Separate articles for parties contesting the Sarawak 2016 election

Hi Alexander Iskandar, you have created several separate articles for parties contesting the Sarawak state elections, I feel these articles are unnecessary as we already have the election tables give out the right amount of information - Parti Bansa Dayak Sarawak Baru candidates, 2016 Sarawak state election,State Reform Party candidates, 2016 Sarawak state election. Rather than that we should just use the election results tables as it show who is contesting which seat and from which party. Anyway if you look at those articles some parties are just contesting less than 10 seats, that is insignificant or just overkill in my opinion.Lazybugger13 (talk) 03:26, 2 May 2016 (UTC)in

@Lazybugger13: What is your opinion about this article --> Progressive Conservative Association of Alberta candidates, 2012 Alberta provincial election and all party's election candidates pages in this category --> Category:Alberta general election, 2012. Alexander Iskandar (talk) 03:31, 2 May 2016 (UTC)

Alexander Iskandar, again the article which you used Progressive Conservative Association of Alberta candidates, 2012 Alberta provincial election has that party contesting in closed to 50 seats, whereas in Parti Bansa Dayak Sarawak Baru and State Reform Party you have them contesting just 5 and 11 seats respectively out of 82 seats. Maybe you should merge them, with say Amanah or PAS. Either make an entire new article to combine Amanah, PAS, Parti Bansa Dayak Sarawak Baru and STAR together.Lazybugger13 (talk) 06:06, 2 May 2016 (UTC)

I suggest that we should let it be until the 11th Sarawak state election ended.. Then, after that we can merge all those party's election candidates pages into Candidates of the 2016 Sarawak state election. Alexander Iskandar (talk) 06:12, 2 May 2016 (UTC)

Election Results Sarawak 2016

Hi Alexander Iskandar, I have seen that you have created a new template - . That is fine if you wish to create individual templates for each state constituency. That is a lot of work in my opinion. But for the election results we should keep the election results table as it is following what was used Sarawak_state_election,_2011 and update it from there when the election results come it. In the meantime I have hidden both election results tables until the results come in.Lazybugger13 (talk) 03:00, 2 May 2016 (UTC)

We should change the way we update the election result. We should update election result by constituency one by one in each state constituency article. The readers able to compare the recent election result with past election result in respective constituency.. For example, if readers (especially Opar voters) curious to know the recent result of his constituency, he/she may go to this article --> Opar (state constituency), they can compare with previous election result of Opar. I find it more effective and straight forward. What is your opinion about this? Alexander Iskandar (talk) 03:14, 2 May 2016 (UTC)

Yes, you can check each constituency article for comparison if you like but creating a different election article for each state constituency is a lot of work. If we have all the election results information in one table for the entire state, that is also fine. You can go ahead and create those state constituency results tables, but leave the election results tables alone and don't delete it. Thank you.Lazybugger13 (talk) 03:30, 2 May 2016 (UTC)

@Lazybugger13: Win-win situation.. I let you update the election result in one table in the Sarawak state election, 2016. I just found from your talk page that you contribute a lot about Malaysian election-related pages and templates. I really appreciate about your passion to make something better about Malaysian election-related pages and templates.. We really need to have a good co-operation in this matter. Alexander Iskandar (talk) 03:38, 2 May 2016 (UTC)

@Lazybugger13: Do you think it is a good idea to create WikiProject about Malaysian elections, Malaysian politics, Malaysian governments, Malaysian legislatures, Malaysian legislations?? Alexander Iskandar (talk) 03:43, 2 May 2016 (UTC)

Alexander Iskandar, it is a good idea if you would like to create a WikiProject just for Malaysian elections. Its always best to head to the WikiProject Malaysia and get feedback and see if there are any editors who will volunteer and help with the project.Lazybugger13 (talk) 06:00, 2 May 2016 (UTC)
I don't know why WikiProject Malaysia seems not really active as expected. Maybe, Wikipedia visitors from Malaysia don't really bother to contribute something in this Wikipedia and only be a silent reader and use Wikipedia as their one-stop centre to look for academic references. Alexander Iskandar (talk) 06:04, 2 May 2016 (UTC)

Hi. Pardon me for butting in here, but can I try to contribute with only the hexagons of the Sarawak seats?

If you have no idea what I'm talking about, here's a reference. Hytar (talk) 23:43, 6 May 2016 (UTC)

@Hytar:. Sounds interesting. Alexander Iskandar (talk) 02:01, 7 May 2016 (UTC)

Anyway I'm now rearranging the hexagons, since they have new seats. That will take a while... Hytar (talk) 22:46, 7 May 2016 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Bayan Baru (disambiguation)

The article Bayan Baru (disambiguation) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Unnecessary as this seems to be a case of WP:TWODABS, where a hatnote at the Bayan Baru page serves as disambiguation.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. InsertCleverPhraseHere 04:07, 12 May 2016 (UTC)

Turning it into a redirect seems like a reasonable solution. InsertCleverPhraseHere 05:09, 12 May 2016 (UTC)

@Insertcleverphrasehere:.. Thanks for letting me know about WP:TWODABS policy. Hopefully, bots and other users will differentiate between Malaysian administrative district and Malaysian constituency when they want to insert internal link. I will left to bots or other users to correct the internal links issue, e.g. Gombak District and Gombak (federal constituency) will be linked properly in the related articles. Alexander Iskandar (talk) 05:16, 12 May 2016 (UTC)

Please don't create redirects with "(disambiguation)" in the title that do not target disambiguation pages. Such redirects should only be created for intentional links to disambiguation pages. olderwiser 10:23, 12 May 2016 (UTC)

