Semi protected pages[edit]

How i can make request on semiprotected pages to add some information or to improve articles Adsmohali (talk) 16:57, 4 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Go to the article's talk page, add a new section, and in the new section put the following above your comment:

{{Edit semi-protected}}

Your comment should have the SPECIFIC change you want. For example: In the section called "Education" please change "Earned a Ph.D. from Hardknoks University in 1990" to "Earned a Ph.D. from Hardknocks University in 1990" because the university's name is misspelled. The correct spelling can be found at http://www.hardknocksuniverity.edu." [note: Don't go there, I just made that web site up for this example]

For more information, please read Template:Edit semi-protected.

I hope this helps. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 01:14, 6 October 2020 (UTC) Thanks buddy @dacidwrAdsmohali (talk) 02:37, 7 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery[edit]

The latest version of your user page sounded familiar. Then I realized why (diff).

If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery then I guess I should be flattered.

However, unless you actually are an "on-again off-again Wikipedia editor who edits mostly here and on the Commons" you might want to change it to reflect what you plan on doing on Wikipedia, or just remove that sentence altogether. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 16:35, 6 October 2020 (UTC) Ok Buddy thanksAdsmohali (talk) 02:39, 7 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Getting people's attention - @ doesn't work like that[edit]

If your goal is to "mention" someone, use {{ping|username goes here}}. You can also use "re" or "reply-to" instead of "ping," they all are aliases to the same thing.

There are other ways to activate the WP:Notifications system, but those are the easiest. If I type {{ping|Adsmohali}} it looks like this on your screen:

@Adsmohali:

You probably noticed that you received two notifications, one because I put a message on your talk page, and one because I "mentioned" you. This "duplication" is one reason you typically do NOT use {{ping}} when addressing someone on their own talk page, since they will already get a notification.

By the way, the ping/mention system only works if you "sign" your message with ~~~~ in the very same edit. It doesn't work if you go back and "fix" your edit later to add the "ping" template. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 13:00, 7 October 2020 (UTC) @Davidwr: love you Davidwr bro you are now my best friend on wikipedia i always thankful to you Adsmohali (talk) 13:14, 7 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

How we can add images in the article's @Davidwr: Adsmohali (talk) 00:24, 8 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

WP:Manual of style#Media files talks about this. It also has links to other documents that may answer your question.
You will probably have other questions as time goes on. A good place to look before asking for help from others is Help:Getting started. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 00:29, 8 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

<gallary> | image = Joginder_SIngh_PVC.jpg | image_size = 250px </gallary> Adsmohali (talk) 15:38, 8 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Please don't attempt to use "non-free" images like File:Joginder_SIngh_PVC.jpg except under the very strict rules outlined in WP:Non free content criteria. If you had been successful, a bot would've come by and removed them. To learn how to use pictures, find an article that already has one and edit the page but do not save/publish any changes. When you are editing the page, you can see how the picture was added. You can then edit your own "sandbox" which is at User:Adsmohali/sandbox to experiment. Again, do NOT use non-free images for testing. All images that are on the Wikimedia Commons are free, or at least they are supposed to be. Non-free images are routinely deleted from the Commons. If you just need an example to play with, File:Example.jpg will do nicely. Please read Help:Pictures for more information on how to use pictures. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 16:28, 8 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Is the PDF online? What is it a PDF of and what is it sourcing, specifically? Praxidicae (talk) 13:04, 8 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

If we have pdf file format as reliable sources or text book in pdf format how we can add as reliable sources Adsmohali (talk) 14:52, 8 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

See WP:Citing sources and treat it as you would if it were printed out. If it's an unpublished work, note that some unpublished works are acceptable, some are not. Examples of hardcopy unpublished works may include things like the personal archives of a famous person held by a university library or similar institution. I say "may" because like any source, these have to be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. A PDF scan of something held in a university library would be treated the same as the original hardcopy as far as citing it goes. The only difference with a PDF is that if the PDF is accessible online, you can and should include the {{{url}}} and {{{accessdate}}} parameters and possibly the {{{archiveurl}}} and {{{archivedate}}} parameters if the URL is archived at a stable, respected web-archive site like archive.org.
Although many citation styles are allowed on Wikipedia, in recent years, the "inline citation" style using templates like {{cite web}}, {{cite book}}, etc. seem to be the most common type. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 16:25, 9 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Live Wallpapers[edit]

How we can add live wallpapers Adsmohali (talk) 14:57, 8 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure what you mean. I assume you mean a picture that is "underneath" text. While there are ways to add a "background image" or "background animated GIF image" to your own user page, it's not commonly done and it may not display correctly in all web browsers. I don't think I've ever seen one in an article, not even in Wallpaper (computing). It's also not a good idea to use one on a discussion page, such as your user talk page, because it can make it hard to pay attention to the conversations. You might enjoy reading Wikipedia:Graphics Lab. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 16:45, 8 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion nomination of CAPT JASBIR SINGH KABERWAL[edit]

Hello Adsmohali,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged CAPT JASBIR SINGH KABERWAL for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly indicate why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Thanks!

