Igor Korolev

Please stop reverting to incorrect information. True, he did obtain Canadian citizenship, but that wasn't until 2000 or 2001. He never played played for Canada, only for USSR/Russia. Just for that fact alone, he should be referred as to Soviet/Russian. It's like calling Jim Belushi an Albanian just because his ancestors were from that country and he had an honourary Albanian citizenship. Norum 07:23, 11 September 2011 (UTC)

Senators new jersey

I was at the unveiling today. It was a free open practice. I had pre-ordered a jersey for my son. It was a nice package. A jersey, toque, scarf and two tickets to an upcoming game for $129. The price went up today to 149. Sigh. It's such an important moneymaker, though, for the team and the players. The 'O' is huge on the jerseys. 2011–12 Lokomotiv Yaroslavl season

Hello! The "Rebuilding the team" section of the 2011–12 Lokomotiv Yaroslavl season article states that "Its participation in the playoffs will be dependent on its winning percentage compared to other teams at the end of the season." 1939 Rangers/Bruins

I see you're shaping up the NHL season articles, and I recalled starting work on the 1939 playoffs. I was really interested in the Rangers/Bruins series that year, because that was the first time in history that a team forced a Gave seven after being down 0-3. Also, Boston's Mel Hill scored a record three OT goals that series. I'm sure you know this. I was just wondering if a 1939 playoffs article should be made, and also if there are any good reading materials regarding that series in particular you may be aware of, or the playoffs in general. Also, I really like this picture here on eBay, and I think it would make a great addition to that article, but I'm not sure how to properly source it. Jmj713 (talk) 20:45, 7 December 2011 (UTC)

Tough call. The original image is definitely public domain due to its age, but the source comes from someone selling the image hard copy, so their copy is definitely not pd. I would contact one of the editors that administer the deletion requests of images here on wikipedia. They ought to be able to give some guidance as it could be an impact on the ebay seller's business. If I were to guess, it could be installed on wikipedia, but not the commons. ʘ alaney2k ʘ (talk) 21:47, 7 December 2011 (UTC)

Commensurability of CPIs

Did you check to ensure that Bank of Canada and Statistics Canada use identical data collection methods and methodologies for monthly CPIs? If so, then an 11 month average is provisionally acceptable, if not, I'd suggest self-reverting on grounds of OR. Fifelfoo (talk) 04:49, 17 January 2012 (UTC)

HHOF dates

I noticed that myself when I was writing the Art Ross article. All the newspapers of the time kept saying he was inducted in 1949, which goes against everything from today. I even emailed the HHOF and got a reply from Phil Pritchard. He gave a really confusing answer that essentially said they were inducted into the International Hockey Hall of Fame, and when the HHOF was made in 1960 they backdated the inductions of those 12 players. It didn't make much sense, so I just left it as it was and kept the 1945 date. Good to see that someone else was willing to further press the HHOF about the issue and get a proper resolution to it all. Kaiser matias (talk) 00:07, 8 February 2012 (UTC)

1938 Euro tour

Hey, I know I asked you in the past about 1938 Detroit Red Wings – Montreal Canadiens European tour but I was just thinking about this article again, and wanting to do the 1959 tour article one of these days, but in all my research I wasn't able to find any roster tables or final stats or anything of the sort. I know you do great research and have rare literature, so I was just wondering if you could add a roster/stats table, just GP, G, A, stuff like that. If it's even possible, that is. They are not mathematically eliminated yet as they can still tie for 8th (based on research; see Talk:2011–12 NHL season); they can (likely will not, but can) still get 87 points and the other teams in 7th and below could all lose them all (with exception of an upcoming Wednesday matchup between two of them which one must win, and I haven't looked for others for simplicity). I have removed your elimination of Anaheim thus. Another editor has explained this before you marked them eliminated (someone else marked them too). CycloneGU (talk) 18:59, 27 March 2012 (UTC)

1886

I remember we discussed this a while back, but I just added some more info for the 1886 Burlington carnival, and the source link I used for the rosters discusses games played by Montreal and the Crystals around the same time. This prompted me again to browse through Google News for the time period, once again in vain. Seems like what newspapers there are for early 1886, they're mostly a jumbled mess. But hockey was still apparently being played, despite the smallpox, and we don't really have any info, which is unfortunate. I'm really curious what was happening then. There really should be an article on the early history of ice hockey with year by year accounts, up to the foundation of the AHAC, since that's when our AHAC season articles begin. I know that some SIHR members are working on a book about early ice hockey. I think it should cover this period. They live in the Montreal area, and must have access to microfilm of old newspapers, plus archives, etc. Montreal would be where the information is. Normally I don't really care about it, but being that it is a team link. That is potentially thousands of edits flooding peoples watch lists. If it was a player or something I wouldn't have said anything. :) As someone else mentioned in that discussion I think that is mostly talking about double redirects. Vezina Trophy

I carefully sourced every line in my last edit of the article and you reverse it because it contradicts with a single newspaper article you found? An article contradicted by multiple other articles and books?

