biz.vi. It was only information. It did not say oh look at this site go here. Further more what the hell is this. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CNET_Networks . It is made the same way as my site it has just been added on to more. In NO way was my site for promotional use. It was just explaining what the site was all about. And why the hell would I advertise on this overrated incorrect half the time piece of junk site. If I wanted to advertise then don't you think I could do It by putting goggles code on my site. I am so glad you feel all high and mighty deleting non developed sites. Glad you could get some good jollies off of mine. Thanks for nothing. I will tell everyone On the site to never use this crappy ass site ever again. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Applefox (talkcontribs) 00:04, 2 October 2008 (UTC)

I wouldn't use CNET Networks as an example: it's shudder a godawful article. You might want to read our requirements for web notability at WP:WEB. Your article did not meet the requirements set forth there. I also saw your article as promotional, although on further consideration it met deletion criteria for web content more clearly than as promotion. Keep in mind that Wikipedia documents notability that already exists and has been noted in independent media, not potential notability. I sympathize with your frustration, but notability is a requirement for inclusion. Acroterion (talk) 00:50, 2 October 2008 (UTC)

Nice article on Cain House

Hello! I was doing New Page Patrol and I spotted your Cain House article. I just joined up WikiProject Freemasonry, so the subject was of personal interest. But even if I was not a member of that WikiProject, I would still have to say it is a fine addition to the project. Thanks for bringing that online! Ecoleetage (talk) 12:34, 2 October 2008 (UTC)

Thanks! I've been working on a lot of West Virginia NRHP articles, since West Virginia has the nominations online and there is abundant documentation. I must confess, I chose a county with only two properties on purpose so I could say I finished a county today, though. Low expectations are a virtue. Thanks for the compliment! Acroterion (talk) 12:37, 2 October 2008 (UTC)
By the way, feel free to add the appropriate masonic lodge-related category: there's got to be a suitable one. Acroterion (talk) 12:40, 2 October 2008 (UTC)
Done deal. Thanks again! Ecoleetage (talk) 12:57, 2 October 2008 (UTC)

Hi

Hi, please see my contribs in this ip before judging me a vandal. I didn't mean to vandalise Jeffpw's page nor did I harras the user who undid my edits on that page. Hope u dont mind. Thanks. 60.50.66.209 (talk) 14:34, 2 October 2008 (UTC)
I undid my unblock message too. Sorry i got mixed up with that. 60.50.66.209 (talk) 14:36, 2 October 2008 (UTC)
You weren't blocked for editing Jeffpw's page: you have been blocked for many other reasons, and you are expected to leave other editors alone and to stop abusing IP's to troll. Acroterion (talk) 14:38, 2 October 2008 (UTC)
Ok sorry. Now I'm gonna do some constructive editing so long you don't block me. Im not gonna waste my time on Fisherqueen's page. 60.50.79.177 (talk) 14:59, 2 October 2008 (UTC)
And since you are admin please see List of states with nuclear weapons please update the article on the new Indo-US nuclear deal. And there's contradictory information pertaining estimated number of warheads between the sections for various countries and the table. The most bizzare contradictions are for China and India. Please look into it. I can't edit it or else I'd have60.50.79.177 (talk) 15:00, 2 October 2008 (UTC)
I don't have the sources to do this, however, you are welcome to do so appropriately from a regular user account (since the page is semi-protected) once your various blocks expire, and if you can resist the temptation to edit other people's userpages, impersonate other users or to taunt them. Sign up in about 30 hours, leave me a note telling me who you are, and we'll see what can be done. Acroterion (talk) 15:20, 2 October 2008 (UTC)
I made 2 accounts already but I still cant edit the page (Killure and MeAryan). No need sources. Just compare NWEs from the table and article for China and India. I only taunted Fisherqueen because she never told me WHY was my "Nazi" template wrong and just kept blocking me. Perhaps you can gimme an answer. I clearly wrote "this user IS NOT nazi or KKK in line with what he already had. My name is also Aryan (Im not joking) can I have that template on my page? MeAryan (talk) 17:19, 2 October 2008 (UTC)
Sigh - OK. One account at a time. No edits for another day - you're blocked: please respect our efforts in that regard. No taunting, never. No Nazi allusions against people whose name is simply Aryan, and not on your page either. You can't edit the article because you're not autoconfirmed - it takes four days and ten edits. Acroterion (talk) 17:53, 2 October 2008 (UTC)
Sorry I made some edits before reading this page. I know I'm blocked on my other IPs but actually another bossy admin called Dagizza blocked me a whole week on another IP (I can't remember what it is). Please see ARYAN818's page history and you'll get it. Does it mean I cannot edit for a whole week just because of that unjustified block? Please, I'm not taunting or not respecting your efforts. You are a nice guy who is explaining to me but not Fisherqueen who blindly blocks me and justifies long blocks on me by others without a warning. I tried explaining to her that her blocks are no use because I just click 'reset connection' wait 5 seconds and I gotta new IP. And if I change my DNS code I can even go on other nets like 218, 117, 118 etc. But she won't listen and just blidnly block maybe to increase her edit count. Thats why Im taunting her and pissed off with her character. Moreover on another issue I asked to be unblocked from another guy who blocked me and she's giving reasoning on his behalf. So how do you expect me to react?
And friend, my name is Aryan and I just wanna write "this user IS NOT Nazi" because I checked up Aryan's page and found he's been blocked many times just because of his name.
sorry I thought I was logged in.Killure (talk) 19:10, 2 October 2008 (UTC)
Sorry now I know how to be an admin. But it seems too difficult for me. So long I can edit all types of pages I'm happy. By the way I read that a user cannot have over 1 account. So what can I do with Killure account? Can I merge both? Hope my userpage is acceptable to you. Cheers. MeAryan (talk) 14:43, 3 October 2008 (UTC)
You user page is perfectly fine. As for the other account, just don't use it and there will be no problem. Thanks for checking in. Acroterion (talk) 14:46, 3 October 2008 (UTC)
Actually, I clicked "Show all" : really, all you need to say is what you've said in the collapsed version: pictures of Nazi and Klan people and symbols are inflammatory. Acroterion (talk) 14:52, 3 October 2008 (UTC)
Why is it inflammatory? I took those images from other articles only I didn't upload it myself. If it can be on articles why not my userpage? And you know this person called "KnowledgeHegemonyPart2" gotta secret page where he is actually harbouring pro-Nazi and Pro-Islamic militancy images and its worse than mine. See User:KnowledgeHegemonyPart2/flag this is a secret page and he's hiding notorious stuff in there. Now I wanna see Dagizza and Fisherqueen block him as he is worse than me. At least I put it openly while he is hiding it away. And see this Russian guy his signature gotta nazi logo: Talk:Son of a bitch. This guy's userpage has a userbox with Swastika logo too User:RBlowes. These people are all worse than me so why you only pick on me and my page? MeAryan (talk) 16:33, 3 October 2008 (UTC)
I tried reasoning with a few of this user's accounts, but his persistent refusal to understand convinced me that he's nothing but a troll. Of course, I hadn't seen this conversation when I blocked both of his named accounts; feel free to unblock one of them if you think he's likely to be useful. If you haven't already done so, see his vandalism of User:ARYAN818, which seems to be his primary reason for editing. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 17:06, 3 October 2008 (UTC)
I already told Acroterion I will not bother you. Please see above. Can you find any vandalism from my accounts? So why do you block me? Acroterion said I can edit after one day and here I am. oes it mean if last time I "trolled" means I can never be on Wikipedia? 60.50.78.120 (talk) 17:10, 3 October 2008 (UTC)
And Acroterion, please note that this user removed somethings I posted on your talk page. She citedWikipedia:Revert,_block,_ignore but thats actually for articles and not talk pages. She should see Wikipedia:Talk_page_guidelines#Editing comments. 60.50.78.120 (talk) 17:17, 3 October 2008 (UTC)

