Andras Petöcz[edit]

References would be to specific issues of newspapers or magazines, for example, that have written about this person or reviewed his work, to verify that he is a notable writer, and not just one of the many thousands of people who have held college lecturing jobs and attended writing conferences. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 12:57, 3 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yes. I have the reference: Internatuonal Authors and Writers Who's Who, published in Cambridge, England, by International Biographical Centrre, 1993

Information on citing sources in the footnotes format I'm using can be found at Wikipedia:Footnotes. The citation templates I'm using may be a bit complicated, and the templates are certainly not required; but the citations themselves still need to be full and detailed (see Wikipedia:Citing sources#Full citations). Thanks very much! Sorry, but the citation for me is to complicated - but i really think that with the external links and the others we have a lot informations about Petöcz. So, if there was a possibility, i would like to end my work on this Petöcz's page. Of course, i shall make prose about the "Prizes" and the "Participations"! And thanks a lot for your help. So, I make a citation about the text the György C. Kalmán - it is published in the "New books from Hungary" published for the bookmarket in Frankfurt in 2007. The templates may be a bit complicated, but the footnote system isn't quite as difficult to grasp. If that is still too hard, perhaps parenthetical referencing may be more familiar. The important part is the clarity and completeness of the citations. That's partly why I flagged the Kalmán quotation; details such as page numbers are very helpful for readers to verify the information in the article.

Also, as I mentioned in an edit summary, much of the content under the "Life" heading seems to have been copied directly from the HUNLIT page, enough that it may have problems with copyright (at the bottom of the page reads the text "© 2004 - Dream Interactive"). As a general rule, external websites should be used as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. In addition to copyright issues, it is also important that the text have an encyclopedic tone, which often isn't the case with directly copied material. And, really, i can't do well the citation, i made one (Kálmán), but to edit a ref is to comlicated for me. I'm watching the article, so it shouldn't be too much of a problem if you don't know how. All I really need is a few more pieces of information, which you should be able to post at Talk:Andras Petöcz. For the "New Books from Hungary" reference, things such as publication date, ISBN, page numbers… basically things you'd find in the copyright page typically before the table of contents. Feel free to try out any changes you desire, such as your Vilcsek reference; "be bold", as the saying goes around here. I should note that the need for references is to verify article facts. Adding quotations can be beneficial in moderation, but too many can compromise the encyclopedic tone and neutral point of view, and make the article too promotional in style. Except for the Balla quotation, which is directly attributed, I commented out the text which was copied from the HUNLIT page until the copyright issue can be sorted. If you have permission from the copyright holder to release the content freely under the GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL) then you should do one of the following:

If you have permission from the author leave a message explaining the details at Talk:Andras Petöcz and send an email with the message to "permissions-en (at) wikimedia (dot) org". See Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for instructions.
If a note on the original website states that re-use is permitted under the GFDL or released into the public domain leave a note at Talk:Andras Petöcz with a link to where we can find that note.
If you own the copyright to the material: send an e-mail from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en(at)wikimedia(dot)org or a postal message to the Wikimedia Foundation permitting re-use under the GFDL, and note that you have done so on Talk:Andras Petöcz.

If the text will not be released under a GFDL, then the alternative would be to rewrite the text in your own words. The HUNLIT text is be visible in underlying article code when editing, so you should be able to work on rewriting the text even though it is hidden from the reader. When the copyright issues are resolved, then the text can be un-hidden. I apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience regarding the matter.