Disambiguation link notification for October 28[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Rubella IgG test, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Test. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 06:14, 28 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. This is a notice that Rubella antibody test (disambiguation), a page that you created, has been tagged for deletion. This has been done under two or more of the criteria for speedy deletion, by which pages can be deleted at any time, without discussion. If the page meets any of these strictly-defined criteria, then it may soon be deleted by an administrator. The reasons it has been tagged are:

  • It appears to be a test page. (See section G2 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) Please use the sandbox for any other tests you want to do. Take a look at the welcome page if you would like to learn more about contributing to our encyclopedia.
  • It is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, a "See also" section, book references, category tags, template tags, interwiki links, a rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. (See section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) Wikipedia has standards for the minimum necessary information to be included in short articles; you can see these at Wikipedia:Stub. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Wikipedia and copyright[edit]

Control copyright icon Hello Adsmohali, and welcome to Wikipedia. Your additions to Rubella antibody test have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. (To request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission.) While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • We have strict guidelines on the usage of copyrighted images. Fair use images must meet all ten of the non-free content criteria in order to be used in articles, or they will be deleted. All other images must be made available under a free and open license that allows commercial and derivative reuse to be used on Wikipedia.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into the public domain (PD) or under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. Such a release must be done in a verifiable manner, so that the authority of the person purporting to release the copyright is evidenced. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps in Wikipedia:Translation#How to translate. See also Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. — Diannaa (talk) 13:06, 28 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

October 2020: Please don't copy/paste from cited sources[edit]

When you copy material from a copyrighted source (Dennison) directly into Wikipedia, it violates copyright law. I had to remove your section ("Kambojas as Shudra") from the article Kambojas, and an admin must now WP:Revdel the article's history. It's imperative that editors paraphrase sources in their own original words to avoid copyright violations.--Quisqualis (talk) 18:57, 28 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

How to "ping" on Wikipedia[edit]

The "ping" you tried to do on Talk:Rubella antibody test‎ didn't notify me. Thankfully, I had the page on my WP:Watchlist so I saw your message, eventually.

Please see Wikipedia:Notifications for instructions on how to "ping" people. Ping doesn't work if you don't "sign" your edit with ~~~~. See WP:Signatures for more information on "signing" messages.

Also, templates like {{ping}}, {{re}}, {{U}}, and the like are ignored in edit summaries. {{ping|Davidwr}} will not work in an edit summary, use [[User:Davidwr]] instead. Both work when used in a message.

By the way, avoid excessive pinging in any form. If you know a person has a page on their "watchlist" you can assume they will see changes to it, so there is no need to "ping" them. Notifications are sent automatically if you put a message on another person's talk page, so there is no need to "ping" someone on their own talk page. If you want to do the equivalent of [[User:Davidwr]] without sending a notification, use {{noping}}. They will still be notified if it is a message on their own talk page. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 15:27, 30 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Davidwr: why i am blocked Adsmohali (talk) 02:24, 2 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I am not an administrator, the best I can do is point you to Special:Log. Type User:Adsmohali in the target line and click "show." That will show all log entries affecting your user page and all blocks and unblocks against your account.
I see that an administrator has answered your question. While there are legitimate reasons to use more than one account, most people should edit using only one. The legitimate uses of more than one account are listed in one of the sections of WP:Sockpuppetry. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 03:54, 2 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Davidwr: give me your whatsapp number we never meet again otherwise thx for help brother Adsmohali (talk) 05:20, 2 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

No. I went to the other account user page. I went to the sockpuppet page. The people who do those investigations have a good track record, so I assume that their accusation is accurate. If it isn't, follow the appeal process, don't talk to me about it please. If this had been the first with sockpuppetry, WP:Standard offer would apply. Now you will need to wait at least that long, maybe much longer, without editing at all before you even consider appealing for reinstatement. It would be best for me and probably best for you too if this was our last communication until you are reinstated.
There is hope: In my early years I too abused multiple accounts. I was reinstated after what would be a short time by today's standards, but to this day I am still under what amounts to a topic ban and I have to ask permission if I ever want to have an undisclosed second account. In those years I have made significant contributions to Wikipedia in many areas, putting the interests of Wikipedia above my own. There is more to the story that is, out of necessity, not public, so don't ask. However, by topic ban has actually been good for me in real life. By largely avoiding even reading articles covered by the ban, it's helped keep me away from stress and distractions that would be harmful to my mental health. I'm only telling you this to say that, if you stay away for however long you need to - at least 6 months but probably years - you may be in a position to become a productive Wikipedia editor and in 10 or 15 years you may be telling a similar story to someone else.
Until you are reinstated, it's "goodbye." Please do not reply. Please, please, step away from Wikipedia until you are ready to be a productive editor, and don't come back without following whatever the proper procedure is at the time. If procedures don't change, it will be through the last instruction left on your other account's talk page. But not now. Don't even pester them until the "standard offer" period has past. Because of your long history, if you are wise, you will wait at least twice that long before even asking them how long you need to wait before asking for the "standard offer." In any case, don't ask until you've made up your mind to edit responsibly, then wait another few months just to make sure in your own mind that the change in attitude is "long term." I know from non-Wikipedia, real-life experience that if I don't intentionally stick with a "new habit" or "new mental attitude" for at least a few months, there is at least a 50/50 chance that it won't "stick" and I will "revert to my old ways."
I will be removing this talk page from my watchlist and "muting" you so I will not see your "pings."
Please don't reply and please don't try to communicate with me in any other way until you are reinstated. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 14:05, 2 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Adsmohali, you've been blocked as a sock puppet of Punjabier. You will need to use that account to make any unblocking requests. I looked at the SPI investigation page (Wikipedia:Sockpuppet_investigations/Punjabier/Archive) and it is very unlikely that you will be unblocked. You should stay away from wikipedia for a minimum of six months (no socking) and then, from the Punjabier account, request an unblock. --RegentsPark (comment) 15:55, 5 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

{ping|RegentsPark} i will promise you ,after 6 months you must unblock my account ok Adsmohali (talk) 02:42, 6 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

You're misunderstanding what I'm saying. You have to request unblocking from your Punjabier account. I'm removing talk page access to this account so please use the Punjabier account. That account may request unblocking after a period greater than six months but whether you're unblocked or not depends on the admin who reviews the request. --RegentsPark (comment) 14:35, 6 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
