A tag has been placed on David Amoo, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag) and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. —C.Fred (talk) 20:04, 15 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The article has been deleted again because it does not establish the notability of the person. Please discuss here or on the article's talk page before recreating the article. Thank you. —C.Fred (talk) 20:19, 15 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Youth footballers are not considered notable. If he appears for the senior team, feel free to post then. NawlinWiki 20:35, 15 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Indeed. Until he signs a full professional contract and plays a first-team contest (for Liverpool or on transfer to another club), he is not notable for Wikipedia purposes. No amount of fan interest will change that. —C.Fred (talk) 21:48, 15 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I read the Millwall manager's comments, which made it clear that he has not played a professional contest at Millwall. —C.Fred (talk) 22:01, 15 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Quoting you: How can u say that?Wikipedia is an Encylcopedia and if there are enough people who want that information it should be there.

The problem is, far more people don't want it there. There are guidelines in place about the notability requirements before a person can have an article about him. Amoo fails the criteria, so he does not get an article. If he goes on to meet the criteria—which is not a guarantee—then he can have an article. —C.Fred (talk) 22:14, 15 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

As for James McCarthy, he makes a separate claim of notability, being the youngest player to appear for Hamilton Academicals in the 21st century. Since that's a squad in the second tier of the Scottish football system, I'll by that as an assertion of notability. —C.Fred (talk) 22:58, 15 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Further, the rule isn't that all non-professional footballers don't get pages. There are other criteria for notability; additionally, certain amateur athletes can be notable on the virtue of their amateur career alone. Since all you touched on was his pro career, that's the only piece of the puzzle I looked at. —C.Fred (talk) 23:01, 15 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not going to keep going down the hypothetical road, but yes, if McCarthy hadn't done anything notable, he wouldn't be notable. —C.Fred (talk) 23:10, 15 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

So wat else do u require.I have given the biggest proof in Willie Donachie's comments which tells u that david wud HAVE been a first team footballer had he signed. Even though he isnt now,

Which means he isn't. There's nothing terribly notable about being transferred like that among English football clubs, so...I don't see anything that makes him notable. I guess what's required is time and a change of circumstances. —C.Fred (talk) 23:22, 15 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding the other articles you're turning up, WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS. Each article has its own history to be considered and its own merits, plus how the article interfaces with the deletion guidelines. —C.Fred (talk) 01:23, 16 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
