Why are you replacing jpg images with pngs? As far as I can see this is a gratuitous change and unhelpful as the file sizes are larger. Further, you must not licence them as your own work since they are derivative works of other users. SpinningSpark 20:33, 23 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Replacing jpg images with pngs is standard work in Wikimedia Commons - Welcome - Participate - Contribute your skills - Improve images - Images which should be in PNG format. Please take a look for yourself. I get credit for the image because I converted the original to PNG just like Wikimedia asked me to do. It’s my image, my contribution now. First of all, you are spamming a website, you're taking other people work and claiming it is your own but it isn't. You can't claim to own other people work even by saving it as a png file. Bidgee (talk) 00:00, 24 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Conversion might make some kind of sense for high quality photographs, but it makes no sense at all for diagrams. Converting to png makes things worse. The recommendation if you are going to convert to anything is to svg. But that, of course, would involve you in some real work instead of just stealing someone elses property which is not only against the rules here, but also illegal.
