Drafts and articles[edit]

Information icon Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give Draft:Sungai Klang Expressway a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into Sungai Klang Expressway. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases for registered users, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. Disambiguation link notification for April 19[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited North–South Expressway northern route, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Kubang Pasu. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 06:11, 19 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Sungai Klang Expressway moved to draftspace[edit]

An article you recently created, Sungai Klang Expressway, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Imzadi 1979  21:53, 21 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Please add more sources to the draft. The only source is a bare link to the home page of a website, which is really not sufficient to source the article because it's not very specific. Please don't be impatient. We don't work under any deadlines here. When the draft is ready, it will be approved. Imzadi 1979  22:20, 21 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Why have you moved this draft into the main article space? A single source, once cited, is not enough to support the article. As it stands, it is likely to just end up being deleted. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 09:07, 24 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not use font tags[edit]

<font>...</font> tags are obsolete and have been removed from article and template space. Please use span tags instead, like this. Thanks. – Jonesey95 (talk) 18:51, 28 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

A bigger problem is that these tables do not comply with MOS:RJL. I just tried cleaning up the toll plazas in that article. They should not have that background and white text. They're missing the place for the kilometer post, etc. Imzadi 1979  22:22, 2 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Graphics as text[edit]

Regarding your reversion at {{Malaysian Expressway System}}, please remember that graphics are not a substitute for text. Please do not reinsert them into that navbox. Imzadi 1979  06:33, 30 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Just to add a point. The templates for those graphics do not generate alt text. That means that a screen reader for the blind will skip those graphics and not read anything. There are other issues, so stop reinserting them. Imzadi 1979  06:48, 30 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Your recent article[edit]

I have moved "SAVAGE Oozi!" to a draft in your user space. It is now located at User:AnimationObjectShow/Savage Oozi!. I'm going to redirect all of your other drafts on this topic to that location as well. Please do not attempt to put an article on that topic back in main space until it meets the General Notability Guideline. This means that the topic has "significant coverage in reliable sources independent of the subject". Unless and until you can meet that guideline, no draft on the topic will be accepted. In the future, attempts to get around GNG may just be sent off for deletion. Imzadi 1979  15:23, 7 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

That is clearly not ready for main space. Please work on the draft in your user space. It needs citations to meet WP:GNG to be considered appropriate for main space as an article. If you need help figuring out what this means, ask. Continuing to move the draft over will just continue in editors removing it back. Failure to understand and acknowledge these issues may result in removal of your editing privileges in the future. Imzadi 1979  15:37, 8 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. Junction lists[edit]

Edits like this one are not helpful. What was there before mostly compiled with MOS:RJL, the section of our Manual of Style on "road junction lists". In short, Most of Malaysia's junction list tables are very non-compliant. You took one of the few that was mostly compliant and converted into a form that just plain doesn't work well.

  1. Why are there all of those background colors? What do they mean? Unlike the compliant table for Pandan Indah Link, there's no color key. It looks like the same shade of green is used for toll plazas and one type of border. This is very confusing.
  2. Where are the columns for the geographic locations? There are various borders listed, but there's no indication which territory applies above or below that line in the table. There's also no good indication of which level of territory is which and how it fits into the scheme of things.
  3. Why are there graphics in the km column?
  4. Why are some of these interchange names linked? In general, individual interchanges are rarely notable enough to warrant articles, so they should not be linked.
  5. What's with all the boldface text? In general, boldface is only used for the subject/name of the article and any alternate names in the lead; it is rarely used in the body of an article, and never like this.
  6. Why do we need to list the word "exit" in the exit column? Why does the exit number need a yellow background?
  7. Why is some text in all caps? In general, the Manual of Style does not permit us to use all caps. The exception would be various abbreviations, like "NASA", which stands for "National Aeronautics and Space Administration". (Even in some varieties of English, like British English, that would be formatted "Nasa".)
  8. On the toll plazas, why do you list various toll tags multiple times each?
  9. The white text on dark backgrounds is problematic.
  10. There are too many graphics being used to indicate meaning that should be text. In general, in a junction list, we only use graphics for the markers of the intersecting highways and a few intermodal connections. In both cases, the adjacent text mentions the intersecting highway by number and mentions what intermodal connection applies. Here, nothing is explained. You're assuming that a reader knows what all of those icons mean without explanation. Remember, not all of the readers of this article will be from Malaysia! Additionally, some of the graphics seem to be there to provide details best left to a travel guide. Remember, Wikipedia is an encyclopedia. If you'd like to work on a travel guide, there's Wikivoyage.

