Hello. I'm not from Bombay (mumbai), and am from Calcutta (now known as Kolkata), the megacity on the eastern portion of India.

Actually, Bombay and Calcutta were the names given to the two Megacities by the British, who invaded India and enslaved it. After India was liberated, the Indians decided to remove every trace of the existance of the British and to initiate a new start for India. So, they renamed the four Megacities in the four portions of India. Delhi, the Capital of India was renamed as New Delhi, Calcutta , the Megacity on the eastern portion of India was renamed as Kolkata, Madras, the Southern Megacity of India was renamed as Chennai, and finally, Bobbay, the Capital of the Western Province Maharastra was renamed to Mumbai. Kolkata's name was presented to by peculiar story. The story tells that, Once upon a time, Lord Yave Charnak, the Englishman who founded Calcutta was on his way to the central fort of the British. He had to halt for his horse was starving. He called in a Bengali peasent from the local village and asked him to feed hay to the horse. When the farmer brought the hay, the lord said 'Is the crop fresh?' The peasent answered 'Yes, Milord, it is just Kaal Katta (Kaal means Yesterday, and Katta means harvested)'. The name appeared to be peculiar, but funny to the Lord, who decided to name his new founded City to Kolkata. Thank you for asking such an interesting question. Before the British came, the general people used to live in small City States, which were under the control of the great Mughal Empire. After the Mughal Empire fragmented, the different portions of the empire were declared independent by the Mughal subordinates. In Bengal, the central eastern province of South Asia, Nawab (King in urdu language) Murshid Kuli Khan took control. During his reign, Murshidabadh (in urdu, meaning Palace of King Murshid) became the Capital of eastern India. But later on, the British came and annihilated the Mughal Empire and tricked the Nawab's grandson, Siraj-ud-Dauhla an defeated him, under the leadership of Lord Clibe. (the Nawab had 50,000 troops where the British had only 2,500 soldiers). Then, the British founded the City of Calcutta to compensate for the loss of the town off Murshidabadh. The British won by the use of tricks and treachery. Lord Clibe offered bribe to the general of Nawab's army, Mirjaffar. Mirjaffar had promised Siraj (touching the Holy Quran) that he'd not betray the trust of the kingdom, but secretly he betrayed the Nawab (since he himself wanted to be the ruler). He had all the men of Nawab under his command, and so commanded them to stand-ground while the English armies were advancing, by declaring that the British had declared a ceasefire (but the British did not). But the two subordinates of Mirjaffer, Mohanlal (who, despite being a Hindu, was loyal to the Nawab) and Mir-Madan, commanded only a few troops to defend the kingdom. They both were killed and the British captured the Nawab too. Then they asked a servent of the Nawab, Mohhammad-i-Begh. to slay the Nawab, which he did in a cruel manner. The Nawab was tortured to an extent that he could not stand any more and was kept thirsty and starving for 2 days, at the end of which, he was stabbed and thus killed. Besides, there was a garrison of the French in the local town of Chandannagar, from where only 30 French cannoners arrived for assisting the Nawab against the English armies. Only 30 brave French warriors destroyed nearly half the British army in about 60-75 minutes! But the Nawab was a novice in warfare. So, getting tricked by Mirjaffar, he asked the French to cease fighting and to return to Chandannagar. This manner of winning through trechery can fairly be equated to the betrayal of Montezuma by Hermando Cortez. Later on, the British attacked the women and children of the Nawab's family. 17 Children of the family were poisoned and some were even engraved alive. The Nawab's relatives beg mercy in the name of great Jesus Christ, but the British got all of them killed. (I think such treatment was to be received by the Sultanate of India, since they destroyed mercilessly the Hindu empire). Anirban16chatterjee (talk) 10:59, 25 January 2009 (UTC)

Besides, there were other reasons for the foundation of the City of Calautta. The great conqueror, Napoleon Bonaparte, desired to conquer India from the British and asked Tipu Sultan of Mysore for cooperation. Tipu Sultan agreed, since he too wished to replace the British with the French. The French armies started moving towards Western India by 1798. But the English admiral Nelson came forword and trapped Napoleon's armies in Egypt, bringing forth the Traphalgar wars. This stopped the eastward movement of the French. Meanwhile, Tipu Sultan was also killed by the British in the course of the Fourth Anglo-Mysore war (1799). After the fall of Napoleon, the French came to India and took defeated the empire of the Hoysalas in the southernmost portion of the Indian subcontinent. Gradually, they smashed the British armies and allied with the great Marathas on the Western province of Maharashtra. This caused the British to weaken. They moved towards the eastern portion of India and settled there. They centralized their defences and centred Calcutta. One other reason for the formation of Calcutta was the fact, that the British wanted to keep control over the conquered provinces of Burma (now Mayanmar) and the South-East Asia. So, the selected Calcutta to be the capital of India, since it was closer to South-East Asia. Later, during the Indian Independence Movement, the British shifted their capital from Calcutta to Delhi. Hello Mr. Chatterjee - I would like to point out that Wikipedia has a policy of no original research, that is, the editor should not introduce anything into articles that has not been published in reliable sources. I did some web search about this topic and I could only find a few blogs comparing Hindu and Greek Gods (however, blogs are usually not considered reliable sources). If you know some books or reliable websites where this particular comparison has been made please take the opportunity to add citations in the articles. The alcohols can be classified on the basis of number of -OH radicals attached to each compound basically. There are three basic types of alcohols, namely:
1. Monohydric Alcohols, for example, Ethanol or ethyl alcohol.
2. Dihydric Alcohols, for example, Glycol or 1,2 Ethane-diol.
3. Trihydric Alcohols, for example, Glycerol or 1,2,3 Propane-triol. And I am 16. So, we are nearly the same! Do you like to play Chess? Anirban16chatterjee (talk) 14:24, 25 January 2009 (UTC)

Wonderful! I am from India too! I'm from Kolkata, as I've mentioned earlier too. And in answer to your reaction, Phosphorous Trihalide nedds to be heated with strong alcohols to evolve H₃PO₃. The reactions is:

Strictly speaking, I saw that the date was of yesterday, that is 25 January. So, I corrected the Date by replacing it with 26 January. And for the Signature, I saw that the IP address was changed to some 117.101.... something like that. I A question appeared in my mind, that how can this be? If I've nhad answered today, how can the reply be sent on yesterday? So, I just altered the date and ID with the previous one.