Disambiguation for parliamentary elections and federal constituencies

Hi Alexander Iskandar, I see you have created numerous articles for federal constituencies - Sungai Besar (federal constituency), Kuala Kangsar (federal constituency) and have added templates to numerous election articles - Permatang Pauh by-election, 2015, Rompin by-election, 2015; suggesting for a merger. The by-elections articles should stay as they are they are political articles and should not be merged and the templates should be removed. While I commend you for creating the various federal constituency articles, you should slowly include links to towns in the constituencies, demographics, transportation, economy, culture and geography. Plus you need to included direct references for these articles for the various subjects. You might need help in getting WP:MALAYSIA guys to help out. In the meantime I have created two new election articles for the 2 upcoming by-elections- Kuala Kangsar by-election, 2016 and Sungai Besar by-election, 2016.Lazybugger13 (talk) 03:20, 28 May 2016 (UTC)

Ethnicity and nationality are two different things. I have changed the categories back for the time being. ... discospinster talk 21:28, 16 April 2017 (UTC)

List of Canadians

Hi there - on your most recent edit to List of Canadians, your edit summary was, "ethno-national group under ethnicity umbrella". What does that mean? How does it relate to a list of people whose family ethnicities include British, French, Irish, Jewish/Israeli, Japanese, Romanian, Ukrainian, Chinese, Persian, Indian, and that's just the first 10 that I found in the list? "Canadian" is not an ethnicity - we are a mosaic of people from all over the world. PKT(alk) 21:12, 16 April 2017 (UTC)

Do you know what is panethnicity concept about? Panethnic group includes diverse populations who have ancestral origins in many places. Not to be confused with Race (human categorization) concept. Alexander Iskandar (talk) 07:47, 17 April 2017 (UTC)

Theoretically, it is possible to group together British Canadian, French Canadian, Irish Canadian as Canadian ethnic group in the United States Census. This applied to Canadian diaspora. Alexander Iskandar (talk) 07:52, 17 April 2017 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nominations

Before nominating any more pages for speedy deletion please read WP:CSD. The criteria listed there are the only ones that should be used. I have declined quite a few of your nominations as they don't fall into one of the listed criteria. ~ GB fan a "frantic, furious ball of anger" 11:14, 17 April 2017 (UTC)

Again, do not nominate any more pages for speedy deletion unless they meet one of the criterion at WP:CSD. ~ GB fan a "frantic, furious ball of anger" 11:42, 17 April 2017 (UTC)

A3 says it does not apply to redirects. Please read the criterion. ~ GB fan a "frantic, furious ball of anger" 11:48, 17 April 2017 (UTC)

Zambian Americans redirected to Category:American people of Zambian descent. Is it good redirect? From article mainspace redirect to category? Alexander Iskandar (talk) 12:02, 17 April 2017 (UTC)

R2 does not apply either as it states that cross space namespace from the main space does not apply to redirects to the category space. I am not making any conclusion as to whether this is a good redirect or not, just evaluating of the page is deletable under a speedy deletion criterion. If you think the page should be deleted take it to WP:RFD. ~ GB fan a "frantic, furious ball of anger" 12:11, 17 April 2017 (UTC)

AfD listings

Hey Alexander Iskandar, not sure if it was you, but because you made the AfDs, I'm going to assume it was you. Just a note that when you make an AfD, you don't copy and paste the contents onto the log. You need to transclude the template by doing this:
{{Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Omani Americans}}

That puts the AfD onto the page:

The following discussion is an archived debate of the proposed deletion of the article below. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on the appropriate discussion page (such as the article's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this page.

  • Delete per nom. What an odd little article, which attests to its own non-notability: "It is certain that Oman has a very small diaspora" -- apparently because of the wonderfulness of staying in Oman. That's fine. No reason at all to have an article though, that I can find. Shawn in Montreal (talk) 18:22, 18 April 2017 (UTC)
  • Delete as non-notable. Sails pretty close to the wind of WP:G11 as an advert for Oman... Cordless Larry (talk) 18:32, 18 April 2017 (UTC)

This is unacceptable. Unilaterally redirecting a page is perfectly fine, as it can be easily overturned if contested. But you can't just appoint yourself the one-man notability police and go around rapidly removing large amounts of articles from this project. You're wholly circumventing deletion process and community consensus and essentially making it impossible for every redirection to be contested and discussed per WP:ATD-R due to the sheer volume of redirects you're creating. What makes this even more problematic is that in practice high schools are usually kept as notable, so the argument for redirecting them isn't necessarily even that strong to begin with. This is disruptive, and this is your last warning. You will be blocked if you continue. Swarm 16:42, 1 May 2017 (UTC)

Moving categories

Hello. You shouldn't move categories other than via the official processes at Wikipedia:Categories for discussion and Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Speedy - there may be reasons why a category is named as it is that aren't obvious to you - and doing it the official way is a lot less effort, as there are bots to do all the hard work! British Council category

Hi Alexander. I saw that you added Refugee Council to Category:British Council, and then noticed that you'd done the same with several other organisations. Unless I'm mistaken, most of them aren't affiliated with the British Council. Could your categorisation have been a mistake? Cordless Larry (talk) 22:29, 5 May 2017 (UTC)

Maybe we should add not to be confused template on the top of page to get rid of confusion. it would be very useful for anyone trying to make any sense of your category changes - to actually add edit summaries, where possible, so that your moving and changes might be understood - as it is, it is difficult in all WP:AGF to understand exactly what you are up to JarrahTree 10:22, 10 May 2017 (UTC)

Hi, I am sure you mean well, but it is better to nominate categories for renaming than simply moving them. Example Category:Fula media to Category:Fula-language media, leaves the content in Fula media. Please check out Wikipedia:Categories for discussion. Tim! (talk) 17:11, 10 May 2017 (UTC)

