Hi, The problem with the image was that while it may have been provided by his manager for promotional purposes it had not been released under terms that would qualify as a free content license. Wikipedia's mission is to create a free content ensyclopedia so in order to include any non-free material in an article it has to pass a series of fairly strict criteria as explained on Wikipedia:Non-free content. In this case the image was used to illustrate the person, and because it would presumably be possible for someone to photograph him and release the image under a free license this and other non-free images of him fail the first criteria of the non-free content policy, namely that a free licensed photo could be found or created to serve the same purpose.

So in order to use this or other non-free licensed images to illustate him you need to convince the copyright holder of the image to actualy release it under a free license (see WP:COPYREQ for more info and tips). If the image is used to illustrate some spesific historic event or something else that no new photos can be created to illustrate then it may be usable along with a non-free use rationale that explain why the image is nessesary and such (though it would still be a good idea to try and get it released under a free license instead).

Hope this was of some help in understanding the situation, copyright issues are anyting but straight forward, and Wikipedia's goal of using as little non-freee licensed material as possible doesn't make it any eaier. It's a hard subject to condence down and explain without getting long winded or technical too. You can try looking over Wikipedia:Basic copyright issues wich is an attempt to cover some of the basics if you are still confused, or ask me to clearify spesific points, you can also put spesific questions before a broader "audience" at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Did you remember to spesify that they must allow the creation of derivative works and commercial use of the photo too when you contacted them? Sorry to further cloud matters, but if they just gave permission to use the image and nothing else it's at best still very unclear wheter or not they actualy agreed to allow the creation of derivative works or commercial use of the image, wich must be allowed in order for it to be considered a free licensed image. Also please forward the mail you recieved to the permissions adress as specified at WP:COPYREQ. You can specify the image width like so [[Image:Your image here.jpg|thumb|200px]]. If you specity thumbnail (or just thumb) you can leave out the size and it will automaticaly be set to 200px (default) or whatever else up to 300px the user have set in his preferences for thumbnail size (this is the recomended way, hardcoded sizes can get wierd depending on screen resolution). You can also specify a size without the thumb command too, but then you won't get the frame and caption area. A minor "gotcha" is that if you specify frame instead of thumb you won't be eable to change the size, it will always display in full size regardles, wich is generaly bad unless it's a realy small image.
