Barnstar![edit]

The Special Barnstar
I User:DaGizza, award Amarrg with the Special Barnstar for his almost instantaneous efforts in maintaining the referecing quality of the FA Karnataka. GizzaDiscuss © 12:06, 4 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I hope you can continue your good work at Bangalore, which unfortunately is slightly worse than Karnataka in terms of sourcing. The entire culture section is unsourced. But keep it up and it will up to the standard where it should be! :) GizzaDiscuss © 12:06, 4 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Mummadi[edit]

There is some difference in sources based on how scholar chronologically name the Kings in the late 18th century. Kamath calls K.Wodeyar III's father as Chamaraja Wodeyar IX while Pranesh calls him Chamaraja Wodeyar VIII, based on earlier Chamaraja's, though their years of rule (1776-1796) match. I am not sure how to re-concile this. I took Pranesh's naming in the main article.Dineshkannambadi 00:24, 9 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, on cross checking, I see that Krishnaraja Wodeyar III was born to Khasa Chamaraja Wodeyar IX, in both my sources. However, The only issue is the chronology of kings at that time. (1770-1796). This is a minor issue because no matter what the books call them in that period, they were only titular kings.Dineshkannambadi 02:32, 10 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

images of oneself[edit]

There's no universal answer here. It certainly is not ok to write advertisement for yourself, but it is ok to upload a picture of yourself to put on your userpage, so long as that page is not blatantly promotional or completely unrelated to the project. I consider these deletions on a case by case basis. Cheers, Pascal.Tesson 11:28, 11 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Edits by Dayaanjali[edit]

I have been having some issues with this editor, namely in the Malayalee (see this, this, this, and this) and Ezhava (see this, this, and this). From his talk page, I see that you have had some previous experiences with him, regarding the article Sree Narayana Guru. While I do believe that he honestly has good intentions (his additions have been rather prolific - he has created and edited numerous articles) and wants to add more information to Wikipedia, he doesn't seem to understand WP:NOTABILITY, WP:NOR, WP:V, and WP:OWN. I've tried to clean-up his articles but he seems to take personal offense to that. I've tried to make him understand numerous times but he calls my edits "vandalism". It just seems that when his edits are criticized he gets defensive and aggressive. I've gone through some of his creations and added {{unreferenced}}, {{notability}}, {{stub}}, or {{refimprove}} tags. I am also conducting a cleanup of the Ezhava article, which is rather poorly written, is full of peacock terms, and OR. But once again, I am facing opposition. As far as the Malayalee article goes, I was wondering if you could look into the issue and post your opinion (my last resort will be WP:MEDCOM)? I was also wondering if you could take a look at my changes in the Ezhava article as well. I'm trying to make the article look objective and clean it up. Thanks! --vi5in[talk] 22:24, 18 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks[edit]

Thanks for removing that tag from my user page. *sigh*. I was warned this would happen by quite a few editors. They tried to clean up a few caste-related articles and things got pretty ugly. So they stay out of them now. Maybe I should have listened to them :). Thanks once again! --vi5in[talk] 15:00, 19 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for pointing out my error, the citation by Professor Dennis Hudson claims that he built the first modern hindu religious school. The difference being it did not depend on the traditional Gurukul system. The Gurukul system had a very low teacher to student ratio and progressed along based on each students capability and produced eventually stellar experts but the school system Arumuga Navala came up with had 20 students per class who had a graded curriculum and passed as a group (not individually) to the next level. The Bala Potam books that he published in 1850 are still in use in 2007. I learnt my Saivism from them from my LKG to grade 10 and now my daughter learns her religion through those books. Touched up the article on Dr. Sudarshan[edit]

The article on Hanumappa Sudarshan was really quite a surprise for me! I thought of starting one and saw that you already have done great work on it! Have you been to VGKK?? Just wondering, cos you seem to have got so much information, and didnt think somebody could have written up all that without visiting VGKK. If you havent, please do visit!

Hello[edit]

Dear Amar,

Thanks a ton for taking the time to respond to my edits on the Mysore article. While I've read most of the Wikipedia guidelines, I'd be glad if you can point me to some of the specific items where I might have violated some guideline. I'm asking this for my own improvement.

Thanks. Bdeepu 11:42, 25 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Tell me when you go![edit]

Do inform me when you go! Can set up your stay at VGKK! Prashanthns 18:14, 25 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed[edit]

Thanks. I agree to your point #2. However, I have another question on #1 about enduring heritage. Without citation, can we simply add another line saying that a lot of dasara festivities point to the enduring heritage of Mysore?

Parva[edit]

Hello Amar

Thanks for getting back. I'm currently pressed for time. I'll update the article later today. Please let me know to what extent the article should be expanded to qualify for Did you know?

Thanks.

Hi,

One last question: I plan to put the image of the book's cover page from the sahitya bhandara website. Do I link to the original image or directly upload it to wikipedia and put a copyright info message?

Thanks