You had made User:AlexNewArtBot/MalaysiaSearchResult so big that WP:MY is currently under Category:Pages where template include size is exceeded. I hope you feel good for yourself. --QianCheng虔诚 05:18, 12 May 2017 (UTC)

I just noticed that the deletion notice on January 2007 in Oceania points to an altogether different discussion (Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/April 2006 in Malaysia and Singapore). A7 Speedy deletion of films

Do not nominate any more films for speedy deletion using the A7 criterion. I just went through and declined 11 nominations of films that you made. For an article to be speedy deleted using A7 it must be about a real person, individual animal(s), organization, web content or organized event. If the article is not about one of those five limited areas then it can not be speedy deleted using that criterion. Films are not one of the 5 subject areas that are eligible. If you have any questions please ask. ~ GB fan 10:53, 17 May 2017 (UTC)

How to nominate any film for speedy deletion? Under what criterion actually? Alexander Iskandar (talk) 10:57, 17 May 2017 (UTC)

There is no speedy deletion criterion that can be applied to films that do not show a claim to significance. If you do not believe the films are notable you can nominate them for deletion using WP:PROD or WP:AFD. ~ GB fan 11:03, 17 May 2017 (UTC)
Also just declined your two A7 nominations of pages in the Draft namespace. All the speedy deletion criterion that start with A can only be used in the mainspace. They can not be used in the Draft space. If you believe the drafts should be deleted you can nominate them for deletion using WP:MFD. ~ GB fan 11:12, 17 May 2017 (UTC)
A10 begins with an A, so it does not apply to pages in the Draft namespace. ~ GB fan 11:15, 17 May 2017 (UTC)

Is it possible to move those articles with unreferenced tag or notability issue to Draft namespace? Alexander Iskandar (talk) 11:26, 17 May 2017 (UTC)

Without looking at the specific articles you are talking about it is hard to answer the question. ~ GB fan 11:29, 17 May 2017 (UTC)
I see you have added the MFD template to 6 articles but have not completed the nomination process. Click on this WP:MFD#How to list pages for deletion, then click on the "Show" link in the green box. There are three steps listed that you must complete for each one of those MFD nominations. ~ GB fan 11:34, 17 May 2017 (UTC)

Speedy deletion declined: Adira

Hello Alexander Iskandar. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Adira, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: Article claims importance/significance of the subject. Thank you. SoWhy 11:30, 17 May 2017 (UTC)

Answering all of the questions above: Not without consensus. Draftspace is designed to allow page creators to work on it, not to allow admins to bypass the deletion policy. I strongly advise that you familiarize yourself with the relevant policies, especially the speedy deletion policy and the strict and limited scope of WP:CSD#A7. The number of mistakes you have made is staggering for an experienced user. Regards SoWhy 12:24, 17 May 2017 (UTC)

Moving Draft Articles

Why are you moving draft articles to other names within the Draft namespace. The name they are at while a draft doesn't matter much. If the name doesn't correspond to the contents of the article then move it. If it isn't located at a draft name that it would be if it ever gets moved to the main space then leave it be. It does not hurt anything and you are just creating a bunch of unneeded redirects. ~ GB fan 13:55, 17 May 2017 (UTC)

It is necessary to remove honorific from title page. Alexander Iskandar (talk) 13:58, 17 May 2017 (UTC)

It is not necessary to remove the honorific from Drafts. If those were actual articles, then yes, but they aren't articles, they are drafts. Drafts do not need to comply with WP:Title. ~ GB fan 14:01, 17 May 2017 (UTC)

So how to improve those drafts? Just left those draft title with honorific prefix Dr.? Alexander Iskandar (talk) 14:14, 17 May 2017 (UTC)

If you want to improve the Drafts, look for reliable sources, add the reliable sources with content to the draft. Show that they are notable and then move the drafts to an appropriate article title. The Drafts can sit at the name with the honorific, it doesn't make any difference until they are moved to the mainspace. ~ GB fan 14:18, 17 May 2017 (UTC)

Wikipedia:Redirects are cheap. "Redirects are cheap. Redirects take up minimal disk space and use very little bandwidth. Thus, it doesn't really hurt things if there are a few of them scattered around." Deleting a redirect actually adds very slightly to the size of the database (since deleted pages are not really purged from the database, just hidden from public view). Unless a redirect is actively misleading or gets in the way of a pagemove, there is little point in deleting it. What is your opinion? Alexander Iskandar (talk) 14:39, 17 May 2017 (UTC)

Yes they are cheap, but there is no reason to move draft pages from one name to another. No one is suggesting to delete the redirects. I am saying don't make them for no reason. You are moving things that don't need to be moved and creating unnecessary redirects. Find something productive to do. ~ GB fan 14:45, 17 May 2017 (UTC)

No reason? Remove honorific from draft title doesn't really hurt things. Draft redirect take up minimal disk space and use very little bandwidth. Is it wrong to rename draft title? I don't request those drafts to be deleted but renamed them without honorific prefix. Alexander Iskandar (talk) 14:53, 17 May 2017 (UTC)

No one said that moving them hurt anything, I said it was unnecessary and creating a bunch of unneeded redirects. It doesn't hurt to have the honorific in the title of the Draft page either. Unless you can show me where it says that draft pages must comply with WP:TITLE, there is no reason to move them. Moving them just makes extra redirects and extra uneeded edits to the pages and is disruptive. ~ GB fan 15:02, 17 May 2017 (UTC)

Extra redirect = cheap redirect?? Tell me how cheap redirect become harmful and uncontrollable. Alexander Iskandar (talk) 15:21, 17 May 2017 (UTC)

