Inappropriate links include, but are not limited to, links to personal websites, links to websites with which you are affiliated (whether as a link in article text, or a citation in an article), and links that attract visitors to a website or promote a product. Thanks for explanation Natureium. Can you help me understand why the Creatine Deficiencies video is irrelevant for the pages in their respective section? I don't have a lot of experience with editing wikipedia so the information helps.Auract (talk)
Adding the same video to a whole string of articles is considered spamming and is more of an attempt at promoting your video than contributing appropriate material to wikipedia. This is a frequent problem on wikipedia. Natureium (talk) 23:09, 7 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I appreciate the explanation Natureium. From my perspective it seems to make sense then to have the video listed in the independent conditions and the main creatine deficiency article. I am a parent of child with one of the rare diseases so yes I do want this information to be available to other parents like myself who looked on wikipedia when they got a diagnostic. What is your suggestion on how to best include this information? And thanks again for taking the time to help a newbie Auract (talk)
I'm not sure the best way to go with how many articles to include the video in, but adding the same video to so many articles seems like the video isn't very specific to each topic. I would recommend asking for input on the WT:MED talk page. Natureium (talk) 23:32, 7 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
With all due respect, we are talking about a group of three rare diseases characterized by creatine deficiencies so the content is as specific as it gets. I will ask for advice on the WT:MED page. Thanks Auract (talk)

Relationship[edit]

What is your relation ship to the "Association for Creatine Deficiencies, a non-profit 501(c)(3) and parent led organization whose mission is to help eliminate the challenges for patients and families living with a Cerebral Creatine Deficiency Syndrome (CCDS)" Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 15:12, 9 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

User:Doc James As the parent of a 4 year old with a CCDS (creatine transporter defect) I am a member of this community and I do volunteer on the board. My intention with spelling out where the video is from was to ascertain it’s source and that it’s not a random video from YouTube. I guess that’s not needed? As you may have noticed I am not familiar with a lot of the norms of editing the wiki so thanks for being patient and shepherding the discussion on the main page. Also I wanted to follow up on your point about the video being under Creative Commons. Can you tell me more about your perspective there? Just trying to understand. Auract (talk) 17:19, 9 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
As you are on the board of the organization you should not directly add the video yourself.
Interesting, can any other parent add it? My partner is a more active Wikipedia editor. Is that ok? Auract (talk) 17:29, 9 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Per open licenses the details are here[1] Best Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 17:22, 9 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
thanks! I will take a look. I was more curious about why you think that makes a difference though?Auract (talk) 17:29, 9 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
