License tagging for Image:Aramisian.jpg[edit]
Thanks for uploading Image:Aramisian.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

Manouchian.jpg[edit]
Only non-commercial or educational use of this file is permitted Do you think I would like to earn money with this image ? This is a free use image used at the same page of Manoushian's armenian page. Please let me use this file
Images[edit]
If you continue to upload images without filling in the required data or without providing correct info, the images will get deleted. If you keep re-pasting such pictures into article, you're effectively (if unwittingly) disrupting wikipedia. Here's the problem: the image you've uploaded is going to get deleted because you did not bother reading the upload instructions; it's most likely that the image is not public domain, so you shouldn't upload it at all. The alternative would be to come up with a fair use rationale, but I can tell you in advance that fair use cannot be argued in this case: the article already has a free and uncopyrighted portrait of Manouchian, so uploading a copyrighted image won't fill any information vacuum in this case. Please, please consider spending some time reading the image upload instructions and familiarizing yourself with how wikipedia works; the sheer obstinacy of doing the same mistake over and over again is simply not a reasonable approach, and, in the long run, it won't get you anything but irate warnings from administrators. I'm sure you're a constructive contributor, but those are not constructive edits. And please let's not spend eternity on this issue. Dahn (talk) 11:57, 5 September 2009 (UTC)
- Additionally: I am not the one deleting your image; this, as you could tell from previous automated messages, is also done automatically, because you failed to provide licensing information. If license = empty field => a specialized bot will tag the image for deletion. Now, whatever they do or don't on Armenian wikipedia, this runs parallel to the point made about it being fair use: again, it's not fair use, in an article which already has a picture of Manouchian, and that picture can be used freely. So I again ask you not to present it as such (I would also ask Armenian wikipedia, but I don't have the time to police the whims of each wikipedia project) - wikipedia only accepts copyrighted or likely copyrighted material under special circumstances, and this is simply not one of those special circumstances. - Actually, I now note that it was tagged automatically, but not because of a lack of license. It was tagged so because you used an unsustainable license. Please read what the tag says: "This media file, which you just uploaded, has been listed for speedy deletion because you indicated that only non-commercial or educational use of the file is allowed. Whilst it might seem reasonable to assume that such files can be freely used on Wikipedia, a non-profit website, this is in fact not the case." Trust me: this tag was not specially designed for your image, it was specially designed because such images shouldn't be uploaded. Technically, the copyright tag you added is also blatantly false: it is supposed to be used for images you created or own and which you do not want people to use commercially - when, in fact, wikipedia itself plans to use them "commercially". Since you do not own the image, it can't be determined by that tag. And since the image is not public domain and fair use cannot be argued, I again must suggest reconciling with the fact that the image simply can't to be used by wikipedia.