I never said they were harmful. I never said they were uncontrollable. I said the moves were unnecessary and they created unneeded redirects. Unless you can point to something that says they should be moved to a new name without the honorifics, don't move them. ~ GB fan 15:26, 17 May 2017 (UTC)

I am sorry for the inconvenience to you, GB fan. After arguing with you about moving drafts, I learnt that moving drafts are not same like moving articles. Draft namespace is different from article namespace, so WP:TITLE is not necessarily applied to draft project. I know some drafts only exist temporarily and may be deleted soon due to unencyclopedic content. I also found many drafts left abandoned more than 6 month with no obvious effort by editors to add reliable sources. I decided to just add template db-g13 when possible and let other admins make a decision what to do next. Another problems about drafts will be handled by another enthusiast Wikipedia editors. By the way, sorry for my troublesome behaviours. Alexander Iskandar (talk) 18:24, 17 May 2017 (UTC)

It is OK. ~ GB fan 18:58, 17 May 2017 (UTC)

Am I doing the right action to add template db-g13? Alexander Iskandar (talk) 18:59, 17 May 2017 (UTC)

You are close. Two things. First the criterion has a couple of stipulations. The first thing you have got it right, it must have not been edited in over six months. The second part is where you need to look a little closer. The criterion says "This criterion applies to draft articles in the draft namespace or userspace that are using the project's {{AFC submission}} template." When I saw your question, I went to your contributions and the first one I pulled up was Draft:Dr. David Suzuki Public School Wilderness Reserve. This does not have the template on on it, so it is not eligible for G13 speedy deletion. The other thing you should look at is the something I mentioned earlier. There is an extra parameter in Template:Db-g13. If you click the link, it will take you to the template. The usage section explains how to manually nominate a Draft for deletion using G-13. ~ GB fan 19:19, 17 May 2017 (UTC)

Draft:Dr. David Suzuki Public School Wilderness Reserve does not have {{AFC submission}} so I learnt that it is not eligible for G13 speedy deletion yet. Alexander Iskandar (talk) 19:24, 17 May 2017 (UTC)

This draft may meet Wikipedia's criteria for speedy deletion as a rejected or unsubmitted Articles for Creation page that has not been edited in over six months (excluding bot edits). This applies to all pages that contain an Articles for Creation template, in draft namespace or userspace. See CSD G13. Alexander Iskandar (talk)

What is your opinion about moving Draft:Dr. Peter Aiken to Draft:Peter Aiken? It is done by Dodger67 on 12:43, 4 January 2017‎ (UTC) based on revision history. Alexander Iskandar (talk) 20:28, 17 May 2017 (UTC)

Speedy G13 deletions

First of all, thank you for your editing here. I note that you are nominating some draft articles for G13 speedy deletion, and to date your selection of articles is correct; but your nomination procedure is not. The template, correctly used, shows the date of last edit . To see how to do this, please follow the instructions laid down in template {{db-g13}}.--Anthony Bradbury"talk" 21:41, 17 May 2017 (UTC)

Further to my previous post, I have now found some drafts that you have nominated too early. The six-month limit may not be shortened for a G13 nomination. Please be more careful. We as admins have enough to do without having unnecessary work created for us.--Anthony Bradbury"talk" 21:48, 17 May 2017 (UTC)
I have now worked through all of your g13 tags currently on display. I have removed eight as being incorrect; two more I left because they reach the six-month mark within the next 48 hours. the rest - less than one third - I have actioned. Please, if you wish to make these nomib=nations, get the procedure right. The last edit must be no less than 6 months ago, and the article must contain an AfC template.--Anthony Bradbury"talk" 22:11, 17 May 2017 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Paul Moss

Hello, I have removed the proposed deletion tag you placed on Paul Moss. This article was discussed at Articles for deletion in 2005 and is therefore permanently ineligible for deletion under the proposed deletion process. I did this for procedural reasons only, and have no comment one way or the other on the merits of the deletion nomination. If you still wish to pursue deletion, please open another AfD discussion. Thanks, —KuyaBriBriTalk 00:16, 18 May 2017 (UTC)

Hafiz (Malaysian singer)

You seem to have mistakenly placed a PROD tag on an article which was not eligible. I have removed it and explained why on the talk page. If you still believe that the article is eligible for deletion, you will need to use the WP:AFD procedure, although I personally believe you would be wasting your time. Please read the message I've left you on the article's talk page and readjust your current editing practices. Thank you. — Tuxipεdia(talk) 08:37, 18 May 2017 (UTC)

Final warning : No more speedy tagging

I'm afraid I have seen you make too many mistakes in CSD tagging, as have other administrators, so this is a warning that the next time I see a speedy tag declined by an administrator (either me or somebody else), I will be forced to block you from editing to avoid disruption. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 10:29, 18 May 2017 (UTC)

I have removed your PROD from Jamal Abdillah. Your rationale was that the article was largely unsourced. It is an article of 6 sentences with 5 sources. That appears to be a valid number of sources for the length of the article. ~ GB fan 10:42, 18 May 2017 (UTC)

Another one, Noraniza Idris. She has won 12 awards. While there may not be much sourcing in the article this is definitely not a non-controversial deletion. The only time a PROD should be used is if the deletion is non-controversial. ~ GB fan 10:50, 18 May 2017 (UTC)

Nicestupidplayground, how is this a largely unsourced BLP? It is an article about a band. It looks like you just copied and pasted a rationalle and started slapping it on articles. ~ GB fan 11:08, 18 May 2017 (UTC)

Ditto for Danny Choo. I have no prejudice against nominating this article at AfD but it will have to be under some other valid deletion rationale. —KuyaBriBriTalk 14:10, 18 May 2017 (UTC)

Decline reason:

