I'd like to echo that welcome. Hang in there, and we'll sort your initial problems out. I had similar problems when I first started! Andrewa (talk) 23:32, 7 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletions[edit]

Just so you know, you can remove {{Proposed deletion/dated}} tags yourself from any article for any reason. It is good form to address the issues raised in the concern, if they need addressing, but if you feel the deletion is not uncontroversial, then anyone arguing for the deletion should open up a proper discussion where the issues can be debated. wp:PROD has more about proposed deletions. Please provide a link to the specific article or articles, or at least the article title(s), and I'll have a look. I assume deletion has now occurred, which removes all edits to them from your contribution history, but as an admin I can follow a redlink to a deleted article. There may be a case for deletion review, and I'd be happy to show you how to apply for this if so. Andrewa (talk) 23:23, 7 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Conflict of interest[edit]

Although it has not been a problem so far, if you are closely connected with a subject (for example, hypothetically, as the Chief Marketing Officer of a company), it is strongly suggested that you do not edit articles about that subject. You might like to read Wikipedia's conflict of interest guidelines.

If you want to suggest changes to an article, the best thing to do (for future reference, as I said above I know that it has not been an issue up to now!) is to discuss it on the article's talk page, preferably with reliable sources (i.e. not the company's own website(s) or press releases) which are independent of the company and have significant coverage of the company.

Incidentally, if the article about your company is up for deletion, there is nothing to stop you being involved with that discussion (although my advice would be to declare your interest, and if necessary provide reliable independent sources!)
