Help re. Ajay Devgan[edit]

{{helpme}}

1) Please help me to add some important and usefull informations to the article Ajay Devgan with evidences because this article contains insufficient and wrong information about the person.

2) Ajay Devgan changed his name from Devgan to Devgn proffesionaly.[1] so please help me to change his name.

Ajaysandy - Thanks for your interest in editing this article.

The following guides will probably be helpful as you look for sources
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:References -->> For how to write out references
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Reference_desk -->> For help in finding references
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Biographies_of_living_persons -->> For how to write a Biography of a living person

The article Ajay Devgan does need references for the asserted facts (for instance, the biographical information needs inline citations http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Inline_citations ). If you need to see some Wikipedia articles that have achieved "Featured Article" status, take a look at: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Featured_articles . Take a close look at any of those articles and see how how much research had to be done, all the inline citations, references, external links the articles contain. That should help point you in the right direction. Good luck with your editing, Shearonink (talk) 18:39, 19 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • All information on biographic articles must have an appropriate reference to a reliable source.
  • If there is something wrong on the article, lacking a reference, it can be removed. See WP:BLP.  Chzz  ►  19:45, 24 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

{{helpme}}|Sir,i am so happy after watching correct name of the article,Next;how can i replace the photo of article Ajay Devgn by a better photo?

We can only use a picture with explicit permission.
If you have your own picture - that you own the copyright to - then you could upload it to Commons, then change the filename used in the article.
If the picture is from elsewhere, we probably cannot use it, unless we can obtain explicit permission; see Wikipedia:Finding images tutorial.
If you need more help with this (perhaps after uploading it), please ask again.  Chzz  ►  20:52, 24 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Hi! Adding to the above: If you have taken a picture yourself, you can use that. If you have a picture taken by someone else you will have to take permission to post it, either in writing or by e-mail.
The person who took the photograph must agree to license the use of the photo to not just Wikipedia, but to one and all under Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike or similar licences.--Forty twoThanks for all the fish! 20:59, 24 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

That permission is not valid.
We need to see permission from the copyright holder - whoever owns the copyright.
The fact that other websites/google use it does not help.
We need firm 'proof' that it is released into the public domain.

File permission problem with File:Ajay Devgn1.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Ajay Devgn1.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.  Chzz  ►  13:41, 26 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Google does NOT provide free use permission with their image search[edit]

Please note that "We know that, on google image search, there is a right to use any image that is published on google.that's why anyone can use these images anywhere." is completely incorrect. Please do not proceed using that faulty premise. Active Banana (talk) 16:11, 26 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

{{helpme}} 1)I am sorry for uploading images without having the knowledge of copyright. 2)Please improve the article Ajay Devgn(as it contains insufficient information) , and expand it like: Jackie Chan and i will provide every information about him with evidences.

No problem about the copyright; I'm glad you understand.
I'd love to help make it as good as the article on Mr. Chan, but you have to accept that there is a lot more coverage of that person in reliable sources than there is for Mr. Devgn. Also, there are 6,825,950 articles, all of which need improvement!
The best way forwards is, if you can find any information in newspaper articles - that is, independent reliable sources - and add those to it.
You could also put in a request for feedback.
Best of all, edit some other articles, and you will soon learn much more about how Wikipedia works, and be in a better position to help improve this one.
I will add this to my 'things to do' list, and try and improve it when I have free time; it is likely to be some time before I can work on it - perhaps a week or more, but I will try to look.
Best of luck,  Chzz  ►  16:57, 26 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Draft of article[edit]

You can create yourself the content that you think should be added to the article by creating a "sandbox" or user page User:Ajaysandy/sandbox. Write the content and appropriate third party sources that you think will be an improvement to the article. Then you can ask on the articles talk page for comments from other editors and if consensus approves, the new and better sourced content can be placed in the article. Note that using the subjects homepage as a "source" should be limited and content should be what mainstream newspapers, regularly published books have stated about the subject. Reference sources must verify claims[edit]

Thank you for adding sources to the article. [2] However, when you add a reference, make sure that the source provides information that actually supports the claim. Box Office India only can verify gross reciepts, so without including Box Office information, placing Box Office India is not appropriate sourcing. A tag has been placed on File:Ajay Devgn.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a non-free image with a clearly invalid licensing tag; or it otherwise fails some part of the non-free content criteria.

