Welcome![edit]

Hello, Atelier Orlando, and welcome to Wikipedia! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, one or more of the pages you created, such as Draft:Moshé Zwarts, may not conform to some of Wikipedia's content policies and may not be retained. In short, the topic of an article must be notable and have already been the subject of publication by reliable and independent sources.

Please review Your first article for an overview of the article creation process. The Article Wizard is available to help you create an article, where it will be reviewed and considered for publication. For information on how to request a new article that can be created by someone else, see Requested articles. If you are stuck, come to the Teahouse, where experienced Wikipedians can help you through the processes.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Draft:Moshé Zwarts requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://www.zja.nl/en/In-memoriam-Moshe-Zwarts. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. @Curb Safe Charmer: Thank you for identifying this serious issue in my article. I have rewritten it and added a reference to https://www.zja.nl/en/In-memoriam-Moshe-Zwarts where I have used this information. Here is my new version: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Mosh%C3%A9_Zwarts I hope this resolves the issue. Would you be able to look at it again and let me know if it is now good enough to be included in Wikipedia? If not, do let me know what i need to improve. If it is, could you tell me what the next steps are to get it published as a normal wikipedia page? I cannot seem to figure out how to move it or request to move it. Thank you very much for your help! PS. I have removed the maintenance templates/tags for the obituary style and copyright infringement. I hope this is okay! I tried to research when you are allowed to remove them and i found that if you believe you have resolved the issue, it is allowed. If that is not correct. I do apologize!

Wikipedia and copyright[edit]

Control copyright icon Hello Atelier Orlando, and welcome to Wikipedia. Your additions to Draft:Moshé Zwarts have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. (To request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission.) While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • We have strict guidelines on the usage of copyrighted images. Fair use images must meet all ten of the non-free content criteria in order to be used in articles, or they will be deleted. All other images must be made available under a free and open license that allows commercial and derivative reuse to be used on Wikipedia.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into the public domain (PD) or under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. Such a release must be done in a verifiable manner, so that the authority of the person purporting to release the copyright is evidenced. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps in Wikipedia:Translation#How to translate. See also Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Nathan2055talk - contribs 21:44, 14 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Nathan2055: Thank you for your advice and time! I have tried to rewrite the article, more in my own words and with better referencing and not in obituary-style. Hopefully like this it complies with wikipedia high copyright standards (which i applaud) and deals with the other issue that was flagged (that it was written in obituary style). Would you mind checking it out again and letting me know if it is good like this? Also, I cannot seem to figure out how to publish the page so it is no longer a draft, but a main wikipedia article. Thank you so much!! Atelier Orlando (talk) 12:31, 26 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Atelier Orlando: At the top of the draft there's a blue button that says 'submit your draft for review'. You need to click on that. Curb Safe Charmer (talk) 12:43, 26 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Curb Safe Charmer: Thank you! I will do that. Also, Is it correct that I am allowed to remove the maintenance template/tags when I believe I have resolved the issues in my edit? Thanks again!Atelier Orlando (talk) 15:15, 26 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Curb Safe Charmer: I don't understand the difference between asking for draft review and just 'moving' the article to wikipedia (where I also assumed it will be reviewed?). Would you mind clarifying for me what the difference is and what is allowed/expected of me as an editor to properly publish? Thank you again so much for helping me with these beginner questions!!Atelier Orlando (talk) 15:15, 26 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Ralph Kieft requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a real person or group of people that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator.
