Template:El

I noticed that you created the redirect Template:El to Template:External links.

However EL is the ISO 639-1 language code for Greek so when you put {{el}} in front of a Greek language reference then the External links template box is inserted instead of (in Greek) ({{el icon}}). Would you consider redirecting Template:El to Template:El icon instead?

See the talk page and please reply there if you want to comment. SpeakFree (talk) 12:00, 3 April 2011 (UTC)

Pretending an edit is vandalism

  • WP:NPA - #Accusations about personal behavior that lack evidence.
  • WP:VANDAL - #Vandalism is any addition, removal, or change of content in a deliberate attempt to compromise the integrity of Wikipedia. Examples of typical vandalism are adding irrelevant obscenities and crude humor to a page, illegitimately blanking pages, and inserting patent nonsense into a page.
  • WP:Avoid the word "vandal"

Bearian's edit comment essentially said "reverting vandal" - implying my removal of the See Also link that lacked any external coverage qualifying it to behave like a category (See here, here) is "vandalism" because he doesn't like it.

Can you explain how this is not a personal attack by its very definition? Bulldog123 14:17, 2 April 2011 (UTC)

  • (*sigh*) The gentleman doth protest too much, methinks. Perhaps “revert disruptive edit” would have been more appropriate wording. Inasmuch as Bulldog has a long track record of tendentious editing that is strongly punctuated with…
  1. behavior such as nominating articles for AfDs,
  2. and then tag-bombing articles when the AfDs fail, as well as,
  3. wholesale deletion of material from articles he disapproves of (this being an issue over another one of those), and
  4. since Bulldog knows full well the community has just about reached the end of its rope with someone who is rather inescapably a single-purpose account, (his contributions),
…“vandal” isn’t too far off the mark, IMHO.(Disclaimer)
It also seems to me that bitterly complaining about being the recipient of a personal attack took some hubris since Bulldog appears to have applied the Chicago style of local elections to the practice: engage in personal attacks early and often. Greg L (talk) 22:09, 2 April 2011 (UTC)
Please see WP:SPADE and WP:DUCK. Bulldog123 is plainly a POV pusher, and has a record to prove it. I put my biases and COI right up front. I think he ought to be the subject of a RfC. Bearian (talk) 02:12, 3 April 2011 (UTC)
I've replied at User talk:Bearian#Apology. Let's keep the discussion there. Bulldog123 06:41, 3 April 2011 (UTC)

Bulldog, I did not call you a vandal, I just reverted an edit that was neither vandalism nor an attack. Do not use edit summaries to score points with other editors. If other editors wish to look into this or it is taking to RfC, the related diffs are Bearian's edit Bulldog's revert and my un-revert. Adabow (talk · contribs) 04:33, 3 April 2011 (UTC)

  • But you didn't give a reasoning other than "it was not an attack," even though it was. The original reasoning for removing the link remains and was not even contested by Bearian (though it should have been if he wanted to revert). His claims on the edit summaries were flat-out false. However, if you feel the removal of the See Also link was also not appropriate, you can show me the external coverage for such a category (black Golden Globe nominees) and I'll be receptive to it at Talk:Beyonce Knowles. Bulldog123 06:10, 3 April 2011 (UTC)
      • Bulldog and Bearian asked me to comment also--my reply is on their talk pages. DGG ( talk ) 23:39, 3 April 2011 (UTC)

What happened

To Nathan? I don't get it, it's just so sad :( I was working on some article, I look his contribs up, he is blocked! Novice7 (talk) 05:25, 4 April 2011 (UTC)

Billboard Dead Links

Hi. Can you please explain to me how you fix dead links from Billboard? Jivesh Talk2Me 07:48, 4 April 2011 (UTC)

Thank you Adabow. By the way, the just yell was funny. Jivesh Talk2Me 08:01, 4 April 2011 (UTC)

Okay. Jivesh Talk2Me 09:42, 5 April 2011 (UTC)

Please help me find a reliable source for this.

Beyoncé is currently the only artist in history to have all her studio albums win the Grammy Award for Best Contemporary R&B Album, and debut at the number one spot on the US Billboard 200 throughout her solo music career.

Jivesh Talk2Me 09:42, 6 April 2011 (UTC)

Thank you. Do you think Beyoncé Knowles discography is ready for a FL nomination? I just need to improve the lead. I did the maximum. But i think instead of improving it, i expanded it. Lol. Jivesh Talk2Me 10:20, 6 April 2011 (UTC)

Thank you very much Adabow. You did a great job. Thank you once again. Concerning the removal of those two charts, do you think it is necessary? I mean that Beyonce is an R&B artist and all her singles have very good peaks on those charts. She is also the fifth artist overall to have most US number one dance club songs. Please reply. Jivesh Talk2Me 08:58, 7 April 2011 (UTC)

Oh no Adabow, you explain very well. Listen, i am removing the dance chart. Let the R&B remain at least. I mean all R&B artist (nearly all) have that. Can you please suggest with what chart i can replace the one i am removing. Austria? Jivesh Talk2Me 09:06, 7 April 2011 (UTC)