I have looked carefully through your edits and the disruption caused clearly crosses the line dividing bad editing from vandalism. Take your redirecting of high school articles, for example. I note that you were redirecting up to three pages a minute, plainly using some type of automated tool. There could have been no effort, because there was no time so to do, to check the articles or to search for sources. These edits are taking countless person hours to revert and the likelihood is that damage will still remain after most of your redirects have been reverted. I see no offer from you to help revert and repair the damage you have caused. I can see no benefit to the Project, and plenty of potential downside, in your being unblocked. Just Chilling (talk) 23:38, 24 May 2017 (UTC)

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Your moves of articles to draft may have been the last thing, but you have been showing competence problems for a while. You were moving Drafts around. You been told to stay away from speedy deletions because you do not understand the criteria. Many of your Prods have been declined because they are not non-controversial. Now you want to nominate articles using WP:AFD? Have you even looked at the deletion policy? I do not believe unblocking you would be a benefit to the encyclopedia. I think we will be back here in a very short time. ~ GB fan 23:07, 20 May 2017 (UTC)
While I was writing that comment another AFC submission you made was declined. You did no work to fix the issues that had been identified by previous reviewers but resbmitted it any way. Did you really believe it was ready to be an article? ~ GB fan 23:11, 20 May 2017 (UTC)
I should withdraw my AFC submission. Those drafts are not ready to be Wikipedia stand-alone article. Don't have enough reliable sources for verification and non-notable yet. Draft:KEN Holdings Berhad, Draft:CDC Malaysia. Alexander Iskandar (talk) 03:52, 21 May 2017 (UTC)
When I scroll up this talk page today, I see your replies to my questions about moving article to draft namespace. Thanks for replying. Alexander Iskandar (talk) 03:52, 21 May 2017 (UTC)

Thanks for admins for providing explaination in edit summary and this talk page. I should understand which action is eligible/allowable/permitted and which action is not eligible/not allowable/not permitted. Below is my response to your advices:

  • I agree that Wikipedia is encyclopedia project. Discussion and communication with other editors is important to achieve consensus.
  • Why I made decision to move article to the draft namespace? I believe draft namespace is suitable for collaborative improvement. When they are ready with reliable sources and showing notability, then those drafts are eligible for AfC submission.
    • I quoted from Template:New page, "This page was just created. Its author is familiar with Wikipedia's inclusion guidelines and has done so in good faith. More editing may be needed to meet standards. Please do not rush to mark it for deletion, but check back in a while and/or contact the creator to ascertain his/her plans. If the creator has abandoned work on this page and is not responding to communication, you may consider deleting it or moving it to the draft namespace for collaborative improvement."
    • However, I misunderstood this good faith also applied to articles created before 2015 which are left abandoned by creators, lacking citation needed for verification, showing no improvement by creators and other editors.
  • Many Malaysia-related articles have been tagged BLP sources many years ago, some have been tagged since 2007, 10 years ago. I quoted from Template:BLP sources, "This biography of a living person needs additional citations for verification. Please help by adding reliable sources. Contentious material about living persons that is unsourced or poorly sourced must be removed immediately, especially if potentially libelous or harmful."
  • Wikipedia accept neutral point of view. How we define neutral point of view? Neutral point of view don't praise or exaggerate something, someone without acceptable proof. Advertising and promotional materials usually manipulating readers from truth. I quoted from Template:Fanpov, "This article may be written from a fan's point of view, rather than a neutral point of view." Alexander Iskandar (talk) 08:55, 21 May 2017 (UTC)
You are very good at finding quotes from pages in the Wikipedia namespace. What you appear to have a problem with is being able to take those quotes and understand how to apply them to editing pages in Wikipedia. We had a discussion above where I had to block you to get you to talk. You pulled out quotes but did not understand when and how they apply. ABove you ask for clarification on the "policy" Redirects are Cheap. You don't seem to understand that is an essay not a policy. I don't think you understand the difference between the two of them either. ~ GB fan 16:31, 21 May 2017 (UTC)

I agree that Wikipedia:Redirects are cheap is essay. This essay is always used as a reason to keep redirects (with typo and honorific title) in Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion. Please see this link --> Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion/Log/2016 April 18#"Tan Sri" redirects and Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion/Log/2016 April 18#"Datuk" redirects. Alexander Iskandar (talk) 16:41, 21 May 2017 (UTC)

I understand what is my mistake. Point #3 in the Wikipedia:Redirects are cheap. "On the other hand, cross-namespace redirects make processing Wikipedia content more complex for bots and scripts." Now I know why cross-namespace redirects is disruptive editing and considered as serious and vandalism by admins. It involves technical issue. Cross-namespace redirect is different than keeping or deleting redirect. Alexander Iskandar (talk) 16:57, 21 May 2017 (UTC)

I realise that draftifying is applied to new articles (created in this year 2017) and requires discussion and communication with creators and other active editors. I'm sorry for being too bold in this case. According to Wikipedia:Be bold, Wikipedia community encourages users to be bold when updating the encyclopedia. Sometimes, Wikipedia volunteers is expected to be bold but when conflicts and arguments arises, proper discussion is expected.

As an experienced Wikipedia contributor and volunteer, I have common objectives just like other admins and other active contributors and volunteers, to make Wikipedia a better encyclopedia. If conflict arises because of controversial issues, then it should be discussed and cooperation is expected to achieve general agreement or consensus. Wikipedia:Ignore all rules policy sometimes made things becomes complicated. I respect other admin's commitment to spend their time to revert my inappropriate edits, give explanation in edit summary, give useful advices, suggestions, reminders and warnings in my talk page. I also want to give credits, to acknowledge, and to recognize other active editors who give good cooperation with me since I start editing (especially about Malaysia-related articles, politics-related articles, election-related articles) in this English Wikipedia. I know this block is not punishment but the way to prevent harm and problem to Wikipedia. Alexander Iskandar (talk) 18:20, 21 May 2017 (UTC)

@Kurykh: I accept that the discussion outcome was "delete. There hasn't been an articulated reason to merge these articles, while there has been one for deletion." Mass deletion involving MM YYYY in Country/Topic already happened. In case any editors want to merge content from deleted monthly articles into annual articles, they may ask admins and using correct procedure to appeal. I don't move those articles to draft namespace, but I did correct procedure by asking other editor's opinion using AfD discussion platform instead.