If you can find a valid tag that expresses why the image can be used under the fair use guidelines, please replace the current tag with that tag. If no such tag exists, please add the {{non-free fair use in|article name that the image is used in}} tag, along with a brief explanation of why this constitutes fair use of the image. If the image has been deleted, you can re-upload it, but please ensure you place the correct tag on it.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.  Chzz  ►  04:22, 8 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

HELP ME

{{helpme|Sir please replace the current file by just uploaded file;File:Ajay Devgn.jpg}} Ajaysandy (talk) 09:31 08 July,2010 (UTC)

That specific non-free image cannot be used on Wikipedia, because as stated in WP:NONFREE, No free equivalent. Non-free content is used only where no free equivalent is available, or could be created, that would serve the same encyclopedic purpose.
In the case of this living person, it is always possible to obtain a free image, so 'fair use' cannot be applied.  Chzz  ►  04:21, 8 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

{{helpme|please replace the current file by just uploaded file;File:Ajay Devgn01.jpg}} Ajaysandy (talk) 14:57 08 July,2010 (UTC)

Per the above.
In the same policy, it does further explain, in Unacceptable use: Pictures of people still alive, [...] provided that taking a new free picture as a replacement (which is almost always considered possible) would serve the same encyclopedic purpose as the non-free image. This includes non-free promotional images.  Chzz  ►  10:00, 8 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

help me[edit]

{{helpme|sir,how can i edit the upper part of a biography articles?}}

A tag has been placed on File:Ajay Devgn.png requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted images or text borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. help me[edit]

Helpedsir please tell me the process of uploading images from other websites without permision.

Without permission from them, you don't. sonia 04:14, 19 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I would not recommend trying to upload content from other websites without permission unless:
  • You know that it is under a free license (and can provide documentation of that; you should assume it is not free) or
  • You feel there is no alternative, and can justify the use in a specific article (That is, an encyclopedia article, not your user page or a WP policy, guideline, essay or other such thing).
If the first criteria applies, please upload to Wikimedia Commons instead of locally (using the "upload file" link), so sister projects may use the files. If the second criteria applies, use the local (English Wikipedia) "upload file" link (on the sidebar on the left, under "toolbox", assuming you're using the new Vector skin, which is the default). If the image is non-free, you have to include a non-free use rationale, and to include the image on at least one article promptly. --NYKevin @229, i.e. 04:30, 19 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

to upload[edit]

please tell me how to upload image from other websites

In order to upload images from other websites, the images have to either fit the fair use policy or you need to get permission from the copyright holder. It is very important that you do one of the these two things, or else the images are copyright infringement. Once you've made sure that your image either fits fair use, or you have permission, you can upload them here. Be sure to fill out detailed rationales for the images. License tagging for File:Ajay Devgan.JPG[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Ajay Devgan.JPG. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

help me[edit]

sir please revert my test page(User:Ajaysandy/development) by its previous version.

This is something which is easy for you to do:

When you are looking at your User:Ajaysandy/development page, click the "View history" button at the top of the page. This will show you a page called "Revision history of User:Ajaysandy/development", which is a list of all the versions of the article. It includes date, time, size, and which editor made the change.
To see the differences between any two particular versions, click two radio buttons on the left, then click the button labelled "Compare selected versions". This will show you a "diff" (list of differences). You can "revert" to old versions. This is commonly done to repair vandalism.

If you still need me to do it, just reply here. I'll see the request, because it's on my WP:Watchlist. Cheers. --Lexein (talk) 15:30, 26 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
