Welcome to Wikipedia[edit]

Hi Aviafanboi

Welcome to Wikipedia! And good to see you're interested in the picture-of-the-day process, I'm pretty much running this by myself at the moment. Just for your information, there are guidelines for POTD at Wikipedia:Picture of the day/Guidelines, where you can learn how the scheduling usually works and also how to write blurbs for them. The most important things to bear in mind are that (1) generally we don't run a picture that's already run before, (2) we try to feature them roughly in the order they were promoted (but this is not an absolute rule and we also make sure that there is balance and a range of different topics from day to day); and (3) that all the text used in the blurb must be cited to a reliable source, as outlined at WP:V. Sometimes this means you have to go to the internet to find sources and add material to the linked article that can be used in the blurb. I'm happy to help if you have any queries about this, or about general editing or article writing if you want to get started on that too! Thanks  — Amakuru (talk) 15:06, 9 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the message Amakuru. I checked the guidelines when I created my account and will follow the rules. Aviafanboi (talk) 16:25, 9 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

FPC[edit]

Please note that in order for your votes on FPC to be counted, you need to have made at least 100 edits to WP. Nothing personal in this, welcome to Wiki! Janke | Talk 15:50, 27 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

POTD scheduling[edit]

Hi Aviafanboi

I hope you're well.

Just a few tips for setting up the POTD templates:

  1. The link to the linked article should be in bold at the beginning of the prose, and also italicised if appropriate per MOS:ITALICS
  2. Similarly other items such as species names are italicised
  3. The title and texttitle parameters on the template should be filled in with the display-name of the article, in italics if appropriate
  4. The POTD should be noted at the page for the file itself
  5. The POTD should be noted at the page for the article

I've done this on the Eurasian brown bear POTD that you recently created... See this edit: [1] where I've done points 1–3, [2] for point 4, and [3] for point 5. Cheers, and happy editing.  — Amakuru (talk) 16:56, 4 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

May 2023[edit]

Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, articles should not be moved, as you did to Vallabhbhai Patel, without good reason. They should have a name that is both accurate and intuitive. Wikipedia has some guidelines in place to help with this. Generally, a page should only be moved to a new title if the current name doesn't follow these guidelines. Also, if a page move is being discussed, consensus needs to be reached before anybody moves the page. If you would like to experiment with page titles and moving, please use the test Wikipedia. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. — kashmīrī TALK 20:42, 31 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Featured picture candidates[edit]

Welcome to featured pictures! Hope you enjoy it! If there's anything I can help you with, feel free to ask; I'd like to think we're a fairly friendly group, although people can be a little blunt when criticising images. Adam Cuerden (talk)Has about 8.4% of all FPs. 11:40, 7 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Some bubble tea for you![edit]

I'm really in awe of today's FP as an aviation fan myself, and looked at it and saw that it was nominated by you. Wonderous work you've done here in just several months! Keep up the good work, and enjoy your time here :) GeraldWL 04:39, 4 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