<undent> I've blocked your latest IP because you seem to be uninterested in following my conditions: wait out your blocks (you were blocked for a week after the original block that we discussed above), quit playing with other people's userspace, and stop with the Nazi stuff. I did not give you permission to create multiple accounts while blocked, yet you did so. You have exhausted my patience, and, despite some useful edits, you are ignoring advice. FisherQueen has every right to revert, block and ignore: that advice applies everywhere, and I will be applying it as well. Acroterion (talk) 17:24, 3 October 2008 (UTC)

I'm really sorry; I'm only communicating with you and not making other edits. I will accept my 1 week block for "vandalism" or whatever but why indefinite block my account? Please give me a one week block to my account and I won't come here for one week. Deal? PS: I am not a vandal if I am I wont be discussing with you but vandalising pages. Hoping for favourable reply. And pls don't block this IP I will only use it to talk to u not for any other edits I promise. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 218.208.244.177 (talk) 17:32, 3 October 2008 (UTC)

I'll review and reconsider in a week. Until then, no editing, under any circumstances. You are permitted to communicate only via your MeAryan account: I have it watchlisted. No more IP's, ever. Acroterion (talk) 17:40, 3 October 2008 (UTC)
Keep in mind that you are indefinitely blocked until I say otherwise. Acroterion (talk) 18:06, 3 October 2008 (UTC)

Flight 77 - taxicab removal

The Taxicab incident is not trivial. Compared to some of the other first-had accounts, the taxicab incident is MORE important because there is/was physical and photographic evidence. And that photograph is already an entry in Wikipedia, so it should link back to this article. Furthermore, the additional information took, what, ten words? Those ten words make it much harder for conspiracy theorists to claim something other than Flight 77 hit the Pentagon. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 63.114.26.15 (talk) 17:02, 2 October 2008 (UTC)

You underestimate the tenacity of the theorists: there is one school of thought that claims that the conspiracy acquired an ex-Navy A-3 Skywarrior and painted it in American Airlines colors and crashed it into the Pentagon. (shakes head) I'd suggest you bring it up on the talk page. It seems to me to be trivial, but perhaps something can be crafted that puts it into context. As it was, I couldn't tell why light poles falling on a taxi had much to do with the main point of the article. Acroterion (talk) 17:10, 2 October 2008 (UTC)

Sorry for geting mad. for http://wwww.applefox.biz.vi

I was wondering If I could please make this "site" again. If I can then could you not delete it intently until you talk to me about it. I didn't know there was something wrong in the first place. I will make sure I don't brake any terms of use and if I do can you please let me know so I can fix it instead of deleting it. Once again sorry I was mad. Please respond. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Applefox (talkcontribs) 23:50, 2 October 2008 (UTC)

You should review WP:WEB, which states the requirements for articles on web content to make sure your article meets them. I won't delete it, since you asked, but that doesn't mean that any of the other 1600 administrators won't, for the same reasons I did the first time. Acroterion (talk) 00:16, 3 October 2008 (UTC)

Reverting Vandalism

Thanks for reverting the vandalism on my talk page. First, and hopefully last, time I have been called a "racist gringo". Interesting evening. :) Take Care...NeutralHomerTalk 03:32, 3 October 2008 (UTC)

Sadly, I've been called far worse. Interestingly, the "Mexican" edits from Australia. Acroterion (talk) 03:35, 3 October 2008 (UTC)
As have I. I noticed that Australian connection. I wasn't aware they Zapatista had branched out to Australia. I bet you by tomorrow, I will be requesting page protection for my user page. The interesting things you encounter on Wikipedia :) Take Care...NeutralHomerTalk 03:42, 3 October 2008 (UTC)
It's not the first time I've seen this vandal. Viva Zapata! Acroterion (talk) 03:48, 3 October 2008 (UTC)

im confused

why my article im writing keeps getting deleted! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Alec dropdead (talkcontribs) 03:52, 3 October 2008 (UTC)

Because you're writing about a person who does not meet our criteria for inclusion. See WP:NOTE. Such articles are liable to deletion on sigt. Acroterion (talk) 03:54, 3 October 2008 (UTC)

You are a meanie

I can't believe you keep deleting my article on Lucy heidenreich. She is cool and totally my homie, and u r just picking on me cuz i'm latvian. i hate u!!!!!!!!!! Betsy Mcfakename (talk) 103:55, 3 October 2008 (UTC)

I am a meanie, Ms. McFakename (you must be one of those Scots-Latvians that are agitating in other portions of the encyclopedia for the return of the Sclatvian Recovered Territories to their rightful, erm, owners. I think the Isle of Man has jurisdiction). Anyway, go ahead and re-create your article so I can have the mean, soul-destroying joy of deleting it and trampling on your tiny dreams. Warm regards, Acroterion (talk) 16:24, 3 October 2008 (UTC)
Everyone who looks objectively and fairly at the best sources can clearly see that Scotland has always belonged to Latvia. Unfortunately, the best efforts of myself and my fellow Latvians, who have only the best interests of the world at heart, are being destroyed by the Scottish Cabal, whom are removing our corrections because they are all extremist radical terrorists who believe in killing Latvian babies. I suspect all of the Scots on Wikipedia of being sockpuppets; you must block them all if The Truth is ever to be told. -User:Betsy Mcfakename
Google searches turn up indications of a sinister Scottish-Latvian collaboration, including this gem [3], with items like: “New Chauffeur service for teachers – in future all teachers will be conveyed directly from home to school by limousine”. “SEED to place order for 1000 new limousines”. “Scottish/Latvian Teachers’ Action Group formed. Attendance at initial meeting exceeds 200”. Indeed. It's worse than I thought. A limousine-borne invasion of Scottish-Latvian teachers is poised just offshore as we speak. Acroterion (talk) 17:37, 3 October 2008 (UTC)
Once again, we see that it's true: if you can imagine it, you can find it on the Internet. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 17:45, 4 October 2008 (UTC)
Perhaps your teacher's union should use this guy to negotiate the next contract? Acroterion (talk) 17:46, 4 October 2008 (UTC)

Oh, come on...

... They just kept getting better and better! Oh, well. I liked your block reason, though. J.delanoygabsadds 01:35, 4 October 2008 (UTC)

See the Betsy Mcfakename thread above. I should have used User:FisherQueen/Fq-block, though. Acroterion (talk) 01:37, 4 October 2008 (UTC)
Or whatever FisherQueen/Mcfakename's template's called. Acroterion (talk) 01:38, 4 October 2008 (UTC)

aww cmon i was just having some fun. let me edit again man... ill be good. for real. no joke.

Nobody's blocked you. Just don't introduce nonsense articles. Acroterion (talk) 01:50, 4 October 2008 (UTC)

all right. i think ill call it a night. i caused enough trouble already.... but still footeus smelliteous is a good read. well atleast its funny. maybe we should get it appealed or something.--footeus smelliteous 02:29, 4 October 2008 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ganja head (talkcontribs)

Glad you had fun, but I think it's best left deleted. Good night - Acroterion (talk) 02:31, 4 October 2008 (UTC)
By the way, that template does have all the usual fields available, I think: {{User:FisherQueen/Fq-block|time=100,000 years|reason=too stupid to edit|sig=~~~~}} should work just fine with it. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 17:47, 4 October 2008 (UTC)

David Tombe requests unblock ...

