Knot Log (nautical) - Notes

The need for this page originates from the fact that there were two Wiki page Chip Log and Pitometer Log that contained sections on the history of and other technologies of ships logs (and poorly sourced at that) but there was no comprehensive page for the history and development of the Ships Log. I have combined the extraneous material from those two pages into one new page, provided sources, in-line citations as best I could. I plan to remove that extraneous material from the Chip Log and Pitometer Log pages when I am done. Take a look at what I've got so far in my Sandbox and let me know what I can do to improve it. In particular I need help from anyone who might know more about the subject than me who has access to some high quality sources for some of these factoids, or want to start hacking away at it. --Atani (talk) 04:36, 28 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I recommend you also ask these questions at Talk:Chip log and Talk:Pitometer log — anyone watching either of those pages is likely to have an opinion. DoriTalkContribs 04:57, 28 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
My recommendation is that you post to Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Ships. People there might have both expertise and interest. Meanwhile, please read Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. You must provide copyright attribution when you copy content from another page. I have added a copyright attribution note to the sandbox in this edit.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 06:56, 28 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
