DeskStation Technology[edit]

I have few questions about the DeskStation Technology article that you started. I have an old device from this company, that i need to get the data off, and it looks like it has proprietory connections. I was wondering if you worked for this company or knew someone who did. Can you please get in touch with me? You can email me from my user page. Thanks a lot. --kunjan1029 01:20, 7 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Unfortunately, I have no contacts with DeskStation Technology... I have an Acer PICA 61 (another ARC Machine) and Byte magazine, describing DeskStation. That's all. Alecv (talk) 16:36, 4 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

File source problem with File:Pentium_OD_166MMX.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Pentium_OD_166MMX.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 18:22, 16 December 2009 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Calliopejen1 (talk) 18:22, 16 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

From the past[edit]

Hello, I am trying to add to some articles on compputer networking technologies. I noticed in Long Reach Ethernet:

CISCO LRE is compatible with VDSL ETSI Band Plan 998.
CISCO LRE uses Infineon PEF88288/PEB22811 VDSL QAM (10Base-S) chipset like many other VDSL concentrators.

Was added back in 2006. diff

Was this from personal memory, or any chance we could add a citation to a source here? One issue is that while working on the Ethernet in the first mile article, sources say that 10Base-S was developed and patented by Infineon and 3Com, not Cisco. So would tend to go with the sources for 10BaseS, but not sure if the Cisco protocol was exactly the same, or had an additional layer, or what. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. W Nowicki (talk) 22:47, 28 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

CISCO used this Infineon's chips as line driver in the master LRE swithc and slave CPE. Furthermore, Cisco 575 CPE worked with third-party master 10BaseS devices. I could try to find a 575 CPE and make a photo of internals. Unfortunately, I can not find any citate in public sources. ; Alecv (talk) 06:22, 30 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the quick response. To be clear, I take it the answer to my question was "yes, from personal memory"? So do you concur with the edits that no longer say it was developed by Cisco, but "marketed" by them? I did find an Infineon news release that says they had a "design win" with Cisco, so that should help verify. But still not sure of the details. For example, if Cisco did more than put them in a box, such as define new aspects of the protocol, e.g. was the same frame format used etc. Also I see presentations from Cisco at the IEEE 802.3ah sessions that use the name "EoVDSL" instead of LRE or 10BaseS. Not sure if this is the same or different. The final PHYs in the spec of course have different specs, which need to be filled out too eventually and I hope merged into the main Ethernet in the first mile article. I can also ping my contacts at Cisco to see if they have any photos they could release. But these could take time. W Nowicki (talk) 18:10, 30 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Alliance Semiconductor[edit]

The article Alliance Semiconductor has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

The coverage (references, external links, etc.) does not seem sufficient to justify this article passing Wikipedia:General notability guideline and the more detailed Wikipedia:Notability (companies) requirement. If you disagree and deprod this, please explain how it meets them on the talk page in the form of "This article meets criteria A and B because..." and ping me back. Thank you,

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