FYI. What do you think about this? While he seems to know what he is talking about when the topic is physics, he does not seem to get that his behavior has been in any way problematic. (I don't want to unblock him until he does.) Cheers, Antandrus (talk) 15:44, 8 October 2008 (UTC)

I think he needs to understand why he's been blocked so many times, and that there's no conspiracy against him. Quite the opposite, I gave him more latitude and second chances than I'd give many other editors, based on his apparently sincere interest in improving the encyclopedia. He has significant problems with working in a collaborative editing environment such as this: many people do, and it's not an indictment of the person, it's just how people are. Some people just can't edit Wikipedia without trouble. My advice to him some time ago was that the environment is alien: what might be a five-minute round of shouting in a seminar room turns into weeks of wrangling here.
I claim no special expertise in physics, but I've gleaned that Tombe may have unorthodox views on relativity, and his arguments on Centrifugal force reflect his rejection of the frames of reference that relativity imposes. That does not mean that I endorse the swamp that Centrifugal force (rotating reference frame) has become, it just means that I haven't the background to judge. I doubt that the re-injection of Tombe back into the mix will help. His apparent lack of understanding concerning my block after his edits on Mozart for tenaciously editing against consensus because he was convinced of the rightness of his cause doesn't give me hope for the future. Still, I don't like to deny sincere contributions to the project. Call me on the fence about this. Acroterion (talk) 17:11, 8 October 2008 (UTC)

You have been the subject of a personal attack at tpi.wikipedia.org

Hello Acroterion. This is to notify you that on 7th October 2008, you were the subject of a personal attack by a user who created an account with a username specifically to offend/disparage you. The user has been blocked from accessing tpi.wikipedia.org (where I am currently an administrator), and this has been done as an indefinite block. If you have any questions or wish to know the name of this user, you are welcome to contact me via my Tok Pisin talk page. I will also be watching other wikipediæ in case this user attempts to set up elsewhere. Regards, Thor Malmjursson (talk) 17:52, 8 October 2008 (UTC)

JACK'S Hangover Relief

I have revised my posting as best as possible. This is not an advertisement, I am sharing information on a topic that I could not find here in Wiki. If I need to present it differently, please advise. I simply obtained information on the internet and from company sources and posted it here. If there is another way to do it please help.

Thanks —Preceding unsigned comment added by Hangoverking (talkcontribs) 13:16, 9 October 2008 (UTC)

This is an inappropriate use of Wikipedia: there are dozens of OTC remedies, and there is no indication that this is any different than any other remedy. Please do not insert this material again. Given your username, you appear to have a single purpose for editing Wikipedia. Acroterion (talk) 13:46, 9 October 2008 (UTC)

Centrifugal Force

Acroterion, I was interested in your keen perception that my objection to the rotating frames of reference in centrifugal force may indicate an underlying unorthodox view on relativity. Well it all comes down to the fact that centrifugal potential energy only occurs in a bucket of water when it is actually rotating. This points to the reality of absolute rotation which does indeed somewhat undermine the principles involved in relativity. Anyway, you should watch how the discussion progresses. I will not be editing the main article unless a consensus is reached. David Tombe (talk) 15:47, 9 October 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for the compliment: I've reached the limits of my knowledge of Newtonian vs. relativistic physics and have no further observations, not can I contribute to the discussion. Good luck, and happy editing. Acroterion (talk) 15:51, 9 October 2008 (UTC)

please send a copy of this deleted page (and all its wiki edits) to my talk page in addition, I also request an explanantion of its deletion after the initial speedy deletion tag was successfuly contested. --MDnews2u (talk) 18:40, 9 October 2008 (UTC)

Deletion

what exactly do i have to do to make a page that will not be removed? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Nigamajiga (talkcontribs) 03:15, 10 October 2008 (UTC)

You need to write about an organization that meets Wikipedia's notability standards for web content. By your own assertion, the website you're writing about is almost unknown: therefore, it doesn't qualify for inclusion, as Wikipedia documents notability rather than creating it. Acroterion (talk) 03:47, 10 October 2008 (UTC)
Also, I have grave concerns about your chosen username: can you explain its derivation? Acroterion (talk) 03:48, 10 October 2008 (UTC)

Kid Acne

crikey, you could have given me a chance. i created the site, then wrote a page of a4 notes to go with it, and couldnt save it because of your deletion. you could have at least given me half an hour to fill out the article before you deleted it? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Andyblack (talkcontribs) 12:00, 10 October 2008 (UTC)

Feel free to re-create, keeping in mind that the subject will need to meet the requirements of WP:BAND for notability. The easiest way to create an article is to edit it on a text editor and upload in one go, or to create a subpage in userspace to write and format the article. Acroterion (talk) 12:03, 10 October 2008 (UTC)

Request that the entry Rachael Hulme be put back

I believe I met the Wikipedia requirements for a biography by listing the significant deeds the person has achieved. I listed the awards that she has won in the entry and therefor met the requirements and so I request that you put the entry back (if thats possible or at least allow me to remake it without being deleted). I also would like to point out that you had no grounds to delete it in the first place. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Haye123 (talkcontribs) 15:01, 11 October 2008 (UTC)

The article was deleted because it asserted no actual notability: "up-and-coming" means that the person isn't yet notable. A mention of a couple of non-specific prizes are equally unassertive of notability. Wikipedia is a place where pre-existing notability is documented through independent third-party references. It is not a place to create notability or to assert that somebody's going to be important one of these days. Please see WP:NOTE and WP:UPANDCOMING. Acroterion (talk) 15:40, 11 October 2008 (UTC)

No, I'm just lucky. I have a DSL connection, so it's not what you'd call lightning fast, and I only delete articles that aren't already tagged by others if it's an obvious call. Acroterion (talk) 18:51, 13 October 2008 (UTC)

Could you fix a cut and paste move?

It appears that on the 16th, Armorerhistory was moved to Armourerhistory by way of cut and paste by User:IngSoc BigBrother. Now obviously cut and paste moves are bad, so would you be able to resolve it, next time you're around? Thanks Dreaded Walrus t c 16:30, 21 October 2008 (UTC)

Fixed - I moved it over the redirect and confused myself, but it's all fixed now. Acroterion (talk) 17:23, 21 October 2008 (UTC)
Thanks guy. I didn't care whether it was on armorer or armourer, I just knew that coming to you would probably get it done quicker than Template:db-histmerge. It helps to have a friend in high places. :P Dreaded Walrus t c 18:13, 21 October 2008 (UTC)
It was relatively simple, since Armourer was never more than a redirect, so there was no history to merge - just don't ask me to do a complex history merge, as I've never attempted one. Acroterion (talk) 18:31, 21 October 2008 (UTC)

Warning deleted by you

I posted a warning on the IP user page for 213.79.48.261 [5] and you deleted it. Why did you do that? The IP was vandalizing, and there has to be "adequate warning" for WP:AIV to issue a block in case he repeats vandalism. Your deletion interferes with that process. Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? 11:52, 29 October 2008 (UTC)

You created it in article space, not on the user's talk page: you created 213.79.48.26 (not xxx.xxx.xxx.261). I took it as a mistake (unless the lulz were so epic that this IP needed its own article?). Acroterion (talk) 12:03, 29 October 2008 (UTC)
You're right. Somehow my standard template for posting those warnings is no longer working properly - created an article instead of posting to the IP's talk page. Sorry about the confusion. I see it was marked for delete again. Go ahead and delete it. Meanwhile, I have to figure out where my update went wrong all of a sudden. Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? 12:06, 29 October 2008 (UTC)
I figured as much - either that, or you need more coffee. Acroterion (talk) 12:08, 29 October 2008 (UTC)

Maybe you could tell me what the problem is. I've had this think on my user page for awhile. It used to append "User talk:" to the string, and it has suddenly stopped doing that and I have to prefix it. Did some behind-the-scenes format change occur?

left-angle-bracket inputbox right-angle-bracket type=comment editintro=User:Baseball Bugs/warn5 preload=User:Baseball Bugs/warn5 default=User_talk: buttonlabel=Warn User with Level5 bgcolor=#FF0000 width=50 left-angle-bracket forward-slash inputbox right-angle-bracket

It actually looks like this:

You have an unwarranted faith in my understanding of scripts and coding. I'm all flattered, but not much help. I do know that Twinkle and Huggle were badly borked a couple of days ago after the MediaWiki software was updated, but I don't know why your script would wait until now to break. Your fine new article

Hey, I saw your new article Mizpah Hotel when I was doing New Page Patrol, and I wanted to commend you for your fine work (again!). Also...I hope it is not a bother, but seeing you are an architect I thought you might find a new piece I contributed to be of interest: Massaro House. Thanks and be well! Ecoleetage (talk) 13:32, 4 November 2008 (UTC)

