Scarlet Crusade article[edit]

Well I was checking the article out and it looks very clean and organized now, good job. Derktar 18:39, August 27, 2005 (UTC).

About the Warcraft Portal[edit]

I see you recently created a Warcraft portal, if you would like any help I would be glad to assist. I'm sure User:UnlimitedAccess, User:Falcorian, User:Havok, and User:Debroglie would also like to help out and if you have time you might leave a note on their talk page. Derktar 03:41, September 13, 2005 (UTC).

I'll be keeping an eye on it too. I created the Portal:Computer and video games. If you want some feedback on it you might consider putting it up for a CVG Peer Review. Jacoplane 07:05, 13 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Icons in stub templates and fair use[edit]

I saw your edit to Template:Warcraft-stub and was wondering if you could clarify your reasons for removing the icon from the template. I'm somewhat confused by the reason you gave - "remove icon - not fair use in a stub template" - because it doesn't seem to make much sense: why is it that an icon is not fair use in a stub template but is fair use in an article? Plus removing the icon made the stub notice much less obvious on the Warcraft articles. XD Thanks. --Arabani 00:03, 24 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

See Wikipedia:Fair use#Policy. —Cryptic (talk) 00:10, 24 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Battlestar Galactica[edit]

The character's name is indeed Nelena Cain, not Helena Cain. I'm reverting your changes. — Phil Welch 04:24, 13 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

My mistake, apparently. I'm looking into it more but I've re-reverted. IMDB shows it as "Helena", although I'm skeptical. — Phil Welch 04:29, 13 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Google shows ten times more hits for "Helena Cain "battlestar"" than "Nelena Cain "battlestar"". And I'd have to back Arab on these matters, he's a little more than obsessed with BSG... -Falcorian 18:07, 13 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Cal Userbox[edit]

Maybe you should make a new category? I mean, the current one does say "graduated from"... --Falcorian 03:03, 24 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Too much work ... you do it. I'm busy making a custom userbox for you. --Arabani 03:04, 24 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Question about redirects[edit]

Hi. I am just wondering, is there a reason to bypass redirects? To me it looks that redirects are fine, and that more important would be to disambiguate redirects or fix double redirects. Anyway, you made me curious. You can reply here, I will keep your talk page on my watchlist. Oleg Alexandrov (talk) 02:50, 26 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I've been bypassing redirects as I run into them while randomly browsing Wiki. I don't believe there's any official policy on bypassing redirects - or at least none that I've found. Having said that, I personally think it's cleaner to bypass redirects. Almost all of the redirects I've been bypassing are redirects for alternate spellings, e.g. changing Stokes' theorem (which is a redirect) to Stokes theorem (which is the target article). At least in these cases, there certainly seems to be no harm in bypassing the redirect, and is probably even beneficial (removes the ugly little "redirect from (page name)" at the top of the article and reduces server load (one less page to parse)). So, to conclude my rather lengthy explanation, while there is no official reason to bypass redirects, I personally believe it a) makes articles cleaner and b) (slightly) reduces server load. --Arabani 04:41, 26 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
OK. Thank you for your explanation. Sometimes redirects make sense, sometimes they are placeholders for articles to come, but I see that you are not concerned with those. So, got it! :) I don't know about reducing the server load, but bypassing them does not hurt most of the time. Thanks again, Oleg Alexandrov (talk) 05:23, 26 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Just to jump in, there does not seem to be any official policy on the matter, at least none that the users who read the villiage pump are aware of. Basicly it's "do what you think is right". --Falcorian 18:36, 26 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Great. Thanks! This style of eavesdropping seems to be really helpful. :) Happy New Year ahead! Oleg Alexandrov (talk) 02:16, 27 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Nashezbaernon[edit]

So that's it, eh? --Falcorian 05:37, 1 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, that is certainly how you spell it (my version, anyway. The real spelling is N'a'shezbaernon) ... although why you bring it up is completely beyond me. --Arabani 06:29, 1 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

World of Warcraft GLBT issue.[edit]

Wikipedia attempts to be Comprehensive. The politics involved in how an MMPOG is run is relevent to an article on that MMPOG. This article is expliclty not just about the game play. Restoring the deleted section --Barberio 01:03, 29 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Reminder...[edit]

When using template tags on talk pages, don't forget to substitute with text by adding subst: to the template tag. For example, use {{subst:test}} instead of {{test}}. This reduces server load and prevents accidental blanking of the template.

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Warcraft III Illidan.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Warcraft III Illidan.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image is unlicensed for use on Wikipedia and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful.

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Heh, you misunderstood[edit]

Ned Scott's message had nothing to do with World of Warcraft. It was to do with Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/CAT1-X_Hyperion_Gundam_series, a heavy debate. Nothing to do with WoW. In defense to your revert, I remind you that it is a guideline that characters have real-world impact to be an article. From what it looks like, these characters have had absolutely no impact on the real-world at all, and until this is asserted in the article, it will remain so. I'm going to nominate it for AfD soon. --TheEmulatorGuy 23:19, 3 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

AfD nomination of Murloc[edit]

An editor has nominated Murloc, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not"). Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Murloc and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. - Tiswas(t) 13:52, 8 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Argent Dawn.gif[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Argent Dawn.gif. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Freedomeagle 03:59, 5 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading Image:Argent Dawn.gif. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
