Obviously incorrect and/or just blatantly false original research

I've seen this tyle of liveblogging type original research in many more articles about ongoing conflicts, and all of these articles need to be purged from that crap. It probably won't happen, but there should be no writing about ongoing events at all. SNAAAAKE!! (talk) 13:47, 19 June 2019 (UTC)

The people who write it are also the types who insist on using "ISIL" to tefer to IS even now in 2019 when almost literally no one else (just Al-Jazeera and few others occasionally) does it despite all the Wikipedia's pushing of that: [1][2] That's beyond silly but only typical. SNAAAAKE!! - you have to remember to remain calm and collegial regardless of what triggers you, be it misinformation or whatever you see or interpret it to be. WP is an encyclopedia, and there is a certain decorum that must be followed. Whenever you feel pent up emotion, walk away or come to my TP and read the fun stuff at the top. There are several quote boxes that speak to what you're feeling, and hopefully they will make you laugh and calm you down so you can better collect your thoughts, and present a collegial response to the issues you believe need to be addressed. Also keep in mind that you are editing in a highly controversial topic area, so tread cautiously thru that swamp - it's full of alligators. It would come across so much better if you simply stated something along the lines of WP:RS and WP:V are core content policies that advise against the inclusion of (briefly state the material) and if cited to RS, please keep in mind that "exceptional claims require exceptional sources". Now go back to that TP and strike your emotional over-indulgence, or better yet, delete what you wrote and start over. Ahhh...caviar!! Back when I did the field production for "The Paddlefish: An American Treasure" (FF to about 5:04), I worked closely with Missouri Dept. of Conservation biologists, a few game wardens, and 2 USF&WS special agents who had worked undercover in a sting operation to bust a ring of poachers who were illegally using gill nets to catch paddlefish in the Missouri River (they received prison sentences). Paddlefish roe closely resembles the roe of sevruga sturgeon, 2nd only to beluga which sells for about $129/oz. They helped me reenact the bust, and also helped setup the scene to demonstrate how poachers made caviar in a garage or wherever, and then sold the tins fraudulently labeled "Sevruga caviar" into the black market. For the sake of brevity, I'll summarize by saying that after what I witnessed firsthand while shooting the caviar segment, I will never eat caviar again. On a slightly different topic, Virginia Tech contacted me to co-produce an educational outreach program with them about crayfish, "America's Crayfish: Crawling In Troubled Waters". During field production, I survived the smell of the raw sorting/processing segment without issue, but I will never, never eat crayfish tails, sliced, diced or in-tact. The tails do not taste like lobster tails - but that isn't the worst part - whenever I see boiled crawfish, I get flashbacks - not of the vividly colored, beautifully arranged dishes steaming with the savory smells of sweet corn and spicey Cajun food - no, all I can remember is my New Orleans born production assistant sucking the juice out of the heads of boiled crawfish. 🤢🤮 Bon appétit!!! AQHA Hall of Fame links

Hi Atsme, I hope you're well. I just finished fixing all the broken links caused by the AQHA website redesign. Let me know if I changed anything you would not prefer, and I'll change it back. For example, I just recalled you like to use the Houston, TX type wikilinks instead of Houston, Texas links which I changed on Matlock Rose. I also changed some of the NCHA Hall of Fame links to be more specific as to Rider or Horse, etc. On another note, I've completed the phase of going through the bronc riding book and am going to start a new phase with a new sandbox where I'll be ready for you to be involved...on your own schedule of course. WP:CEN is now open!

To all interested parties: Now that it has a proper shortcut, the current events noticeboard has now officially opened for discussion!

WP:CEN came about as an idea I explored through a request for comment that closed last March. Recen research has re-opened the debate on Wikipedia's role in a changing faster-paced internet. Questions of WP:NOTNEWS and WP:Recentism are still floating around. That being said, there are still plenty of articles to write and hopefully this noticeboard can positively contribute to that critical process.