Thanks! I think the Mizpah article has the highest reference/word ratio of anything I've done - given the myths associated with it, it seemed like a good idea.
I like the Massaro House article - it's a good example of an intellectual property issue that's frequently ignored. Most architects have had the experience of a client who wants some preliminary work done, and then vanishes, only to have a strangely familiar building appear a while later. This isn't quite the same thing, but it's an interesting discussion of a neglected feature of copyright law. The Wright Foundation has a strong interest in protecting their brand, as that's where the money comes from. I think the attribution that was negotiated seems fair - it isn't a Wright house, any more than a full painting from a Picasso sketch could be, but it's recognizably his design. It would be nice to have the original Wright rendering in the article, but that's a real copyright problem. Acroterion (talk) 13:43, 4 November 2008 (UTC)
Thank you so much for taking the time to read the Massaro House article, and for your generous comments. Enjoy the day! :) Ecoleetage (talk) 13:47, 4 November 2008 (UTC)

I think I know what to do to fix that so that doesn't happen. I added the "blocked" template to the Word77 pages. Thanks for helping on the reverts and blocking. - NeutralHomerTalk • November 6, 2008 @ 02:39
Maybe you can answer this, why do people keep deleting the Word77 user and talk pages. I know why you did cause of my goof, but after you blocked (and I placed the block template for ya) there shouldn't have been any reason to delete the pages....and of course they just were. Why? My mistake, I wasn't noticing that I was recreating the goofed up pages. OK, now I am embarrassed. - NeutralHomerTalk • November 6, 2008 @ 02:58
More script work is needed, I think. Just keep in mind that you have more folks keeping an eye on your edits, so please be judicious in tagging things. Acroterion (talk) 03:00, 6 November 2008 (UTC)
Indeed, what is weird is it used to work just fine. I am unsure what the problem is. I won't be using that til it gets worked on (like in a moment). I am more embarrassed I was recreating Wikipedia Word77 pages instead of User:Word77 pages. Excuse my while I find a rock to crawl under. *majorly embarrassed* - NeutralHomerTalk • November 6, 2008 @ 03:03 03:03, 6 November 2008 (UTC)
Baseball Bugs and I had an uncannily similar discussion a couple of days ago, and he figured out a work-around. It seems to be a common problem with custom user scripts that were broken by the recent MediaWiki changes. Acroterion (talk) 03:07, 6 November 2008 (UTC)
I will have to ask him his work-around, cause I am stumped. I am personally surprised I got it working before :) Take Care...NeutralHomerTalk • November 6, 2008 @ 03:08

Why did you delete my RFA? It had only been up for about 45 seconds. Valserian (talk) 02:41, 6 November 2008 (UTC)

You created it in article space. Not knowing the difference between article space and Wikipedia space is not a symptom of readiness for RfA, nor is having only a couple of dozen edits. I don't see any possibility in fewer than three months, and more like six months - and you can expect opposition then, too. It is my position that the default is to allow good-faith contributors to edit, which resulted in your return to editing. Automated tools are a more discretionary privilege, and they have a way of getting you in trouble. For your own welfare, I think you should resign yourself to the old-fashioned way for a while. Crey

I just wanted to tell you that crey is not nonsense and that it is a widely used word in the English language. So if you could please put the page back up it would be greatly appreciated. Besides it is not hurting anybody by being posted on this site. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.128.253.108 (talk) 00:27, 14 November 2008 (UTC)

Wikipedia is not for things you made up one day. Acroterion (talk) 00:37, 14 November 2008 (UTC)

Alright I will stop posting crey until it becomes a world-wide phenomenon, which it will.Soon. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Badgerfan6 (talkcontribs) 01:11, 14 November 2008 (UTC)

The Smyth Issue

Acroterion, I was wondering is there any need for George Smyth XI to remain blocked. I have absolutely no intention of using the account again. As you can see from user history, he officially signed out on April 24th when I decided that an alias was unnecessary. However, his edits are still present on some of the EM articles. It might be better if his user page simply said 'former alias of David Tombe', rather than sockpuppet, blocked indefinitely. After all, in all fairness to George Smyth XI, he never did engage in sockpuppet abuse. Any short overlap was simply due to an extended debate which went on longer than intended. I'd be grateful if you could undo the block. I'd go in one more time simply to re-wite the user page. David Tombe (talk) 19:29, 14 November 2008 (UTC)

I went ahead and deleted the page, which seems to me to accomplish your intention. I've unblocked the account, and if you wish to start the page anew, with a note that this is a permitted alternate account for David Tombe, that's fine, or you can just leave it be if you've no intention of using it. Acroterion (talk) 20:52, 14 November 2008 (UTC)

Acroterion, OK. Thanks very much for doing that. David Tombe (talk) 05:16, 15 November 2008 (UTC)

Request for blocking of IP 69.15.168.107

As I have seen by your comment on this IP addresses talk page, you have had to warn this IP.

Well this IP continues to make edits of pure vandalism and wasting everyones time, and I request that he/she is blocked from editing Wikipedia for a while. List of IP's contributions {JoshB (talk) 17:12, 15 November 2008 (UTC))

Please remember to post at the bottom of talk pages. That IP has only vandalized once this month. While it appears to be a problem IP, it's not appropriate to block in those circumstances. IP's usually change, and we don't block for single edits when a different user may be editing in a couple of days. My warning to that IP was 13 months ago. Please do not cut-and-paste warnings, as the date stamp and signature are wrong. I appreciate your interest in correcting vandalism. You might want to look at WP:VANDAL to review our policies and procedures. Acroterion (talk) 20:20, 15 November 2008 (UTC)
OK. Thanks for responding (JoshB (talk) 21:46, 15 November 2008 (UTC))

Rules and Regulations

Acroterion, On the issue of verifiability, I want to get this matter clear. My understanding up until now was that an edit only needed to be instantly verified if it was likely to be challenged. It is of course highly subjective as to what is likely to be challenged. I have done a number of edits all of which can be verified. I have read many sources over the years. But I don't always have those sources immediately to hand. I have had a number of requests for sources tonight. The last request required me to think a bit, but then I remembered that it merely meant drawing attention to the world value of the pound (and dollar) lists in the Financial Times newspaper. Since I can now forsee that some of these verifications might need a few weeks to obtain, I have decided to stop editing wikipedia altogether for the forseeable future because I don't want to fall foul of any regulations. If anybody so wishes to remove any edits which I have made on the grounds that sources weren't instantly provided, then let them feel free to do so. There will be no more edit wars. However, I can assure you that sources do exist. I went through hundreds of books in the Westminster central libray and the British library in the 1980's and 1990's and I have references jotted down on pieces of paper. I have used Pick's currency year book, coin catalogues, Stanley Gibbons stamp catalogues, year books from South Africa, New Zealand, Australia, and Canada, and Whitakers Almanacs, and many more. I have sifted through old newspapers at the Colindale library in North London and abroad. But now I've just checked the rules and it seems that it is not encouraged that an overall picture be inferred from multiple sources as this can then be interpreted as original research. So I'm going to leave it at that for the time being. I'll monitor any responses and respond accordingly. I had been trying to get good coherent articles in topics about which I was knowledgeable, but unfortunately it always ended up with me stepping on peoples' toes. David Tombe (talk) 21:41, 15 November 2008 (UTC)

I saw one of those exchanges, and while The Rules have indeed gotten more stringent concerning citations, I think "no uncited post box information" is putting it a bit too strongly. You may find the WP:INSPECTOR essay relevant, although it's more geared to deletion discussions. You should, of course, avoid synthesis, but a careful approach to sticking to the facts is really all that's needed. Wikipedia is making a transition from the wild information frontier, when you could write an article on Blue, to article improvement and expansion, hence the emphasis on citations. I wouldn't let this get you down - there's still plenty to do, but when I compare my early work to present days, it's clear that standards are changing in favor of elaborate in-line, paginated citations, rather than a bibliographic summary at the end. However, summary references are still acceptable. I would note that Good Article and Featured Article standards are driving this, and the article evaluation folks regard in-line references, the more the better, as essential. For the areas in which I work, there are few participants, and we generally cite the basic facts and anything that seems a bit odd, but there isn't a cite for each line. Regards, Acroterion (talk) 01:02, 16 November 2008 (UTC)
Acroterion, thanks for that information. I think I'll have to be more careful for the forseeable future because I am often working from multiple sources that I read anytime in the last twenty or thirty years. That's probably been alot of the problem. David Tombe (talk) 14:08, 16 November 2008 (UTC)

