Opening sentence, re Krystian Pearce

Hello. As far as I'm aware, standard practice for current players with multiple nationalities is to omit them from the opening sentence and explain the situation further down the lead. We just put who they play for, the same way we do for players who represent only their birth country. As far as I'm aware, it's non-standard to put a player's birthplace in the opening sentence. Mr Pearce's situation – born in England, represented that country at youth level, became notable as an English player, took a Barbadian passport later in his career, represented that country at senior level – is explained in a later paragraph.

Please take it to WT:FOOTY if you want: there have been umpteen previous discussions on the topic, but if I'm just out of touch and consensus has changed, it'd be good to know. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 20:53, 3 June 2022 (UTC)
