License tagging for Image:Big-Ben & Palm.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Big-Ben & Palm.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 19:06, 5 September 2007 (UTC)

Offer of help[edit]

Hi Airshipman, I'm an adminstrator here and I want to get involved with the issues that have been raised here. First, it seems that no one has bothered to welcome you here. My apologies for that oversight, I've now dropped a standard welcome message at the top of this page. Second, we have a guideline that states, Please do not bite the newcomers...it looks like that wasn't followed, either. Please don't be too upset. This encyclopedia is a magnet for a lot of companies that want to promote themselves, and we get spammed a lot! Actually, I want to thank you for uploading those images. They are gorgeous, and a valuable contribution to our archives. I have been trying to get the "big boys" like Boeing and Northrop-Grumman to release their PR images with CC and/or GFDL licences, so far to no avail. The fact that you've been so generous with yours is actually very much appreciated by some of us around here, despite the above messages. We have a group around here, WikiProject Aviation which cares for aviation-related articles, and I can easliy speak for them when I invite you to continue uploading such images. They are quite helpful.

Now, let's talk a little bit about why the other folks who've written here have issues with "conflict of interest". We do indeed have a conflict of interest policy, and it does have something to say about editing articls about yourself or your company. Generally that's diecouraged. However, that doesn't mean that you can't participate in the project, and in fact, your expertise is welcomed by the project! For instance, you are more than welcome to edit general articles about the subject, such as airship, as long as those edits don't involve writing about your company in a promotional way. In the article that you did write about your company, you referenced several independent sources...that's actually a very good thing, and it's one of the things that's saving the article from deletion. We require almost all contributions to be sourced, and because of who you are, you are in a great position to have knowledge of sources that others around here might not be aware of. Adding sources to existing articles is an excellent way you can contribute. Anyway, I hope you've not been too discouraged and felt chased away...that's not what we want. Feel free to ask any questions, either here or on my talk page. I check in frequently throughout the day. Blue skies! AKRadeckiSpeaketh 13:57, 10 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The Resilient Barnstar[edit]

The Resilient Barnstar
I award this barnstar to you, Airshipman, for bouncing back from my actions yesterday. I acted with poor, even mean-spirited intentions and you remained cool and yet unrelenting; we need more people like you on Wikipedia. Please accept my sincerest apologies as I extend my gratitude for maintaining your equanimity. Ioeth (talk contribs friendly) 15:45, 10 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have placed speedy keep votes on all of the outstanding Afd/Ifd discussions so that an administrator can close them. You can feel free to remove the deletion notifications from your talk page, here, at any time. Again, I appreciate you maintaining your composure in spite of my actions and apologize for the trouble I've caused you. On a side note, the picture of Soaring Dreams over the Golden Gate is absolutely phenomenal. --Ioeth (talk contribs friendly) 15:45, 10 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Airshipman, with speedy keeps, it is recommended that an administrator, not lowly users like us, handle the changes in the articles. You can modify your talk page, this page, at any time (as it is your talk page), including removing those notifications. Ioeth (talk contribs friendly) 16:10, 10 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've gone ahead and removed the Speedy Deletion notices, since I created them and they were (rightfully) rejected. I'll let you handle the other deletion notices as you see fit. --Ioeth (talk contribs friendly) 16:12, 10 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