Jack arches

Hi. Does your offer of writing a paragraph on the topic of jack arches still stand. I would love to contribute to the article. Thanks: Kevin Hogan —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.40.243.54 (talk) 00:32, 16 November 2008 (UTC)

Absolutely. Go ahead, you can edit as an IP, or you can sign up for an account. Either way, some references would be good, but I'd be glad to help if you have any questions. Acroterion (talk) 01:08, 16 November 2008 (UTC)

You should have a look at WP:MUSIC for notability critera - simply being offered on iTunes isn't enough, and free give-aways don't accomplish notability. Has he/you charted? Toured? Signed to a major label? On the positive side, this is better than 98% of the music article submissions. Regards, Acroterion (talk) 16:29, 16 November 2008 (UTC)

Douko

May I suggest that you change the block to "indefinite, pending a satisfactory explanation of his behaviour"? We need to treat these things a bit more seriously than the average minor vandalism.—Kww(talk) 22:28, 16 November 2008 (UTC)

He had a few positive contributions, but he was willing to edit-war to insert the hoax, so yeah, I'll make it an indef-until-explained. Acroterion (talk) 00:26, 17 November 2008 (UTC)

Andrew Rudkin Matthews

Please don't delete the article on Andrew Rudkin Matthews. This is the first page I have created and am slowly learning how to edit an article. Thanks

You should review our requirements for the notability of individuals. If the person is notable according to Wikipedia requirements, you should indicate how in the article. Otherwise, I'd suggest that you learn by helping to improve articles - there at more than 2 million, and help is always appreciated. Acroterion (talk) 01:05, 17 November 2008 (UTC)

Montrillion records

I would like to remind you that in the years between 2001 and 2003 the city of rialto california was a very grim place to be due to street violence the JERK ROCK section of the page is only there for educational purposes this is not ajoke once again montrillion records does exist please do not delete our wikipedia i urge you please http://www.myspace.com/montrillionrecords —Preceding unsigned comment added by Montrilllionrecords (talkcontribs) 12:39, 17 November 2008 (UTC)

I understand that it exists: the question is, does it meet Wikipedia's requirements for notability? See WP:MUSIC and WP:CORP for our submission and notability requirements. Simple existence is not enough. Acroterion (talk) 12:57, 17 November 2008 (UTC)

thank you

Thank you for your help with "The Commonwealth Club" listing. I was having a hard time trying to figure out how to do the box.

You can find the link to Elkman (talk · contribs)'s handy NRHP infobox generator at WP:NRHP, and if you're interested, you can sign on to the National Register of Historic Place wikiproject. A couple of notes: "Commonwealth Club (Richmond, Virginia)" might be preferable to "The Commonwealth Club", as the article is superfluous, and there are other Commonwealth Clubs: Commonwealth Club disambiguation page. Also, since technically, the club is only a portion of the historic district, a discussion of the district would be nice in a subsidiary paragraph. Thanks for the article, and we appreciate your work! Acroterion (talk) 17:34, 17 November 2008 (UTC)

The Timothy Carrington West Issue

Acroterion, There's another outstanding issue which I'd like to clear up. It is regarding the block evasion which I did in the summer in order to communicate with Fugal. I used a discarded account. I had not actually intended using that account again, but when Fugal entered the centrifugal force debate, I considered it as a matter of urgency to somehow communicate with him. If I could have e-mailed him I would have done so. I appreciate that it was against the rules, and I am now confident that a similar situation will not occur again. Timothy Carrington West was the predecessor of George Smyth VI. He only did three edits and was then abandoned. The edits in question show up on the Lorentz force talk page. There was also the other account opened during that block evasion period, but never used. It was username D Tombe. I have absolutely no intention of using either of these two accounts again. In fact I can't even remember the password of the latter one. I'd be most grateful if you could unblock them both, as part of a new start. David Tombe (talk) 21:15, 17 November 2008 (UTC)

It's Tim Carrington West (talk · contribs), not Timothy. I believe that account and D Tombe (talk · contribs) were blocked by Mr.Z-man (talk · contribs) so it would be best to approach him about this matter. By the way, it was George Smyth XI (talk · contribs), not VI. Is there any particular reason these need to be unblocked? I can always take off the Mark of Cain/sockpuppet tag, and they can just fade away. Acroterion (talk) 02:47, 18 November 2008 (UTC)
Acroterion, Yes it was Tim and it was also XI. I forgot. I have no intention of using them again. If you can remove the tag, I'd be most grateful. David Tombe (talk) 14:26, 18 November 2008 (UTC)
Done. Acroterion (talk) 14:28, 18 November 2008 (UTC)

Stehekin

Hey, was doing NPP and noticed your article.. have you been there? This summer I did hiking around there and spent some time in Stehekin. Later on in Twisp, WA I met a Stehekin "Year-Rounder" whose son went to the school. If you're curious you can see my photos here [7] --Omarcheeseboro (talk) 23:15, 18 November 2008 (UTC)

Sadly, Washington is one of the nine states I have yet to visit - it's on the list, though. I was mostly doing articles for which I'd discovered some National Park Service sources and images, and had made it around to Chelan County. Do they still use the school?
The weather looks suitably cloudy, and I hope you didn't eat the whole cinnamon roll.Acroterion (talk) 23:49, 18 November 2008 (UTC)
After 4+ days of backcountry hiking, I was more than happy to consume the entire Cinnamon Roll. It still is a one room schoolhouse, but they built a new one in the 80s. [8] There was a big controversy in that town a few years ago when they installed some phone lines. It's very isolated, and they like it that way --Omarcheeseboro (talk) 01:25, 19 November 2008 (UTC)

National Parks Multiple Property Submissions

I noticed you've been creating quite a few articles about NRHP properties in the national parks, including several in Glacier National Park. (I was on a hiking trip out there about three years ago, and I really enjoyed it. Our group stayed at Lake McDonald Lodge, Granite Park Chalet, and Many Glacier Hotel -- three National Historic Landmarks in one trip.)

Anyway, I have a suggestion for the articles you've been creating: How about creating summary articles for the Multiple Property Submissions in each park characterizing what was selected, what the historic contexts were all about, and other stuff that might thematically tie the submissions together. Then, a link from Glacier National Park (U.S.) to the appropriate article (like Historic structures in Glacier National Park (U.S.) or whatever it's named) could serve to draw reader interest in a collection of historic resources.

What do you think? I suppose I probably should offer to help out, but work these days has been really, really hectic and I'm lucky to sneak in a new page patrol here and there. --Elkman (Elkspeak) 05:20, 19 November 2008 (UTC)

I agree: many of these articles are variations on a theme - Fire lookouts in Glacier National Park, Patrol Cabins in Glacier National Park, Ranger Stations in Glacier National Park, Dude ranches in Grand Teton National Park, Bill Keyes in Joshua Tree National Park and the like. I'm not pleased with 70 or 80 stubs that don't really give a picture, and the NRHP noms were the product of thematic studies, so there ought to be a parent article or a consolidation with redirects to give the reader more meat. Somebody at Glacier was very enthusiastic about the National Register - I haven't seen quite such comprehensive coverage of every standing pile of logs anywhere else. I don't see the creation of the individual articles as wasted time, because it's given me a good feel for the subject matter, but I believe I'll create some sandbox pages to work on summary articles. The stubs are nice because they fit into the frragmented time I have for writing and researching. Acroterion (talk) 12:39, 19 November 2008 (UTC)
I've made a strart on an introduction to one subject here [9]. Feel free to criticize, amend, mangle, etc. Acroterion (talk) 13:46, 19 November 2008 (UTC)
I think the article you started presents a reasonably good list, although it would be useful to provide some narrative of why the fire towers are significant. Are they of common architecture, or different? What time period were they built in? What were the problems they were trying to solve? I'm not sure if the research material (like the list of classified structures) will tell you everything about that, though, so don't bust your back just because I'm being picky. :)
There are similar groupings of structures, such as snowshoe cabins, tourist cabins and bunkhouses, camptenders' cabins, utility areas and buildings, and so on. I'm debating whether those groupings should go as subsections within one article, or if we should have separate articles on the cabins, the utility structures, the fire lookouts, and other classifications. I'm leaning toward one article since all the buildings and structures are in the same MPS, but with a few hundred properties in Glacier on the National Register, that could get a bit big. What do you think? --Elkman (Elkspeak) 17:17, 19 November 2008 (UTC)
Well yes, there will be more than one paragraph - I had to go to work, go to meetings and pay the bills, and clients are precious these days. How about Rustic architecture in Glacier National Park? A section could go to each of the different types of structures, as they are remarkably consistent in form and purpose within each type. The research material is hit-and-miss, and it would be great to have access to a couple of the noms, as they would go on for a couple of pages about the themes. The main reason I was pursuing these articles was because there was a fairly good set of photographs and a few dates and circumstances to establish the basic characteristics, all of which could be referenced back to the list of classified structures. I wish there were more places like Virginia and West Virginia that have the noms scanned and on line. Acroterion (talk) 18:28, 19 November 2008 (UTC)
I've broadened it out a bit. It would be nice to have a good general reference, as this is the sort of thing that can drift out of a general summary into a synthesis. Acroterion (talk) 23:10, 19 November 2008 (UTC)

