Welcome![edit]

Hello, Artistryanthony, and welcome to Wikipedia! My name is Adam and I work with the Wiki Education Foundation; I help support students who are editing as part of a class assignment.

I hope you enjoy editing here. If you haven't already done so, please check out the student training library, which introduces you to editing and Wikipedia's core principles. You may also want to check out the Teahouse, a community of Wikipedia editors dedicated to helping new users. Below are some resources to help you get started editing.

Article[edit]

Nice start on your article draft. Some needed improvements

  • The article needs a lead section and other layout improvements. Please see pages 7-9 of the Editing Wikipedia brochure (linked above). We also have a brochure on writing biographies, which I've also linked. Please make sure you read it carefully.
  • Copyedit your article. There are some obvious typos in there that need fixing
  • You need better sources. Sources need to come from independent, third parties. The ones you're using appear to be linked to events where Valero is a speaker. They aren't independent, they aren't in-depth. This is especially important for articles about living people.
  • There's a checklist on page 15 of the Editing Wikipedia brochure. Please check your article against that checklist. Ian (Wiki Ed) (talk) 18:05, 24 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The article Ignacio Valero has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

An associate professor at a small California arts college. Sourcing and format is essentially indistinguishable from an academic CV. There's not even a lead paragraph explaining WHY he should have an article.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. • Hi Artistryanthony, I'm the content expert for your course. I was notified about the proposed deletion, so I wanted to check in here. Ian's advice is very good and sums up what you would need to do in order to rescue the article. You absolutely need a lead section and sourcing that is independent of Valero. Ideally you would post things like news stories about him or reviews of his work in academic journals and the like. I will warn you that it's actually quite difficult for university professors to pass notability guidelines (WP:NPROF), as most of them don't really gain the coverage needed to pass. I still encourage you to try to save the page and offhand I'd recommend taking this back into your sandbox to fix these issues, since that would give you more time to fix them at your leisure.