I made my mistake last week by making controversial draftifying many Malaysian entertainers-related articles without using AfD discussion platform, WikiProject Actors and Filmmakers talk page, WikiProject Musicians talk page, WikiProject Entertainment talk page. I also made my mistake last week by nominating speedy deletion using invalid criterion, nominating proposed deletion to controversial articles involving Malaysian entertainers-related articles. I also made my mistake last month by making controversial mass redirects involving Malaysian secondary schools without using discussion plattform like AfD, RfD or WikiProject Schools talk page. I realize that discussion is important in Wikipedia if involving mass redirect, mass delete, mass anything else to reach general agreement or consensus by Wikipedia community. I realize that @Just Chilling: already declined my unblock request, so I do not plan to request unblock at this moment, may be next month is appropriate. @Anthony Bradbury:@Primefac: I aware that you don't promise me to unblock me by asking that question. When time is appropriate, I will asking unblock request and contributing back to Wikipedia and follow Wikipedia policies and guidelines. Malaysian school-related articles controversial mass redirects

@Just Chilling: I know that I have made a lot of controversial redirects to Malaysian school-related articles without proper discussion. You and other editors may revert my edits to Malaysian school-related articles. Secondary schools generally assumed to be notable to have Wikipedia stand-alone articles, although at this moment, many Malaysian school-related articles lacking reliable sources and independent secondary sources, and many depends on primary sources (respective school website, looks like advertisement and promotional material if secondary sources are not provided to support available school website sources for verification purposes). Actually I want to revert my edits because those schools being redirected to list of schools in X without proper discussion. Since I'm still unblocked yet, any editor may check those page links (Special:WhatLinksHere) below to revert my controversial redirects to list of schools in X after that you may left those school articles with unreferenced tag, refimprove tag, notability tag, NPOV tag, cleanup tag, violation of WP:NOTADVERTISEMENT, violation of WP:NOTDIRECTORY, violation of WP:LINKFARM, violation of WP:NOTGALLERY, WP:NOTSOCIALNETWORK, WP:CRYSTALBALL as Wikipedia stand-alone articles which can be easily accessed by readers using Google search engine. I understand that the creators can easily create a lot of those school-related articles and easily left abandoned those articles many years and those school-related articles still unimproved till now. X refers to Malaysian states and federal territories. Alexander Iskandar (talk) 04:11, 25 May 2017 (UTC)

@Just Chilling: I appreciate your great deal of efforts and spending your precious time to mass revert my edits to Malaysian school-related articles. What's to do next after mass revert those articles. I hope you and other editors will collaborate to improve those articles by adding reliable sources, independent third-party sources and do not depends solely on primary sources which is respective school website. WP:NOTADVERTISEMENT and WP:NOTDIRECTORY. You and other editors may check page history and communicate with those school-related article creators about how to improve those articles. Our common objective are to make Wikipedia a better encyclopedia. I hope those articles may have reliable sources and useful to readers when they search about the school in the Google search engine. Alexander Iskandar (talk) 06:49, 25 May 2017 (UTC)

@Just Chilling: You can check page history of articles in the Category:Boys' schools in Malaysia and Category:Girls' schools in Malaysia, I put an effort to add this link Kecemerlangan sekolah satu gender as published in the independent reliable source, Utusan Online (not official website) to verify if those schools are notable single-sex schools. By the way, I see your continuous efforts to revert my undiscussed and controversial mass redirects. I don't recommend those articles lacking reliable sources to be deleted using AfD because I appreciate a great deal of efforts by past creators, editors and volunteers contributing to those articles. However, we cannot let those articles lacking reliable sources and may contained disputed information to be remained as Wikipedia stand-alone article because those articles may be viewed by any readers any time if they searched those schools using search engine including Google. Is it useful for readers to read articles with unverified information and no reliable source to verify those informations? I learnt that at this moment Wikipedia cannot accept draftifying articles and mass-redirect articles to draft namespace is disruptive. I aware that although those articles may be deleted by admins, future editors may appeal to restore those deleted articles and start improving those articles. I understand that either keep or delete, either redirect or delete, either inclusionist or deletionist, but not either delete or draft. I know that my controversial mass redirect issue started since last month, April 2017, although I start editing in Wikipedia two years ago. Alexander Iskandar (talk) 13:55, 25 May 2017 (UTC)

After checking Special:WhatLinksHere, I found a few articles still being redirected to List of schools in X and I request that it should be reverted to previous edits if possible.

Below are list of primary schools in Malaysia:

I actually planned to insert Template:Under construction above all list of schools in Malaysian states. Since I already blocked because of draftifying, nominating speedy deletion without valid criterion, nominating proposed deletion to disputed Malaysian entertainer-related articles and also do not revert all my controversial mass-redirect. I have difficult time to work my plan.

