Hmong music

[edit]

I think you have a good start, but there is a lot of work to do. The information on history and culture should be greatly reduced. This content is more appropriate to the Hmong people article itself where most of it already is. You might want to maintain a little of it to explain how musical activities are different in different parts of the Hmong diaspora (Laos vs. the US, for example). It looks like another group member was supposed to be responsible for this, but has not done anything with it. If you can make contact with them, you might be able to share your content with them (look on the article discussion page for who this is).

The "The Music" section should be moved to the top of the page (without the heading) and become the introductory paragraph for the article. See for example the Romani music article. You should put Hmong music in bold where it occurs in your opening sentence. This paragraph should introduce the topic, define it, explain why it is important, and generally summarize the main points of the rest of the article. You have a good start and it should be fairly easy to make these improvements. Nposs (talk) 15:32, 10 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Follow-up: It looks like you and Ppb13 are covering much of the same content. I think the two of you need to communicate and decide who is doing the introduction and who will provide a more detailed description of the music in the body of the article.