Sorta problem

Wow, what a morning. I think I get myself in more problems in the AM than anything. Sheesh! Anywho, you reverted an edit by Theaveng from my talk page. I thought that was from Pedro as it was signed by him (Pedro). Turns out it was from Theaveng and a copy of something that Pedro had put on Theaveng's talk page moments earlier. Perhaps you could say something about this to Theaveng as I didn't realize it wasn't from Pedro until after you removed it....after I had posted to Pedro :S. - NeutralHomerTalk • November 20, 2008 @ 13:08

That's why I removed it, but I hadn't sorted out the chain of events quite as accurately as I'd thought. Anyway, everybody's talking, nobody's blocked, and let's all try not to poke each other with sharp sticks, OK? I have no position on the FCC vs. Nielsen business, but as C.Fred says, OTRS trumps my opinion anyway. Acroterion (talk) 13:17, 20 November 2008 (UTC)
Indeed. At least everyone is talking. I, personally, am going to two Aleve and take a nice nap after all that. This is why I like radio station articles, no arguements :) Take Care...NeutralHomerTalk • November 20, 2008 @ 13:19

How do I make an article about someone that you don't know important enough to you.?

I would like to know how to make a good small article about a person without it getting deleted. You sighted unimportance, so how do I make it important?

There are many ways a person can become more notable. Maybe you can help your friend run for President; if he is elected, he will certainly be notable then. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 17:18, 20 November 2008 (UTC)

Any other, more easily accomplishable ideas? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Hamstertanner (talkcontribs) 17:24, 20 November 2008 (UTC)

I was using humor to express a serious idea: if your friend isn't a notable person, then Wikipedia doesn't need an article about him, and there isn't anything you can really do about that. Instead of asking, 'how can I get my friend on Wikipedia,' try asking, 'what articles can I improve to make the encyclopedia better?' -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 17:26, 20 November 2008 (UTC)

Wikipedia would be better if my friend was on it. He has been on the news a number of times. How's that? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Hamstertanner (talkcontribs) 17:32, 20 November 2008 (UTC)

I doubt it. Can you provide sources for these appearances in the national media? Acroterion (talk) 18:26, 20 November 2008 (UTC)

Also, do you administrators get payed for sitting at a computer and deleting articles and giving advice all day. Because that sounds like a way cool job. If not, then why? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Hamstertanner (talkcontribs) 17:45, 20 November 2008 (UTC)

No, we don't get paid. Do you get paid to submit nonsense? Because that seems like a real waste of time, compared to providing a free encyclopedia to the world.Acroterion (talk) 18:26, 20 November 2008 (UTC)

God Is My Broker

Hi,

I am just starting to do my first full entry on Wikipedia. I do not understand what that entry was considered blantant advertising. It was not my intention to do so —Preceding unsigned comment added by Cheeyuen77 (talkcontribs) 16:20, 21 November 2008 (UTC)

Nonetheless, it was written as promotion: "an incredible story" ... "Now, for the first time, Brother Ty reveals the secrets he has gleaned from the ancient texts of the monks, and tells how you can get God to be your broker. God Is My Broker is the first truly great self-help business novel. Open this book and open your heart. It will change your life." That's not advertising? The latest version has removed the promotional prose, but it may not meet out notability standards for books. Acroterion (talk) 16:59, 21 November 2008 (UTC)

you know what?!

I agree that it was neutral and factual, but it was deleted because there was no assertion or substantiation of notability. That is a requirement for articles on companies and organizations. Acroterion (talk) 20:27, 21 November 2008 (UTC)

The Vicious Mouse Killers

What do you mean this doesn't follow A7? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Hitokirikatosi (talkcontribs) 04:05, 22 November 2008 (UTC)

It means, in Wikipedia-jargon, that the band isn't notable enough for inclusion. See WP:MUSIC for inclusion criteria. In this case, there was no indication of significance, which qualifies it for speedy deletion. Acroterion (talk) 04:11, 22 November 2008 (UTC)
Myspace is a legitimate music chart as are the hundrends of fans they have in the state of Washington
Not on Wikipedia. Acroterion (talk) 13:53, 22 November 2008 (UTC)
Your argument isn't even valid, that is three words, seven syllables, are you telling me Wikipedia is more ligitimate than Myspace? My friend you haven't looked at the 21st century close enough —Preceding unsigned comment added by Hitokirikatosi (talkcontribs) 19:07, 22 November 2008 (UTC)
This isn't an argument. Read WP:MUSIC for our requirements. If you can tell me how your MySpace band meets our inclusion requirements, please do. Having a band page on MySpace is not a sign of notability - rather the reverse. Acroterion (talk) 19:11, 22 November 2008 (UTC)
Are you telling me that bands on MySpace aren't relevant? Weezer, Flogging Molly, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Metallica, Rush, and etc. It's just a band I've heard a lot of in my local area and I believe they deserve a little more recognition. Their history is great and so is their music. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Hitokirikatosi (talkcontribs) 19:24, 22 November 2008 (UTC)
They aren't notable because they're on MySpace. They meet the requirements of WP:MUSIC, though. Do you see a pattern to this advice? Also, vandalizing other articles doesn't help the cause. Acroterion (talk) 19:27, 22 November 2008 (UTC)

I will admit the vandalizing was childish on my part and I sincerely apoligize. I just assumed Wikipedia would be more accepting to bands like the aforementioned. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Hitokirikatosi (talkcontribs) 19:31, 22 November 2008 (UTC)

Apology accepted. However, I estimate that about 100-200 MySpace bands get deleted every day, because that's the only place they really exist. If they get signed, tour, etc., then an article will happen. After all, new acts start somewhere. Acroterion (talk) 19:36, 22 November 2008 (UTC)

Oisin the fag

Despite the name of the article, it didn't look like an attack page to me. The author, Coolioman213, was describing the boxer ... and I thought I'd clean the page up a little bit. WadeSimMiser (talk) 03:38, 28 November 2008 (UTC)

Nonetheless, it was an attack page. There was a good bit of abuse in there, and the title is inappropriate: we already have Oisin Fagan, so one article, correctly named, is enough. Acroterion (talk) 03:41, 28 November 2008 (UTC)
Thank you for pointing that out. WadeSimMiser (talk) 03:46, 28 November 2008 (UTC)
They just copied the article and amputated "Fagan" where desired, which pinpoints the writer's age at about 14. Acroterion (talk) 03:47, 28 November 2008 (UTC)

Re: TWINKLE

I figured it was worth a shot. Didn't think I would run into so much static. Not by you, you were actually nice, but everyone else. My main reason is, it is difficult to respond to vandalism, revert, warn the user and then respond to the next vandalism from the user (which there is always more than one vandalism from a certain user) in a timely fashion. If anything, I was looking at something to make the process easier or quicker.