I would like to suggest and recommend this information pages, WP:PERENNIAL to be read by anyone who have doubt and unfamiliar with Wikipedia (including me). This page records the list of rejected proposals with reasons on why those proposals were declined by the community. This page also highlighted the phrase consensus can change when situation is favorable. Alexander Iskandar (talk) 17:07, 22 May 2017 (UTC)

Hello @Biblioworm:, your proposal Wikipedia:WikiProject Reforming Wikipedia/Draftifying have long-term benefits for Wikipedia. It is not good and fair to WP:BITE the newcomers/regular editors by deleting their non-notable articles (including articles without or lacking reliable sources/independent secondary sources) as they really spend a lot of valuable time and a great deal of efforts. I quoted from this proposal, "Basically, all general CSD criteria would still be valid reasons for immediate deletion. We would draftify articles that meet current CSD criteria A1, A3, A7, and A9. These "criteria for speedy deletion" would become "criteria for speedy draftification." However, any article that meets criteria A2, A5, A10, and A11 would be speedily deleted as usual. To encapsulate, all general CSD criteria, as well as the A2, A5, A10, and A11 criteria, would remain valid reasons for speedy deletion. A1, A3, A7, and A9 would no longer be valid reasons for speedy deletion, but they would become valid reasons to immediately draftify an article." I also quoted from this proposal, "...(Consider the fact that the Twitter article was initially tagged for speedy deletion per A7. It is now a good article.)..." I know this proposal is not a Wikipedia policy yet and should be discussed and negotiated in WP:GOODFAITH to achieve consensus by Wikipedia community. Consensus is important in Wikipedia.

I quote from WP:BITE, "Wikipedia articles are improved through the hard work of both regular editors and newcomers. Remember: all of us were new editors at Wikipedia once, and in some ways (such as when editing an article on a topic outside our usual scope) even the most experienced among us are still newcomers.

New members are prospective contributors and are therefore Wikipedia's most valuable resource. We must treat newcomers with kindness and patience—nothing scares potentially valuable contributors away faster than hostility. It is very unlikely for a newcomer to be completely familiar with Wikipedia's markup language and its myriad policies, guidelines, and community standards when they start editing. Even the most experienced editors may need a gentle reminder from time to time."

I should avoid making a mess/clutter/chaos of speedy deletion nominations, proposed deletion nominations, article moves and redirects. I should read carefully Wikipedia:Arguments to avoid in deletion discussions, Wikipedia:Arguments to make in deletion discussions, Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Common outcomes, Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion/Common outcomes, Wikipedia:Notability. Admins, please consider my unblock request as soon as possible. Best regards. @Primefac:@GB fan:@Just Chilling:@SoWhy:@Anthony Bradbury:@Ritchie333: Alexander Iskandar (talk) 17:22, 24 May 2017 (UTC)

@Burning Pillar: Wikipedia:Village pump (policy) § Delete unreferenced articles. Alexander Iskandar (talk) 19:10, 24 May 2017 (UTC)

Please do not take this question as being any sort of unblock promise. If you were to be unblocked would you agree to limit your editing only to article space, either improving or creating articles, and talk page comments or suggestions?--Anthony Bradbury"talk" 20:27, 24 May 2017 (UTC)

@Anthony Bradbury: I agree to limit my editing to article space, either improving or creating articles, and talk page comments or suggestions. I know that I have made a significant mess of Speedy deletion nominations, proposed deletion nominations, article moves and cross-namespace redirects (from article namespace to draft namespace). Let me quote from Wikipedia:Competence is required, "Where we often see big controversies, though, is with editors who are unintentionally and often unknowingly disruptive while trying to help. This is where we sometimes see an unintended side effect of our (generally quite useful) notion of assuming good faith. Many editors have focused so much on this tenet that they have come to believe that good faith is all that is required to be a useful contributor. Sadly, this is not the case at all. Competence is required as well. A mess created in a sincere effort to help is still a mess.

Clearly, every editor is incompetent when doing some types of edits in certain subject areas, so it is important to know or discover your limitations." Alexander Iskandar (talk) 04:11, 25 May 2017 (UTC)

User:Anthony Bradbury would it not be better to just limit them from the area that they were being disruptive in? So only excluding them from drafts, proposing deletions of any form, and redirects without going through redirects for discussion. Perhaps there could even be a thing where they have to get admin approval to nominate something for deletion. I looked over their contributions and aside from this automated disruption--which indeed wasted lots of volunteer hours fixing, it appears they are a good contributor to articles with movies, music, etc, with categorizing with Hotcat as well as others. So if you need specifics in terms of duration, I think a year would be fine. Also Alexander Iskandar, no, every editor is not incompetent when doing some types of edits in certain subject areas. If you feel as though you're not sure about something, look at the reliable sources, follow procedures, ask questions. There is no deadline. No need to be "quick" about edits unless reverting blatant vandalism. Tutelary (talk) 14:11, 25 May 2017 (UTC)

Mass cross-namespace redirects and PROD nominations by Alexander Iskandar: Page history analysis

@Primefac: insert "over a redirect without leaving a redirect: vandalous edit" inside edit summary when they revert my mass cross-namespace redirects

@Chrissymad: insert "Last good (TW)" and "rmv vandalism" inside edit summary when they revert to previous edit before me

@SoWhy: insert "over a redirect without leaving a redirect: unexplained move of article to draft space without consensus" inside edit summary when they revert my mass cross-namespace redirects