Maybe you're trying to copy the formatting of the signage along the roadway? We don't do really that. We copy some elements, like the marker graphics for the intersecting highways, but we copy the information from signage. In short, the effect of this table is a bunch of information thrown in a table without any organization. Deleting the table would be more useful to a reader than leaving this in place.

I also understand that maybe you're just trying to make this one article match the others, but in this situation, you should be trying to make the other articles match what was in this article before.

Take a look at M-6 (Michigan highway)#Exit list.

  1. The county and location columns clearly indicate where these exits are located. The first two are both in Ottawa County, each in different townships. The other six are clearly in Kent County; the first three are clearly in Byron Township, and the other three are each in different townships.
    • The context of the article makes it clear that everything is in the US state of Michigan, so we don't have to mention that here.
    • U.S. Route 141#Major intersections involves a highway that crosses back and forth over state lines, so there's a column to clearly indicate in which state each intersection is located.
    • In all cases, the hierarchy of location types is indicated, moving from the most general at the left to the more specific at the right: states ➡️ counties ➡️ cities/village/townships ➡️ the junction itself.
  2. We have a clear indication of the mileposts (with converted km values) for each of the exits to give a sense of the distances involved.
  3. The exit column simply lists the exit numbers. There's no need for additional decoration.
  4. Each destination is clearly listed; no extra graphics are needed. For exit 15, the airport is signed as a destination for that interchange; the airport graphic from the sign is present and the airport is listed as one of the destinations. This is the only location where graphics are allowed. Since the eye is naturally drawn to graphics or formatted text, this is the one place where it makes sense to allow them.
  5. The one use of color, in this case the standard dark pink for an incomplete interchange is:
    • Explained in the notes;
    • Has the tooltip that will appear if a reader hovers the cursor over the line ("Incomplete access");
    • Has the color listed in the key at the bottom of the table.
  6. Finally, because none of the text is white, if a reader prints this article and omits the backgrounds, all of the black text will appear. Yes, the color for exit 15 will disappear, but the meaning of that color is still explicit in the notes for that interchange.
  7. Any other notes are short and to the point in their own specific column. If the situation were too complicated, we would explain it in further detail in the route description of the article.

In summary: Malaysia's highway articles continue to use a number of very bad practices for junction list tables. Readers from other countries will just not understand what a lot of those formatting choices are supposed to mean; they'd be better off without the table than to try to use what's been given. Instead, guidelines were developed years ago to make a standardized, but flexible, format for these tables. These guidelines incorporate best practices in terms of formatting that works with the rest of Wikipedia's Manual of Style. The structure and presentation of the tables using these guidelines organizes, simplifies, and clarifies the information being given. Imzadi 1979  11:46, 21 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not move the draft back to main space again by yourself. Do some meaningful work on it, and when you think it's ready, submit it through the WP:AfC process. Anything else will be considered disruptive and frowned upon. Imzadi 1979  02:12, 27 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Gopeng-Kuala Kangsar Bypass moved to draftspace[edit]

An article you recently created, Gopeng-Kuala Kangsar Bypass, is not suitable as written to remain published. That draft is not suitable for main space. It is simple to make it ready: all you need to do is add some citations. Until you can do that, it will be moved back to draft space. Imzadi 1979  13:58, 3 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