I thought people would like the "look over my shoulder" idea (that was a BIG bust and taken in the wrong way). Most thought I would use it wrong and I should be watched. I thought people would feel better if I were open to people watching my edits.

As for exile, personally I have felt like I was in exile for awhile now. Mostly since everything I do is watched like a hawk by Metros (for all the wrong reasons) and I have to take demands from him. Not a great working environment. Little I can do about it. - NeutralHomerTalk • December 3, 2008 @ 04:52

Regarding our article!

Good day Acroterion,

My name is Gregory and I'm trying to write article regarding our new site. We are not trying to promote our site, just want our article to be listed on wikipeida. I do not know many guidelines and I did create second account because first one just got deleted, something about external link spam. But today when I was trying to improve our article, it was deleted also. First Account: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Masterg-wiki Second Account: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Sextubeguide

Our site is similar to ovguide.com just for adult users. Our site does not carry adult content, just links and logo of other popular adult sites. So far I have created this article, but again, I don't know much about wikipedia guidelines if you can, please let me know on how I can improve it this article that I have submitted below for you to check. my email is grishab72@hotmail.com

Thank you,

Greg

The article was deleted because it was clearly promotional in nature (see WP:SPAM), and did not indicate that it met any of Wikipedia's requirements for notability (WP:WEB). Please review these guidelines, and remember that Wikipedia is not a venue for advertising, nor is it a set of external links. Articles on web content should include references in reliable third-party media indicating the notability of the site, not a set of links to the website being described. Acroterion (talk) 02:39, 6 December 2008 (UTC)
By the way, the second account does not exist, and I strongly advise that it stay that way, as it will be blocked as a promotional account. We do not permit accounts representing organizations to contribute content: see WP:COI. If a website is sufficiently noteworthy, someone else will take an interest and write an article. We strongly discourage articles on yourself, your company, your band, or any other subject in which you are directly involved. Acroterion (talk) 02:43, 6 December 2008 (UTC)
PI was trying to make it right based on reviews of other article similar to this sites below
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ovguide None Adult
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xtube Adult
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Youporn Adult
Again, we are not trying to promote our site through wikipedia, just want our article to be listed so we can add direct link of wikipedia.org/wiki/example to our site so that our users can click on the link that will take them to wikipedia.org/wiki/example so they can read more information regarding our site.
I can remove all external links if that works. Please let me know? or can you help me fix existing article for me?
Thank you,
Greg
Masterg-wiki (talk) 03:02, 6 December 2008 (UTC)
I wouldn't cite Ovguide as a model article, but the common thread for all three is extensive coverage in third-party media, and in the case of the latter two, solid referencing documenting this coverage. That is the crucial point: has the website received significant coverage in independent media? If so, it should be cited. If there isn't, then it's not eligible for inclusion on Wikipedia. There are three issues: promotion, an apparent lack of notability, and an apparent conflict of interest. Acroterion (talk) 03:14, 6 December 2008 (UTC)

Giant Forest Lodge Historic District

The Giant Forest Lodge Historic District article looks great. It's nice to have these articles in Wikipedia and I thank you for contributing them. ChildofMidnight (talk) 05:07, 6 December 2008 (UTC)

Thanks! It's an interesting one, as it's not really there anymore, and was torn down by the folks in charge of cataloging it. There's an external link here [10] that contains a lot more pictures, but it's not exactly encyclopedic, as the author is very unhappy about its demise, so I've foregone a link in the article. Acroterion (talk) 05:12, 6 December 2008 (UTC)

I'm afraid, similar to Whitehall (Annapolis, Maryland), I created a new entry for Sotterley (Hollywood, Maryland), without first realizing there was an existing entry titled Sotterley (St. Mary's County, Maryland). Can you look at them for me and see whether I have done the merge correctly? I rtied after teh fact to Move Sotterley (St. Mary's County, Maryland) to Sotterley (Hollywood, Maryland), then editing, but I was unable to do that. Sorry about all this; I think I should have handled this differently.--Pubdog (talk) 11:34, 6 December 2008 (UTC)

Also, I am wondering whether it was you or User talk:Doncram who added the comment to Sotterley (Hollywood, Maryland), about Resurrection Manor? I found some authoritative data on the latter and created an article on that delisted property. TIA --- Ted--Pubdog (talk) 20:57, 7 December 2008 (UTC)
Done. As before, I saved a copy of the deleted version to your sandbox. My only contribution to the article was to add the MHT external link. Acroterion (talk) 22:28, 7 December 2008 (UTC)

User:Barcat

You recently blocked USer:Barcat for removing accurate information and references from Physician assistant. He doesn't seem to have entirely understood. While he only removed half the references this time, he re-introduced a significant mathematical error. (As has been discussed (without any apparent attention from Barcat) at great length on the article's talk page, it is not possible to get "about 9%" out of any possible combination of numbers in the listed reference.)

I am fixing the article again, but wonder if you'd undertake a further attempt at educating the editor. WhatamIdoing (talk) 03:25, 8 December 2008 (UTC)

Since I told them their next block would be indef, that's what I did, but I left a note asking them to explain their edits. I'm willing to listen to an explanation, if they're willing to provide one. Acroterion (talk) 03:35, 8 December 2008 (UTC)
Thanks. I'd be happy to have Barcat become a productive editor, if that's possible. He just doesn't seem to be 'getting it'. WhatamIdoing (talk) 05:11, 8 December 2008 (UTC)

Deletion of Aiden Carty

Aiden Carty was a genuine article which was under construction. He is well know to have influenced the works of Louis Kahn and Louis Sullivan. My referance to him being from th efourth dimension was talking about 4d part of one of buchmeinster fuhller books. Aiden Carty was well know to use the geometric systmes just as palladio who incidentally influenced corb. He spent most of his life studying the pazzi chappel and it is an injustice to the architecture world to delete him. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.71.4.9 (talk) 16:41, 8 December 2008 (UTC)

Ah. Your "genuine article" which states, and I quote: "Superior human being from the fourth dimension, who has had myriad architectural infulences without any arrogance or influence there upon. His work has been know to be plagerised by Louis Kahn and other greats now know as louis can't." Fine work. Maybe, as an apparent time lord he can alter the universe to make this an acceptable article for an encyclopedia, but I won't hold my breath. And it's Buckminster Fuller, just so you know. speedy deletion

I have been trying to add an article on Wikipedia titled "FoxFury."

It seems that you have deleted the article. May I ask why? I tried to keep all advertisement out of the article and leave only fact. I have looked over all WIKIPEDIA Rules and Regulations in adding an article and tried to apply them to the best of my abilities.

I have also view other lighting company’s Wikipedia article and the “FoxFury” article I have written looks no different.

What are your recommendations in how to change the article to make it seem less like an advertisement?

If you can please notify me on my talk page. USERNAME: Risingsaint

Hiya. i think this (dongcopter/helicockter) is a notable topic, as it caused quite a media uproar by upsetting Gary Kasparov's meeting... i can re-write the article into a proper, non-vandalism/prank page, if allowed. RingtailedFoxTalkContribs 03:40, 9 December 2008 (UTC)

Be my guest: the edit I deleted consisted of "http://dongcopter.com/images/dcspray.jpg jews did 9/11 on wheels" in its entirety, which is a little short on context and long on vandalism.Acroterion (talk) 03:46, 9 December 2008 (UTC)

Dormatitus Article

Thanks for your note, Acroterion.

This is my first new submission, so I'm pretty clumsy. Dormatitus is a "made up" term. It's a slang term used by college students.

How can I verify this is actually part of language? Could you hang on for a few days so I can get third-party validation? And what would be acceptable? Thanks so much, I really appreciate your patience and help.