I was shocked to see that the Wikipedia Vezina article indicated that the sets criteria changed in 1946 - I have read numerous articles on the subject from the 1930s that indicate the Trophy was awarded exactly like the HHOF says it was. I provided the cites in my edits

It did change in 1946. The NHL clarified that the trophy would go to the team who played the most for the team with the lowest GAA. That's certainly not controversial. Your own edits point out that it was variously referred to as most valuable and to lowest GAA for the -goaltender- before that. Penguins trades/signings

I reverted your edits as per the disscussion here, the general feeling was that any transactions after the Cup Finals should be listed in the next team season. Your own thoughts were in the same direction. All transactions I reverted occured before the awarding of the Stanley Cup. Looking for assistance

Hi, I hope you don't mind me asking you for some assistance outside our regular hockey work. I know this would be outside your normal editing, and probably outside your interests even, but as you have access to HighBeam, I was hoping you could pull some articles for me on the background of Stephen King's much-publicized (though now mostly inaccessible) exit from his publisher Viking to sign with Simon & Schuster (Scribner) during 1996–97, prior to his 1998 novel Bag of Bones. I started a very bare-bones (pun intended) Background section there, and you can see some of the sources I've been able to find, but most articles I seem to be finding cover just the initial deal or as part of the novel's review. Not sure what your looking for in terms or refenceing the Clarke slash braking Kharlamov's ankle in the Summit Series. I din't find anything that when into great detail about the ankle being broken but I found several references that state it did.

I feel like I've been getting into the middle of arguments here on Wikipedia. There doesn't seem to be much room in the middle here on Wikipedia. I don't know if it is the semi-anonymous nature of the internet or what. But it does not bring out the best in people, I don't think. (People following other person's contrib trail, monitoring their talk pages ... and on ) Maybe we need to reward people more for proposing solutions, instead of spouting rules or rigid viewpoints. I agree that some editing experiences here on Wikipedia can be difficult. I have learned most quickly when I have been opposed and criticized mercilessly. :) But, I have not enjoyed such treatment. Lately, I have been posting my (suggested) edits on an article's talk page and have also focused on developing sources, again on the talk page. If I find a few middle of roaders who like to work and not lord it over others and then we work together on an article, the editing is quite enjoyable. Don River

Hi, noticed your edits on the Don River article. Very good so far but I just corrected the extent of flooding on the Don during Hurricane Hazel. The extent of the flooding you quoted, ie. east to Leslie and west to Bay (prior to construction of the FPL berm on the West Don Lands) was actually the area of the regulatory floodplain. This floodplain was theorized from water flow models that projected the extent of flooding as if the amount of water that fell on the Humber had hit the Don instead. In reality substantially less water fell on the Don during Hazel. This caused some flooding but not so much that it impacted people outside the valley proper. Honestly, I have not followed that. IMO, it remains controversial, but I'm unaware of any rebroadcast. I think that, unless you have a cite to go with the sentence, that RedPen can challenge the sentence under Wiki policy. I do disagree with RedPen, but you do need a cite. I'll do some research. The passage RedPen excised had two references. It had the very funny article from Slate magazine that compared Ford with Diamond Joe Quimby -- which explicitly quoted the "oriental" comment. When I looked for coverage of the Jon Stewart segment I found several, including the Globe and Mail. I chose the article from The Torontoist over more well-known publications because their video clip was unedited -- the whole 6 and a half minutes that The Daily Show broadcast. The "orientals" portion of the video clip starts at about the 49 second mark.

If you have time, I'd be grateful for your opinion on my advice over RedPen's routine practice of making controversial edits that are explained solely in his or her edit summaries. I truly see instances of this practice as a trigger to edit warring.

Thanks for the hard work you have put into the article Alaney2k, and over a long period of time as well. There's a very minor issue (compared to the rest of what's going on) regarding the capitalization of Deco Labels – MOS:TM is clear that we follow standard capitalization even if it goes against the trademark owner's preference; so we don't write TIME for Time magazine, or REALTOR for realtor etc. You cite the company's website but even there, if you check the "About us" section they do not write it in all caps in running text.
