Hello, Alangi Derick,

I wanted to let you know that there's a discussion about whether Wikimedia Community User Group Cameroon should be deleted. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Wikimedia Community User Group Cameroon .

If you're new to the process, articles for deletion is a group discussion (not a vote!) that usually lasts seven days. If you need it, there is a guide on how to contribute. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.

Thanks, 1900toni (talk) 15:52, 16 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks very much 1900toni. It has been resolved. --Alangi Derick (talk) 19:43, 25 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

You have been blocked from editing for a period of 31 hours for persistent vandalism, as you did at President of the United States. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions. If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you may request an unblock by first reading the guide to appealing blocks, then adding the following text to the bottom of your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  Bbb23 (talk) 17:03, 15 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I regained access to my account[edit]

My account was compromised and I contacted Wikimedia Stewards. The account has been reopened and security has been stepped up. This help from Wikimedia Stewards came from @Trijnstel and also got some clarifications and discussion with @Bawolf. I am much grateful to get my account back. --Alangi Derick (talk) 19:45, 25 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Your edits when the account was compromised seemed out of character, although I of course don't know you at all. Take care.--Bbb23 (talk) 19:24, 15 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I am an open source activist and a volunteer software developer at Wikimedia movement. Check this link to know about me a little: My User Page. --Alangi Derick (talk) 19:45, 25 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Oh goody, a techie, someone I can go to when I can't understand something, which in the wiki world happens far more often than I'd like.--Bbb23 (talk) 20:46, 15 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Yes a techie. Hope you know a little about me now. Whats your twitter handle? You can send me an email with the email you see on my talk page and lets get in touch once and for all so we can keep communicating. Thanks --Alangi Derick (talk) 19:45, 25 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Twitter? What's that? --Bbb23 (talk) 00:02, 16 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Twitter is a service for sharing updates and the recent happenings of users around the world. Visit it using Twitter Website. Is there anything you will like to know about it? I can help you on that. Also, my Twitter handle is "@AlangiDerick". --Alangi Derick (talk) 19:45, 25 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
You may need to get used to my sense of humor. I know what Twitter is. I don't have a Twitter account. I don't want a Twitter account. And if I had one, I wouldn't give it out to anyone on Wikipedia.--Bbb23 (talk) 18:05, 16 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I understand you now. :) --Alangi Derick (talk) 19:45, 25 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, I'm Phenolla. I wanted to let you know that I reverted one of your recent contributions —specifically this edit to Design brief— because it did not appear constructive. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you have any questions, you can ask for assistance at the Help Desk. Thanks. —Phenolla ⚫️🔵 12:29, 17 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Phenolla: I think he was removing vandalism with this edit. EclipseDude (talk) 02:22, 20 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@EclipseDude: Yes, I've checked the records just now. That time I was performing a rollback operation, and since the previous vandalism IP was already reported that time (but had not blocked yet), The "Q" button I frequently used for "rollback and warning" in Huggle will not performed the warning operation. And that time this contributor simultaneously did a rollback on that IP vandalizer, so Huggle accidentally rollbacked and warned this user. Sorry for this mistake, I'll change the settings of Huggle to avoid these misoperation. Thank you for reminding me. —Phenolla ⚫️🔵 03:29, 20 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Sure! Thanks everyone. No problem Phenolla for the misoperation. --Alangi Derick (talk) 09:16, 20 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding a recent undo[edit]

Please be more careful with undoing edits which remove content. Double-check to see if the removed content was inappropriate before restoring it. You restored completely unsourced, non-neutral content with this edit to Automotive industry in Germany less than a minute after it was rightfully removed. The content was originally added on August 31. It cited no reliable sources and was most likely written by someone who harbors a serious grievance towards BMW.

I have gone ahead and re-removed that content. Again, please be more careful and double-check edits which remove content before undoing them. There may be a valid reason behind the removal. EclipseDude (talk) 02:20, 20 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks very much EclipseDude. Was in good faith but seems I didn't double check well enough. Will make sure to always double check next time. Thanks! --Alangi Derick (talk) 09:18, 20 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Alangi Derick, regarding Special:Diff/860543872, removing {{AFC submission|||ts=20180909140721|u=JengaMan77|ns=2}} type templates from articles in mainspace is required to get rid of the draft banners. Where you find a edit like this, check the article for potential problems with the article and tag as applicable. Such pages are often unsuitable drafts recently moved by conflict of interest editors. — Frayæ (Talk/Spjall) 11:59, 21 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Frayae: this makes perfect sense. Thanks a lot and yes the revert is okay! --Alangi Derick (talk) 12:03, 21 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, I'm Jschnur. I noticed that you made one or more changes to an article, Gambino crime family, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so! If you need guidance on referencing, please see the referencing for beginners tutorial, or if you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Jschnur (talk) 22:08, 24 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Jschnur, that edit looks okay. from my first look, I though it was a vandal edit but it's a good faith edit. Thanks a lot for catching that :) --Alangi Derick (talk) 07:26, 25 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Alangi Derick, The main problem I had with it was the introduction of a wp:redlink without any explanation. The templated message above should not have been put on your page but the OP of the redlink my bad. Happy editing :-) Jschnur (talk) 21:38, 25 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Jschnur, no problem. I'm making sure to revert only vandals or really bad edits as I also understand enwp policies :). Thanks a lot for the re-notice. In good faith :) --Alangi Derick (talk) 07:56, 26 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
