The article Albert A. Jackson IV has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This was done because the article seemed to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it did not indicate how or why the subject is notable, that is, why an article about that subject should be included in Wikipedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert notability may be deleted at any time. If you can indicate why the subject is really notable, you are free to re-create the article, making sure to cite any verifiable sources.

Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, and for specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Veinor (talk to me) 15:52, 27 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

2001[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, adding content without citing a reliable source, as you did to 2001: A Space Odyssey (film), is not consistent with our policy of verifiability. This is especially important when dealing with biographies of living people. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. If you are already familiar with Wikipedia:Citing sources please take this opportunity to add your original reference to the article. Thank you. —Erik (talkcontrib) - 16:02, 8 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not add commentary or your own personal analysis to Wikipedia articles. Doing so violates Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy and breaches the formal tone expected in an encyclopedia. If you would like to experiment, use the sandbox. Thank you.
Please stop. If you continue to violate Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy by adding commentary and your personal analysis into articles, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. —Erik (talkcontrib) - 14:09, 9 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You need to cite a reliable source in order to verify the information. You may want to take a look at Google Books or Google Scholar to find the citations. —Erik (talkcontrib) - 15:55, 9 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I agreed with my first contribution to that film page being deleted, tho someone who writes better than me should put more material there about Kubrick interest in extraterrestrials with references.

The second deletion about Ordway I still don't agree with, but don't know that to do about it? The reference is on the discussion page but should be somewhere in the main article. Cheers Al Jackson November 19 2008.

Hi there, I've got myself involved in the same questions about the interpretation of "2001" in the past few weeks. There has been fairly heated discussion going on, originally on the movie talk page, and lately on the Talk:Interpretations of 2001: A Space Odyssey page, which I have been struggling to understand and contribute to. I do think the divide here may be between the Clarke fans, who are familiar with his work, and the "WikiCops" who enforce process issues, but may not have much understanding of the topic of an article. Of course these Wiki defenders are essential and I do not want to denigrate their contributions, but the content of an article can get lost in the rules. (I found CE in 1955 when I was 13, and it radically altered my views about a lot of things -- in particular it convinced me that what I might call "fundamentalist atheism" is untenable.) Anyhow, I think it is pathetic that Wiki does not underline the connection to Clarke, and lets these weird interpretations take center stage, when ACC lays it all out in his novel so clearly. Hi, I finally got the Ordway references in and they have stayed, they are legit. There should be a separate page in Wiki for interpretation.

What is weird is that whoever the 'moderator' is, ...well it is weird when someone cites references to quotes from interviews with BOTH Kubrick and Clarke about the film, these are not considered viable! That's is strange. There seems to be no way to exchange email with the WIKI people about this. Ah well come over to the discussion board at IMDB for 2001, some interesting stuff there. Al Jackson
