Help with GPS[edit]

{{helpme}} I want to know how to add a location (at google maps for example, with the GPS coordinates) on an article and how to link it to the facebook search.

When you leave messages, please remember to "sign" your name, by putting ~~~~ (four tilde signs) at the end. This will add your name, and the date and time. You can also do this by clicking the 'sign' button, pictured to the right.

For most articles, you should just put this;

{{coord|<lat>|<long>|display=title}}

For example,

{{Coord|57|18|22.5|N|4|27|32.7|W|display=title}}

or

{{Coord|44.112|-87.913|display=title}}

That code should go at the end of the article (after the 'External links'). They add a little globe thingy, at the top of the article, which links to maps - e.g. [1]

If you need help on it, see Template:Coord.

If the article in question has an infobox thingy, then it is a bit different, because it is added as an infobox parameter.

For example, Eastwood, Nottinghamshire uses {{infobox UK place}}, and that infobox lets you use maps. So the coords are in the infobox with the lines,

|map_type = Nottinghamshire
|latitude = 53.0175
|longitude = -1.3060

I hope that helps. If you need more help, please ask again (with another {{helpme}}. Cheers,  Chzz  ►  05:17, 14 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

P.S. Re. Facebook - sorry, no idea. You'd have to ask Facebook for support on that. We can only help with Wikipedia stuff.  Chzz  ►  05:22, 14 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