Best Regards, klasalle Klasalle (talk) 18:32, 12 December 2008 (UTC)

In general, Google is your friend. We're looking for references in major newspapers or magazines, things like that. Take a look at our verifiability standards. I won't delete it myself, but I can't say that somebody else won't propose it for deletion. Personally, I see so much crap come through as new articles that it's refreshing to see somebody trying to make a good-faith effort, and I'm glad to help and provide encouragement. As it stands, I don't think it will last unless you find some solid references. Don't let that discourage you. Acroterion (talk) 18:40, 12 December 2008 (UTC)

The Big League

Greetings,

I had come to Wikipedia to work on the entry I created titled "The Big League" to notice that it had been deleted because I had failed to explain the relevance of the topic. The reason that I believe this page should remain on Wikipedia is because this league and style of fantasy football play is very unique. It has been in existence for almost 20 years and is sen in many circles on the internet as a pioneer of "dynasty leagues" which is a very specialized format of fantasy football. The league style has been copied 100s of times from other users and I have helped share this style of play. If you would reconsider the deletion I would add to the page to explain how they can set up their league to emulate this style of play. I guess the main reason that I created an entry on Wikipedia in the first place was to try and ensure that our league would indeed get credit for being one of the very first "dynasty leagues" in existence and provide a detailed blueprint for other people to follow.

Please let me know if there is anything I can do to have the page restored. I would be willing to do whatever you suggest.

thanks,

Ezlee2 (talk) 05:38, 13 December 2008 (UTC)

TBL Commissioner

The article (which was deleted a year ago) was deleted under our criteria for web content (see WP:WEB), since it did not indicate its notability as a website under Wikiedpa's criteria. It could also have been deleted as a non-notable organization. It did not include the information you mention above, although I don't think that is enough to establish notability on its own. In general, you would need to provide evidence that the league has received non-trivial notice on multiple independent media of national standing. See WP:V for verifiability requirements. If you wish, I will restore the article to your userspace for you to work on. Acroterion (talk) 14:26, 13 December 2008 (UTC)

mattyboy

hello there. even though my block has been removed, i would like to advertise the fact that vandalism is described as "a deliberate attempt to compromise the integrity of wikipedia" . i must disagree about my changes made to andy fish, as all were completely true. i have taken one of his classes, and he told the whole class about how he was attacked by his cat and also how he likes the way that other people talk. if you must say that it must be verifiable, then i ask you to prove that this is not true, specifically by asking mr. fish himself.

And I advise you that you are disrupting the encyclopedia, and that you may expect to be blocked if you repeat your behavior. The next time would be permanent. Acroterion (talk) 01:03, 14 December 2008 (UTC)

my apologies, i had little idea that this was a "wikipedia law", as i have only been a user for a few days. oh, and by the way, "Any good-faith effort to improve the encyclopedia, even if misguided or ill-considered, is not vandalism." this has been taken directly from the article on vandalism.

If you insist on a label, you were editing disruptively, and blocked accordingly. Vandalism is a subset of disruptive editing. Having learned that that is not countenanced, I'm sure you will be able to be a productive editor and an asset to the encyclopedia. Acroterion (talk) 02:37, 14 December 2008 (UTC)

There is no vandalism here, and it appears that you are trying to track something by putting code into the URL. Please do not make such unfounded accusations, and the URL should stand according to consensus. This edit summary of yours [11] is unacceptable. You also appear to be editing with both an account and an IP, which is strongly discouraged, and you may be trying to avoid WP:3RR by doing so.Acroterion (talk) 01:05, 20 December 2008 (UTC)

How do i fix it?

How do i fix my wikipedia article? —Preceding unsigned comment added by ElderKingpin (talkcontribs) 04:20, 20 December 2008 (UTC)

Please review our inclusion criteria at WP:WEB. In general, web content must have received significant coverage in independent third-party media to be considered sufficiently notable for inclusion in Wikipedia. There are useful links in the (several) deletions notices you've received, as well. Non-notable content is eligible for speedy deletion, as you have discovered. Acroterion (talk) 04:25, 20 December 2008 (UTC)
What do you mean by third-person party, like another person to signify that im correct?
It's partly to verify, but also to establish notability. A significant newspaper, preferably of national standing, or something like CNN or a major trade magazine. Blogs, individuals and the like are not acceptable. In general, gaming clans are not notable, and have a way of being deleted in minutes. Wikipedia is not for promotion. Acroterion (talk) 04:31, 20 December 2008 (UTC)
Can i continue to edit my page and not have it released? Like i make it so i edit it and its not technically "released" to the public so i cant get penalized for doing something wrong, and only have administrators have a look at it? or is that not possible. —Preceding unsigned comment added by ElderKingpin (talkcontribs) 04:34, 20 December 2008 (UTC)
Certainly. Tell you what, I'll make you a sandbox at User:ElderKingpin/Sandbox in your userspace and drop the content there and you can work with it. Just understand that there needs to be a credible assertion of notability in the article, with references to back it up before it can be acceptable for article space. Acroterion (talk) 04:40, 20 December 2008 (UTC)
By the way, please don't include the list of members, admins, their pet's names, etc. - this is an encyclopedia. Acroterion (talk) 04:54, 20 December 2008 (UTC)

No Chart?

Did the database not save the chart? It took me an hour and a half to do that chart. —Preceding unsigned comment added by ElderKingpin (talkcontribs) 04:57, 20 December 2008 (UTC)

Chase Brooks article

I am Chase Brooks' personal representative. I wrote an article over him because he is a self-published author whose novel, "Hello, My Love" has actually been doing rather successful. Claiming that this article is "useless" is, to be honest, ridiculous. He is a rising author and the page was created to let both readers, fans, and potential buyers learn more about both Mr. Brooks and his books, as well as his career as his rapidly developing career as a writer. So, please, get off your high horse and take some consideration for the articles that people have been working hard on for ACTUAL people who have ACTUAL careers, not people who sit at home on their computer all day so bored that they delete people's stuff. Thank you. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Cbrooks09 (talkcontribs) 01:35, 21 December 2008 (UTC)

Please read WP:NOTE for our notability requirements. If Mr. Brooks can provide multiple references in third-party publications of national standing, then he would be considered notable according to Wikipedia policies. On the basis of the information provided, an author of a self-published book would not be considered eligible for inclusion. Wikipedia is not a free webhost, it is not a means of promotion, and nobody has described the article is "useless". You may also wish to read our policies on conflict of interest, as you appear to have an interest in promoting this subject. Acroterion (talk) 01:48, 21 December 2008 (UTC)

I've gone ahead and completed stub articles for the remaining entries on the National Register of Historic Places listings in Frederick County, Maryland. Best wishes for the holidays.--Pubdog (talk) 01:27, 22 December 2008 (UTC)

Excellent. I saw you'd been adding map links, which are most useful. It would be nice if we can declare one state fully documented w/r/t the NRHP in 2009, but I hadn't really considered Maryland, given the number of articles needed (1500?). Your good work makes me think that it might be possible, after all. Cheers, Acroterion (talk) 01:41, 22 December 2008 (UTC)
Turned my attention the past two weeks to pics ... see National Register of Historic Places listings in Calvert County, Maryland and National Register of Historic Places listings in Prince George's County, Maryland. I'll bet I can bang out stubs for most NRHP entries in MD by the end of 2009. It's a worthy resolution! Thanks for the encouragement .. Ted--Pubdog (talk) 23:03, 1 January 2009 (UTC)

While I admire your attention to this user's vandalism on other pages I have to question this revert: [12], I do believe he has the right to edit his own talk page as he sees fit according to WP:UP#CMT --Uncle Milty (talk) 20:45, 26 December 2008 (UTC)

In 95% of cases, I agree with the sentiment above, but not this time: this was a sockpuppet of some blocked user with a grudge, who knew perfectly well what they were doing. I reinstated the warnings in lieu of a final warning. I would hardly describe this [13] edit as a constructive addition to the encyclopedia or constructive discourse. Acroterion (talk) 22:15, 26 December 2008 (UTC)
I agree that his edits to your page were vandalism and were dealt with properly. I contend that his edits to his own page were not vandalism and could have been left alone, as reversions like that only serve to raise the antagonism levels. --Uncle Milty (talk) 22:36, 26 December 2008 (UTC)
I'm well aware of the policy in question, and have mentioned it to others on occasion. I would suggest that WP:DENY, WP:RBI, and WP:DFTT are apropos in this case. I am, however, wrong from time to time. In any case, I think you'll find that we think alike in nearly all circumstances of this sort. Acroterion (talk) 23:14, 26 December 2008 (UTC)