I will tell you when i finish. Thanks. Jivesh Talk2Me 09:19, 7 April 2011 (UTC)

minus Removed again. Jivesh Talk2Me 09:24, 7 April 2011 (UTC)

Please have a look. I removed the dance chart only, Lil' Unique told to remove one of the three. Jivesh Talk2Me 10:08, 7 April 2011 (UTC)

I see that you have a;ready started the work on Beyonce's videography. I am so happy to be part of such a Wiki-project where people really work to better the Queen B's articles. Lol. Jivesh Talk2Me 10:19, 7 April 2011 (UTC)

Credits

Unfortunately what the author wants and what is allowed are two completely different things. Per WP:MOS subsection WP:CREDITS "Unless relevant to the subject, do not credit the image author or copyright holder in the article. It is assumed that this is not necessary to fulfill attribution requirements of the GFDL or Creative Commons licenses as long as the appropriate credit is on the image description page." The later in bold means that to comply with free images (which is what they are) attribution on the description page is required and not allowed anywhere else. (Reply here, your watchlisted) - (CK)Lakeshade - talk2me - 04:46, 5 April 2011 (UTC)

I think that it is up to the author to decide the form of attribution, but anyway I've left a question at WP:MCQ. It would be much easier if he didn't ask for this.... *sigh* Adabow (talk · contribs) 04:57, 5 April 2011 (UTC)
Yeah i saw the post, and i agree -__- - (CK)Lakeshade - talk2me - 04:59, 5 April 2011 (UTC)
Reply, i believe i was correct, finally we can put this to an end :) Happy editing, talk to you soon. - (CK)Lakeshade - talk2me - 01:04, 7 April 2011 (UTC)

Thank you for your participation in the March 2011 GAN backlog elimination drive

On behalf of User:Wizardman and myself, we would like to take the time and thank you for your contributions made as part of the March 2011 Good articles backlog elimination drive. Awards and barnstars will go out shortly for those who have reviewed a certain number of articles.

During the backlog drive, in the month of March 2011,

  • 522 GA nominations were undertaken.
  • 423 GA nominations passed.
  • 72 GA nominations failed.
  • 27 GA nominations were on hold.

We started the GA backlog elimination drive with 378 GA nominations remaining, with 291 that were not reviewed at all. By 2:00, April 1, 2011, the backlog was at 171 GA nominations, with 100 that were left unreviewed.

At the start of the drive, the oldest unreviewed GA nomination was 101 days (Andrei Kirilenko (politician), at 20 November 2010, reviewed and passed 1 March 2011); at the end of the drive the oldest unreviewed GA nomination was 39 days (Gery Chico, at 24 February 2011, still yet to be reviewed as of this posting).

While we did not achieve the objective of getting the backlog of outstanding GA nominations down to below 50, we reduced the GA backlog by over half. The GA reviews also seemed to be of a higher quality and have consistently led, to say the least, to marginal improvements to those articles (although there were significant improvements to many, even on the some of the nominations that were failed).

If you would like to comment on the drive itself and maybe even make suggestions on how to improve the next one, please make a comment at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Good articles/GAN backlog elimination drives/March 2011#Feedback. Another GA backlog elimination drive is being planned for later this year, tentatively for September or October 2011. Also, if you have any comments or remarks on how to improve the Good article process in general, Wikipedia:WikiProject Good articles can always use some feedback at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Good articles.

Again, on behalf of User:Wizardman and myself, thank you for making the March 2011 GA backlog elimination drive a success.

Ellie Goulding singles discussion

I would appreciate it if you took part in this discussion about the deletion of all of the articles of Ellie Goulding's singles. Thank you so much! nding·start 00:43, 7 April 2011 (UTC)

Beyonce album

No problem. I'm excited too about the album! (: its not that long to go before its June. Have you seen these shoots from her new music video? Ozurbanmusic (talk) 05:43, 4 April 2011 (UTC)

I like the outfit, but she does look old. I hope the video's not cheap. Ozurbanmusic (talk) 05:49, 4 April 2011 (UTC)
Hey I was wandering if I could add this in the sandbox. Its about the music video of the new single. Ozurbanmusic (talk) 22:26, 7 April 2011 (UTC)

Some questions

So, as usual, I have some dumb questions. 1) Ipodnano's page is being reverted by a user stating "he didn't help promote 'White Horse'" (he brought it back from GAR). Is the GA template only used for first nominations and not GAR? 2) Do you know how I can incorporate this and this to an article (Martina McBride – "Teenage Daughters") 3) (OT:) Do you like Taylor Swift? Novice7 (talk) 07:08, 8 April 2011 (UTC)

Some answers to answers :P *)I kinda dropped the idea of FA for the moment. I plan on nominating it later 1) I don't think he added any of the things mentioned on WP:UPNOT. Thanks. 2) Thanks. I like McBride :) 3) I love Swift and "Love Story" too. Also, I love country music (especially McEntire, McBride, Twain, Hill, Shelton and McGraw :P) Novice7 (talk) 07:22, 8 April 2011 (UTC)
Shania Twain is really good. I hope she releases an album soon :( And, see this. This is what I said. GAR is also GA. Novice7 (talk) 07:47, 8 April 2011 (UTC)
I've notified IPN05. I edited his userpage too (to restore and fix a barnstar that I gave). Novice7 (talk) 07:53, 8 April 2011 (UTC)