Comments

  • I found similarities on most of the articles listed above, such as having dead links, needing rescues by InternetArchiveBot, lacking reliable sources, most depend on primary articles (personal websites and self-published sources), creating by single-purpose account WP:SPA, those articles have long history of neutral point of view issues and written from fan's point of view. Looks trivial content dominating article rather than encyclopedic content. Editors should be aware that they volunteer themselves to contribute for a better encyclopedia.
  • I understand that a big number of those articles already exist since 2000s. WP:SILENCE after many years signify its importance to exist as independent Wikipedia stand-alone article. Those articles have long history of contributors, so it is controversial to nominate those articles using CSD and PROD nominations. It is a diplomatic way to use AfD platform to reach consensus either keep, merge or delete.
  • Based on my user contribution, I started to made a mass cross-namespace redirects since 20:33, 20 May 2017 (UTC). The first article involved was Remnant (band).
  • Before that, I made useful contributions by categorising those musical groups into specific musical group by genre categories based on infobox. I also done categorising those singers into specific singer by genre categories based on infobox. I categorising actors and actressess into specific production house's contract player categories earlier.
  • Before I got involved into mass cross-namespace redirects like this, I made mistakes by renaming drafts when I see something wrong with draft page title. I already being warned by @GB fan: that moving around draft namespace without discussion is disruptive and may cause unnecessary redirect, later I was blocked for three hours. Then, I stop renaming drafts and let it be with all capital letters, typo error and all that silly problem. I learnt that renaming drafts do not matters when drafts are in progress. What matters are those drafts being submitted for AfC to be reviewed by listed AfC reviewers. Only then, when those AfC submission being accepted, renaming drafts is necessary to follow article naming standard policy.
  • I also made MfD nominations involving many drafts. I see some drafts should be redirected to existing article namespace. Is it true that both Category:AfC submissions declined as already existing‎ and Category:AfC submissions declined as a duplicate‎ should always be empty because they should be redirected automatically to existing article namespace since the reviewer already decide to decline AFC submission using these specific reasons.
  • Last month, I made mass-redirect involving Malaysian school-related articles without proper discussion. Alexander Iskandar (talk) 23:37, 25 May 2017 (UTC)

Hello @Primefac:@Chrissymad:@SoWhy:@GB fan:@Just Chilling:@Anthony Bradbury:@Kuyabribri:@Tuxipedia:@Ritchie333: (Thanks for your previous messages in my talk page, I hope you still watch my talk page and have time to discuss with me here). May I ask question about cross-namespace redirect? Based on WP:R2, let me quote, "This applies to Redirects, apart from shortcuts, from the main namespace to any other namespace except the Category:, Template:, Wikipedia:, Help: and Portal: namespaces.

If the redirect was the result of a page move, consider waiting a day or two before deleting the redirect. See also Wikipedia:Cross-namespace redirects and Category:Cross-namespace redirects."

{{Db-r2}}, {{Db-rediruser}}

Is it true that {{Db-r2}} can be placed inside article namespace after redirecting article to draft namespace only after reach consensus in AfD/RfD/MfD discussion? Let say before this I did not make an undiscussed cross-namespace redirect Farah Asyikin Zulkifli to Draft:Farah Asyikin Zulkifli but I nominate Farah Asyikin Zulkifli (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) to AfD/RfD/MfD instead. After that the result outcome may be keep with the reason, Farah Asyikin Zulkifli is notable enough to have Wikipedia stand-alone article although the articles has no reliable source yet. Some users/inclusionists may argue claiming WP:MUSTBESOURCES. Some deletionists may suggesting deletion and said other editors can appeal to undelete in future. Another user may comment WP:USERFY to the creator's user page but the creator @Horacenew: inactive since 2007. Another choice seldom used by AfD participants is WP:DRAFTIFY. Draftification as a solution in AfD is the main idea in the Wikipedia:WikiProject Reforming Wikipedia/Draftifying proposed by @Biblioworm: in July 2016. I do not know why no editors open discussion in the talk page. Please let me know what do you think about draftifying. Alexander Iskandar (talk) 10:57, 27 May 2017 (UTC)

When I check my AfD stats, I see Number of AfD's where vote matched result (green cells): 10 (62.5%). I aware that there are nine type of possible votes in AfD: Abbreviation key: K = Keep D = Delete SK = Speedy Keep SD = Speedy Delete M = Merge R = Redirect T = Transwiki U = Userfy/Draftify NC = No Consensus Alexander Iskandar (talk) 11:07, 27 May 2017 (UTC)

I think you need to get your thoughts in order, because I can barely understand that paragraph. You started off asking about {{db-r2}}, never actually asked a question, then started talking about a hypothetical AFD (again, no question) and finished off by transitioning to your AFD stats (still no question). Do you actually have a question or are you simply trying to "prove" that you're competent enough to continue working productively on Wikipedia?
Also, as a note, the people who are interested in this case will already be watching the page. You don't need to send out a dozen pings every time you post. Primefac (talk) 12:19, 27 May 2017 (UTC)

I admit that I made a lot of mistakes about mass redirect without proper discussion since April 2017 (please check my user contribution). I did not simply redirect all Malaysian schools to list of schools in X but I choose only articles lacking reliable sources. @Just Chilling: cannot accept my undiscussed mass redirect and already reverted my redirect to previous revisions. I respect him and avoid edit warring because I understand WP:3RR. Actually I plan to insert {{under construction}} above all list of schools in X. X refers to Malaysian states and federal territories. I also plan to revert my undiscussed mass redirect to hundreds of Malaysian schools. I forgot to revert them and I made mass cross namespace redirect to a lot of Malaysian entertainers articles. Before that, I tagged db-person template, CSD template using A7 criterion, proposed deletion template to controversial articles. After making all mistakes, I realise that I should bring them to AfD discussion platform not doing unnecessary things like that. At this moment, AfD stands for Article for Deletion, who knows Wikipedia community prefer for Article for Draftifying. By the way, let me know how to be unblocked? Nomination for deletion of Template:Events in rail transport by month links

Template:Events in rail transport by month links has been nominated for deletion. You are invited to comment on the discussion at the template's entry on the Templates for discussion page. --Finngall talk 23:39, 1 June 2017 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on Category:Films produced by Ahmad Puad Onah requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. – Fayenatic London 07:08, 10 June 2017 (UTC)
