Wikipedia and copyright[edit]

Hello Ajlf2787! Your additions to Seven Sport have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. We have strict guidelines on the usage of copyrighted images. Fair use images must meet all ten of the non-free content criteria in order to be used in articles, or they will be deleted. To be used on Wikipedia, all other images must be made available under a free and open copyright license that allows commercial and derivative reuse.
If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into either the public domain (PD) or under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. Hi Iruka13

Thanks for contacting me. I retrieved this from a platform very similar to wikipedia - logopedia. I had cited this as the source and what purpose it is used for. There are no other ways to obtain this file/image as most use this source as a means to refer to the past logo of the organisation in question.

i could potentially find an alternative if absolutely necessary, however it is quite hard to locate. Please advise and happy to assist Ajlf2787 (talk) 22:31, 30 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Ajlf2787. We have paragraph 4 of the WP:NFCC, which says that only already published images or works derived from them can be placed on Wikipedia. If you took the file from the Internet, then you should give a link to the page from which you took it. The file/slash image has been derived from works already by the organisation, its just that images of the works are scarce. I can add a link directly to where the image came from as well if needed Ajlf2787 (talk) 22:51, 30 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

It always helps to link to the article, in this case obviously Manly Warringah Sea Eagles. It was the second edit of your eight consecutive edits that messed up the template. I've reverted all the edits, though. I suggest you do them one at a time so you can figure out what you're doing wrong. Or you can just look at the second edit itself (in the history) to sort it out.