Thanks, MJL - hope it works out. What I'd really like to see is removal of loopholes and ambiguity in some of our current PAGs, and maybe modify our noticeboards a bit to give them more teeth in upholding policy, such as making comments by uninvolved editors carry the most weight. Another consideration is to elect a team of 5 moderators which may also prove beneficial. It will take some of the pressure off our AE admins who are often forced to act unilaterally to end disruption. I'm of the mind the proposed tweaks and modifications may also help eliminate the rare incidents of admin bias, inadvertent or otherwise, when determining which editor is causing the disruption. It all boils down to one's perspective and ideology, which is why clarity of NPOV is essential - it is a core content policy that should unquestionably take priority in our debates.
While we're encouraged to use biased sources, they shouldn't be used improperly by biased editors who tend to defend their choices as being unbiased. In the dog world, when an owner can't see confirmational faults in their dog, it's called kennel-blind. Per WP:RECENTISM: ...articles should be written from a neutral point of view without editorial bias or article imbalance. There are instances when that isn't happening, and the probable cause is linked to editors either misinterpretating PAGs or purposely attempting to whitewash or create coatracks; the latter of which is supported in numerous dicussions at NPOV/N and BLP/N. We are all aware that social justice/POV warriors are here to promote their agenda, not to build an encyclopedia, and it should be dealt with expeditiously by neutral admins, especially when there's a preponderance of evidence that validates concern. Our job is to get the article right by presenting the material neutrally, dispassionately and accurately, which leaves no room for biased editing. j/s Atsme Talk 📧 13:50, 27 June 2019 (UTC)

Awilley, JFG - it looks like ArbCom is going to approve my proposal or their modified version of it. The suggestion made by Fæ makes perfect sense, as JFG acknowledged. Question - when modifying the template that pops up when an editor attempts to add an alert, what is the best way to connect a customized DS Alert Notice at the top of a UTP? I am acknowledging that I am permanently aware of ALL DS per WP:Arbitration enforcement log (basically opting out of receiving further DS Alerts and taking full responsibility if I screw-up)? Translate or decode?

The word "projjer" - I've seen it twice, but I'm thinking it may be the fault of OCR when the doc was scanned.

  • The fish culturist today is a man of science, with a projjer amount of practical experience,....
  • then been installed as that which is to be considered the projjer one for the breed.

I thought "proper" but if the program wasn't picking up "p" then the words might have been spelled jrojjer, or maybe not. Your thoughts watchers, Tryptofish, Megalibrarygirl? Atsme Talk 📧 15:50, 15 July 2019 (UTC)

Hopefully Lane will attend this year, (he also hails from Texas), and can introduce us to people who may be able to help. I have not yet heard back from Kevin. I actually mentioned starting a group at last year's conference in Columbus, OH but was distracted by the main reason I was in Columbus - my daughter was there showing horses at the Congress, a short 10 minutes away from the Conference. Boston will be different, and an event I'm looking forward to attending with a primary focus.   • This seems like a mistake. Especially given the context of the comments. It looks like she was not incorrect for the gas lighting comments. I will also note with your last diff, if you read the rest of the thread there they worked it out and apologized over the incident. Given the overall nature of the antifa talk page in general to single her out, even with the previous sanction, seems rather inappropriate given the inaction against anyone else involved. 😂 I was in that same boat Gandydancer and finally figured it out. It's a bit unconventional compared to what we're used to here. At the top of each picture is Edit - click on edit, and cast your vote for that image, you're #1 pick (the winner for you) will get *{{3/3*}}, #2 will get *{{2/3*}}, and 3rd choice gets *{{1/3*}} - kinda like rating a movie. If you just like the picture, use *{{0/3*}} which adds only a heart. You only get 3 votes but you can add all the hearts you want. Hope that helps!! Atsme Talk 📧 17:34, 27 July 2019 (UTC)
OK, I'll try later. There are so many photos of incredible beauty that I couldn't possibly choose so I picked 3 that I found to be ones that reached out to me, though perhaps not the most "beautiful" - if that makes sense... I chose your penguin for #1 because it seems to see the beauty in a scene that may well slip by to one with a less well-developed sense of perfect form and interest, etc. I chose Looking for Petoskeys #133 as 2nd because it does tell the perfect story for people like me who are always picking up rocks and always have a few in their pockets. In Minnesota it would be Lake Superior agates that we would be watching for. For #3 I choose #187 - a good well-framed picture and very interesting subject.