RE:

Thanks for that tidbit Adabow! And thanks, ughhhh school school school school and its only gonna get worse from here on out. BUt anyway I already know about webcite :) The only problem is the date disappear so quick before I even get to archive :( Haha. Thanks again! Hope all is well! Candyo32 02:15, 9 April 2011 (UTC)

RE:

Sorry, I didn't notice that. But that does seem to go against our policies per WP:CREDITS, so perhaps a discussion is needed as to whether this belongs in the Commons or whether we should ask the author to change their restrictions. –Chase (talk / contribs) 03:07, 9 April 2011 (UTC)

RE: Halo suggestion

It is not a har-place, the main problem is she, really. I don't understand how she ended doing that work. I mean, is not the disruptive editing forbidden? Anyway, I'll try in some weeks. And thanks for the advice but I already knew that. Tbhotch* ۩ ۞ 05:59, 9 April 2011 (UTC)

That's one, but the other problem is she cannot wait for two weeks? C'mon when I nominated 1st Academy Awards I expected a "not promote", but the FL directors waited its respective two weeks and it managed to be featured, Wikipedia won't end for wait that time, but it will end with those DE. Thank you. Tbhotch* ۩ ۞ 06:19, 9 April 2011 (UTC)

Grammy Awards task force?

Hey there! I was wondering if you would have any interest in joining a Grammy Awards task force if I were to start one under WikiProject Awards and prizes. I would love to get some editors together to keep the Grammy lists and articles up-to-date. Please let me know if you would be interested. Thanks! --Another Believer (Talk) 15:19, 8 April 2011 (UTC)

Check it out! There is a lot of work to be done with setting up the project, so feel free to contribute. Hopefully very soon we can begin working together to improve articles and lists. --Another Believer (Talk) 15:39, 9 April 2011 (UTC)

I Am... Sasha Fierce

Hi Adabow. Do you have a copy of the album. The reviewer is telling me to use Template:Cite music release notes for reference #6. But i do not know the location and publisher etc. Jivesh Talk2Me 10:10, 8 April 2011 (UTC)

Thank you very much. You are very reliable. Jivesh Talk2Me 10:37, 8 April 2011 (UTC)

Do you want help with this? Jivesh Talk2Me 13:06, 8 April 2011 (UTC)

I will start most probably tomorrow. I am currently very busy in real life. You must have noticed that i did not edit Wikipedia today in the morning, unlike other days. Jivesh Talk2Me 15:08, 9 April 2011 (UTC)

Should it be mentioned that "Me Myself And I" and "Halo" have alternate videos? Jivesh Talk2Me 10:25, 10 April 2011 (UTC)
Adabow, do you think it will be a good idea to expand the notes next to Beyonce's commercials. Like who directed them and a small synopsis. Jivesh Talk2Me 06:40, 11 April 2011 (UTC)
Okay. Jivesh Talk2Me 06:45, 11 April 2011 (UTC)
What would you consider this to be? Jivesh Talk2Me 08:00, 11 April 2011 (UTC)
Thank you. Jivesh Talk2Me 08:18, 11 April 2011 (UTC)
Do you plan to re-nominate B'Day for GA in the near future? I see that it lacks a lot of things to pass GA. Jivesh Talk2Me 10:53, 11 April 2011 (UTC)
I will be more than happy to help with anything related to Beyonce. If you want, i can format all the references, expand the tour section, composition. Whatever you do not feel like doing, feel free to tell me. I hope you checked latest news related to Beyonce, if not..................... Jivesh Talk2Me 04:59, 12 April 2011 (UTC)
Same here. But not yet published. Jivesh Talk2Me 05:12, 12 April 2011 (UTC)

Okay, then use mine. I have organised the sections. Jivesh Talk2Me 05:28, 12 April 2011 (UTC)
Of Course. Jivesh Talk2Me 05:31, 12 April 2011 (UTC)
I feel like writing a lead for Beyoncé Knowles videography will be challenging. Jivesh Talk2Me 06:10, 12 April 2011 (UTC)
I do not think that i will continue with the videography today. Maybe tomorrow. By the way, don't you think the notes next to each music video can be further expanded? And yes, we have to get someone who writes very good English to help us write the lead. Like Nathan. Jivesh Talk2Me 06:22, 12 April 2011 (UTC)

interview request

Hello, My name is Natalia Ioana Olaru and I am a final year master student in the Corporate Communication programme at the Aarhus School of Business in Denmark. I am currently working on my final paper on the topic of user motivation to create content on collaborative media websites, the focus being Wikipedia. As a sample I chose the English and Danish portals. I would like to invite you for an online interview on the topic of what motivates you, to participate in editing and creating articles for this platform. I plan on doing the actual interviews in the period between 1st and the 15th of May via Skype, MSN or Yahoo Messenger. I am, however, open to other channels of communication too. Please let me know if you would like to participate in this interview and the preferred channel.
